Fire flower glitch explaination: Mario's code:When you touch enemies, you lose your powerup. If you don't have a powerup, than you die. Axe/Flagpole code:When Mario touches it,stop all codes except the finishing code. Flower's code:If small, use it as a mushroom. If big, give ability to throw fireballs and swap colors to fire Mario colors. But when you touch both bowser and the axe, than the game thinks: Small Mario=Big Mario Big Mario=Small Mario So when you get fireflower than (while small) the game swaps the color and give ability to throw fireballs. And why Mario turns Big and small instantly when you press “B" is because there is no such sprite with small Mario throwing fireballs.
i've been in Minus world, it's nothing spectacular. you just keep swimming and going through pipes until you either run out of time or get killed by an enemy
My favourite glitch of Super Mario Bros. is that 1-up trick on the Koopa shell, where you get over 100 and enough lives and when you die, you get an instant Game Over screen.
The phanto one is interesting because you could always kill phanto, even in the original game, but starman was the only way I knew how to do it, and phanto comes back when you change scenes anyway (you only get a reprieve for one scene). This was different. Phanto didn’t appear to despawn. It appeared to die as evidenced by the enemy death sound and the key flashing. And it looked liked it was due to attacking the key. Now I wonder if this existed in the original game and if it was intentional. I doubt it was intentional but I could also seeing this being done as an intentional secret. Either way, that was neat.
In number 5 I think it does that because every time time starts running out it is programmed to speed up the music. It doesnt keep a record of it already speeding up the music, and unlike in newer super mario games when the time goes back up the music doesnt slow back down. So as a result when time goes below 100 the game tells it to accelerate the music again, so in the end the music goes A LOT faster than it should if you repeat the process of eating the green apples when the time reaches shortly below 100 over and over.
I know how the first glitch works When you get too 100 seconds on the clock the music goes faster, but some other music plays first for 3 seconds When that music stops it gets faster But if you get 10+ seconds on the clock while that first music goes, it gets faster as there's 110 seconds Getting too 100 seconds again speeds the music up as much as it did the first time For those who don't understand I'm saying the music gets faster at 97 seconds but some other music plays
Super Mario World 0:00 Super Mario Bros 2 (SNES) 2:20 Super Mario Bros 3 (SNES) 4:28 Super Mario Bros (NES) 6:20 Small Fire Mario Super Mario Bros (NES) 8:18 Minus World
My question: Do the glitches observed in Super Mario All Stars work for Super Mario Bros 2 and Super Mario Bros 3? I'm talking about defeating Phanto and the debug glitch for Mario 3.
my guess on why the music gets much faster than its supposed to: Lets just imagine having a low time. When yoshi gets a green apple, the time goes up a little (just like we saw). But the SNES isnt powerful enough to return to its original music, meaning it will be stuck. It could be that the developers make the speed go faster rather than changing the music. So everytime the timer is on 100 or less after yoshi ate a green apple (when it was below 100), the music will become very fast
I will give you guys and explanation of world -1, it is actually world 36-1 but the game can't render a number higher than 10 on the world display, there was gonna be more worlds than the 8 in game but could not be added because of memory on the cartridge, the reason why it keeps repeating when you go in the pipe is because the world has no goal pole area attached to the course, if you add a goal pole to the course you can continue going through the game, in the Japanese version of the game it is a different course.
-1 level is 36-1 (yeah) Anyway, there's 256 or 255 levels i think, most of them are just weird random blocks and enemies. And some of them are just copy of the levels(there is even some level copies can playable without anything) I hope this helped all of you people :)
#5 2015 and still unable to grab berries at head level with tongue, nor doing the spinning jump on Yoshi's back... Looked like he was learning how to play. #4 Not sure you killed Phanto... when you drop the key, he just goes further and further away. Who said you killed it? I was using this trick as a kid... But the key being damaged was surprising...
The Minus world glitch works because it loads the levels only when it says "Welcome To Warp Zone". Basically, if you go in the pipe soon enough, it can't load a number in front of the dash, making it look like World -1. It's called The Minus World, but in reality, it's World dash 1
+Melody Masculino it's actually world 36-1. The tile ID for a blank tile just happens to be 36, that's why it looks like -1, and world 0 would just display as 0-1
The Channel of Random Video Games & More actually the first part is right the second is wrong. It loads 36-1 because that’s the Id for a blank space and it has the world 5 warp zone loaded which only has one pipe but you can enter the other two and go to -1 which in reality is 36-1
Number 2: looks like smaller is better now! The game is tricked into thinking things are in reverse. I think it happens because when you hit bowser and the hammer at the same time, the game is thinking, ok, you won the fight, and doesnt make mario smaller even though he hit mario. But mario still hit bowser. So now big mario is actually small mario. When you get the super mushroom there is no way at all for the game to make you bigger, so of course, as a resort to the confusion, getting the super mushroom will make you small mario, and hitting an enemy as this small mario will put you back as super mario. So when you get the fire flower, you still stay small, only the colors change as they are suposed to. But when mario shoots the fireballs, he is supposed to be big, so for the second he is throwing a fire ball, he becomes big again, since there, of course, was nothing planned for small mario to even look like he was throwing fireballs.
There is another way to actullay defeat Phanto. Once you grab the key you need to have a timer and a star at the same time, then you will defeat him. The only problem is is that he reappears when you go through a door.
For gosh's sake, they're not minus worlds. What happens with that is the game doesn't know what world you're in, so it displays the number in the world slot as blank. In that unknown world, you're on level one. So it's basically World ??? level one.
The first one actually seems to be the intended effect, but not as expected. The way it happens leads me to believe that instead of using a separate track for the "hurry up" music, they used a speed up code. What was unintended was people doing what you did. They also made no limit on the speed, and they didn't make it to where it goes to normal whenever it goes above 100 again.
Yep thats what they did. If you look at the spc sound files ripped from the game there are no hurry up themes. The only alternate tracks are the Yoshi ones that use the extra eighth channel that the normal tracks don't use.

Exactly. You normally die after 100 seconds worth of speed-up, but if you keep extending the time, the game keeps speeding the music up.
