For those who don't know how to get the Rainbow Coin level: 1. Go into any level except a castle/tower 2. Remember the world ur in. 3. Match the timer with ur world number, eg: World 1 is _11, World 2 is _22, etc. For World Mushroom, Flower and Star: Mushroom is _77 Flower is _88 Star is _99.
Here's the explanation for 'World -1': If you don't load the right wall, the Warp Zone won't load as the one from 1-2, but instead from 4-2. I don't know why that happens but whatever. The World 4 Warp Zone has one pipe in the middle that leads to World 5. However, the World 1 Warp Zone has 3 warp pipes - the left one sends you to 4-1, the middle to 3-1 and the right to 2-1 if I'm not mistaken. The fact that the pipes on the side don't exist in the already loaded World 4 Warp Zone but do in the present World 1 Warp Zone confuses the game. The pipes on the side therefore send you to World 36-1, more commonly known as the Minus World. By the way, to clarify, Super Mario Bros. shows 36 as a blank space. 36-1 is actually a copy of a normal level, but there's one difference: The exit pipe restarts the level except for the timer, score and coins. TL;DR: The warp zone loads weirdly before loading the right wall and loads the one from World 4. The pipes don't work properly so the side pipes bring you to 36-1, AKA World -1.
Really? You think Minus World is a secret? It’s a glitch and if you think ‘’ThEn wHy diD theY leAve iT thEre hUh?!’’ It’s because the developers never expected you to do the glitch so they just left it in the game’s code.
world -1 is an exploit that uses the glitch where if you jump at a corner just right lets you pass through the wall. Afterwards, since the warp zone isn't properly loaded, you can go down the pipe and access the file left in the game. That means that #1 is a glitch.
1 is much more interesting on FDS: you "unlock" a entire fantasy world (-1 to -4) you can actually finish, and trigger the world selection like if you have compled the game.
The time mentioned in #5 is, by the way, 11 times the world number as the last 2 digits, wheree World Mushroom is World 7, Flower is 8, and Star is 9. However, you could suspect that there are such events, as finish time events have existed all along the NSMB series: In NSMB1 and NSMBW each time divided by 11 triggered a different mushroom house to appear, while in NSMBU (which was later) it would make a Toad with an item appear some way behind the flagpole (which was actually used for Easter Eggs). As you will have a number divided by 11 by random quite frequently, it was just a matter of time until this was to be discovered, and subsequently applied to NSMB2.
For #3, you need the coins to be a multiple of 11, the 10's digit of your score to match the same digit of the coins (11 coins, 10's digit would be a 1) and stop the time on an even number. I uploaded a video showing this about 6 years ago, as well as a few other things
-1 is a glitch not a secret. It happens because it is actually number 37 (maybe can’t remember exact number) aka blank. By entering that way it loads the 4-2 warp #2 which warps you to world 5. But there are 3 pipes in 1-2 rather then the 1 in 4-2. The number is still above the warp pipe. It’s just blank. The game uses the number over the pipe to find out where to send you so if it is blank it sends you to world 37 or as it is displayed as -1. This is proven bc if you enter the middle pipe it sends you to world 5. Also by romhacking and changing the numbers it will bring you to other level subarea clones. More technical details are on people’s videos about it
smw had such awesome secrecy in some levels . red level pads meant there were two exits. butter bridge leading to soda lake was by far the hardest for me to find.
I don't think Star Road counts much as a secret, since the entire theme of Star World is those keys. If anything, from SMW, it'd be that water world only accessible by the second end course gate thing on Butter Bridge. Also, a better secret about Mario 3 is done by your "bonus" secret. Stay behind the scenes, until you can go behind the black backdrop at the end and get the world skipping flute.
For super Mario 3 it doesn't have to have a certain score I've done it before and if you make it to the end while still behind you get a flute and I've also done the special world in super Mario world
It is a 'special score' in a certain way. The basic is that you need coins x11 (so 11, 22, 33...) and then the tenths digit of the score to be matching it (so if you have 33 coins, you need a score ending in 30). Then you need an even amount of seconds left on the clock because each second is 50 points... meaning an odd seconds left would mess up the score (making it 80 in the previous example). So yes, the score is tied to the trick, if you did it without paying attention to the score you might have been lucky with it or the time remaining. The trick he should have shown in the first stage though is tied to the white block that he crouches on. It lets you slip in the background, and that includes the black background at the end of the stage. If you slip behind it, there's a secret room with a warp whistle. That's the third whistle of the game, the other one being in the ceiling of the first castle (as known from the movie The Wizard) and held by a hammer brother in the second world, that you need use a hammer in the upper right corner of the map to find first.
Felipe Chepilla true but he obviously wasnt wearing the cloud when on the map screen and besides, the cloud only allows you to skip over one level and he skipped over a few.
number 3 is a glitch, the actual secret is when you are in the background. if you complete the level while being in the background, you get a flute, which will let you choose to go to other worlds. there are actually two flutes available in world 1.
8:55 and the first are not secrets And also,if someone thinks is world MINUS 1 is wrong, its just that the wolrd where your in doesn't exist,Like 1-1 is wolrd 1,right? Well,as this level has no world but its a level its -1 And It looks like minus one Top 5 things that the 999.999% Of people didn't knew :v
Some Spanish Guy That isn't true. You load the World 4-2 underground warpzone. However, there are 3 slots for the warpzone. Nintendo placed tile 36 (blank) above the outer "pipes" of the 4-2 warp some. But since all 3 pipes are in world 1-2. We can enter World (# tile above). Since it is 36, we go to World 36. Remember, tile 36 is blank, so the number appears to not be in existance. Due to technical issues, the game decides to load the design of 7-2 when you play 36-1. Hope this helps!
In super Mario bros 3, the coin ship gives you a life each time you get the ship. You have to go between the first and second windows at the end and jump.
What is the secret in Super Mario Bros. 3? Is The Money Boat the secret? Or is the secret that you can skip levels without playing them? Could you explain these little more? Like what to do to to get them.
+Unmeltable Snowman +buddyroach But if you look the map at 5:29 it seems he has not played them.. If he has, my question is still unanswered. What is the secret here?
Watch MrScrumpy. It is way more complicated than that. The explanation of why the Minus World is the way requires explaining assembly code. There is a loaded world.
+Emerald Beryllium that happens when you complete all stars worlds so then you get on a bonus world when you finish the world your game turns diferent like that koopas has mario heads
There are hints that #1 was never actually meant to be part of the game. Textures just get too random, and the fact that the levels apparently are different for every player also support this thesis. World -1 is actually known as the "glitch world".
the Gallifreyan Autobot Forgot to mention that. Thanks for pointing it out! But even though I knew it's like this, I didn't see any explanation on how 35 matches -1. It cannot be explained by overflow, because that would be 32=-32. (Assuming it's stored in 2-complement, 32=-31 if it's 1-complement.)
Also if u want to get a pwing go to world1 lv4 and collect every coin in the level. There are some secret coins but you can look them up. You can also do this in all the other worlds but it is a little bit of a different procedure and World 1 lv 4 is the easiest way.
crazysonicfan the only way you get the masks of mario on the koopa troopas is beating all the levels in super mario world.. i dont how they did it without doing that way..
TH-cam has been selectively showing GameChap's videos to their subscriber's feeds, because gamechap doesnt make them enough money. They had an update video about it.
LuigiLink I'm not trying to be rude but, Nintendo did say in their Nintendo power magazine that "The minus world is garbage data never meant to be loaded and there are 256 garbage worlds."

+M1ghty Boy ...these guys are crazy. Super Mario Bros. 3 on the NES. ...Though more specifically the visual remake in Super Mario Allstars on the Super Nintendo (still super mario bros. 3).
I knew 1, (glitched out level but in the Japan one has - 1,-2,-3,-4 and -5.)2,4,and 5 3 was a surprise to see because I never saw the full walk-through.
It is more like hard to find stuff. I cannot believe over 900k people were eating this up. :O Thoug the ghost house in SMW was realy leading to a secret area which wasn´t to obviece. Just like how to solve this ghost house for the normal exit. (or every ghost house) And I did not know about the coin ship in SMB3 or any overworld events which were triggered by stuff like this. (might have been in the manual though.) And the flight of the blue Yoshi only showed how game breaking the blue Yoshi could be. (Like everything that makes you fly with almost no limitation in a platformer.)
For those who don't know how to get the Rainbow Coin level:
1. Go into any level except a castle/tower
2. Remember the world ur in.
3. Match the timer with ur world number, eg: World 1 is _11, World 2 is _22, etc.
For World Mushroom, Flower and Star:
Mushroom is _77
Flower is _88
Star is _99.
TheMegaGoldenFireball I know I figured it out when I started the game
Gaming MARIO lol great job

LOL, IT'S MINUS WORLD. (WORLD -1)
I think it’s call the minus world
Its - 1

world -1 is an exploit that uses the glitch where if you jump at a corner just right lets you pass through the wall. Afterwards, since the warp zone isn't properly loaded, you can go down the pipe and access the file left in the game. That means that #1 is a glitch.
+PickleGaming P really? I know you can get to the warp zone, but the -1 world is an unused file, so how? I would love to see another way to get there.
+PickleGaming P yeah, might work, but still a true glitch. thanks for the info bro.
no it doesn't
#4 is actually a must-find for every 100% player (and it's hinted by the red level).
world -1 is a glitch not a SECRET
+Andrew Ponder Actually it's the minus world, a pretty cool secret
+Andrew Ponder tell me how the heck that your glitch can be like a level and it have own wold number!
+Finnishmanni I could explain it all but you should probably just read this. smcgamer.wordpress.com/2010/09/09/deconstructing-the-minus-world/
+TheMarioManiac // TMM "but really the - stands for 36"
So it won't be 361 if the - is 36?
Think before commenting!

The numbers 5 to 2 are secrets which are left on purpose. Number 1 is a glitch.

#00ff00Kying#000000KU well... that's truo xD
Its supose to be the warp zone sends you to 2-1,3-1,4-1
+Stormhero53 Gaming its not a secret... its a bug....... you van go there because the game think you are at the world 4 warp pipe room....
The second was that if you complete special world, all get transformed?
nigeru WILLIAM QUE HACES AQUI!
Actually World -1 is not a secret,it's a bug because the world type isn't shown. so you should say " ?-1"
Actually it's World 36 but SMB registers the number "36" as a blank character so that's shown.
Yes it's 36-1
Or world 36-1 if you really want to
I didn't know some of those! Awesome job, Gamechap!
I would roast people but my mom says I’m not allowed to burn trash
overused
Why would you say that when the only trash is you.
Um everyone isn't a mirror

How long did it take you to think of that

#0 Super Mario Bros 2 (Japan) World 9

36 is blank
It's 36 that is blank.
It's 36-1 not 37-1.
Yeah, just know it's 36, but still thanks for the informative comment
World -1 is sooooo seeeeeecret Nintendo didn't know about it!

how did you just skip over those levels on the world one map in smb3?
+buddyroach hacking (probably) and it doesnt have anything to do with the block
He could use the cloud to skip all the levels
Felipe Chepilla true but he obviously wasnt wearing the cloud when on the map screen and besides, the cloud only allows you to skip over one level and he skipped over a few.
???? what feilpe???
I think he just used the keyhole. UBVIUSLY! ;-)

Sorry I just hate wrong maths
3:20 i found this when playing with my dad but we lost the data (he knew all secrets lol guess he completed the game)
john boy my dad too when he was in mexico
There's a hidden one up on the ship just before the tunnel in smb3
thank you, miles I really appreciate that

Great job bro! :)
thus yo
I think i know #1 glicth work if you go from up it will triggerd but if you do that it cant decide the level or world
Watch MrScrumpy. It is way more complicated than that. The explanation of why the Minus World is the way requires explaining assembly code. There is a loaded world.
#5 the last 2 digits of the timer need to match the world number (mushroom world = 7, flower world = 8 and star world = 9)
I don't know if I just noticed this but GameChap made this video XD
No shit
I actually found 5 on accident in world 6 XD also good vid
world-1 is just a glitch,Nintendo never intended to put it in there, its just some broken code (a.k.a world 36-1)
what is the first mario game shown in video?
Steve Butler New Super Mario Bros. 2
Janet 10 nope super mario bros
doina Doyna he said the first one in this VIDEO, dumbass
Steve Butler for 3DS
Are the "Top Secret Area " work for all the same Boo's house ?(All the Boo's house with many Boos in the top.)

+Super Gamer Bros. koopas are Mario bullet bills are birds and something else changed I don't remember what though
In the OG Mario you can just go on the rising platform then jump to the right then BOOM you're in the Warp Zone Area
th-cam.com/video/riaf2vwMzMo/w-d-xo.html
🤦🏻 every mario fan knows that
did you know if you put a flag pole in world -1 you can explore worlds like world -2?
Nope.
Number 1 should be the warp zone in smb3
There are hints that #1 was never actually meant to be part of the game. Textures just get too random, and the fact that the levels apparently are different for every player also support this thesis. World -1 is actually known as the "glitch world".
ehx "-1" actually translates into "36-1" due to errors.
the Gallifreyan Autobot Forgot to mention that. Thanks for pointing it out!
But even though I knew it's like this, I didn't see any explanation on how 35 matches -1. It cannot be explained by overflow, because that would be 32=-32. (Assuming it's stored in 2-complement, 32=-31 if it's 1-complement.)
its actually 36-1, but the system can not display it so it looks like -1
Doesn't every level in SMW have a secret exit to make it harder to 100% the game for casuals?
Super Mario Minecraft Jesson k
I'm pretty sure only the red levels and star roads have secret keys
ah, what a classic the final one
Also if u want to get a pwing go to world1 lv4 and collect every coin in the level. There are some secret coins but you can look them up. You can also do this in all the other worlds but it is a little bit of a different procedure and World 1 lv 4 is the easiest way.
Wait a minute, so Alvin didn't just make up World -1?!
1:02 1-up Heaven
What about the warp whistles in super Mario 3
your kidding right?
+Stockroom Rick (Raijun) nope theres warp whistles that can warp you to worlds
+Stockroom Rick (Raijun) you dont say!
+Stockroom Rick (Raijun) i knew it was a secret all the time.... the warp pipes from smb1 are secrets but the minus world is a glitch
World -1 creeps me out considering how it goes on forever
In that game it doesnt matter if you dont save Peach
all you need is to become millionaire!
REALLY!Because then you will have a gold flower??? I guess
No, the gold flower comes first. The only thing that changes when you become a millionaire is the title screen
Ive never seen anyone else get number 2 but i didn't know it did that after defeating all the special levels either
fun fact. the "Minus World" is actually World 36 level 1 or "36-1"
Yup
I did the first super mario bros 3 one by accident
8:00 hallowen maybe
crazysonicfan the only way you get the masks of mario on the koopa troopas is beating all the levels in super mario world.. i dont how they did it without doing that way..
crazysonicfan and i forgot to add in all routes in the red stages too..
I remember when I first got the top secret area in Mario world
Stupid TH-cam hiding you guys from subscribers.. How can they get away with that?!
What
That made zero sense.
TH-cam has been selectively showing GameChap's videos to their subscriber's feeds, because gamechap doesnt make them enough money. They had an update video about it.
+Dante X Cameron Oh.
they brought back the money boat in NSMB2!
+JCL Kaytwo (JCLKay2) and new super mario bros 2, its a secret level in world 7. its secret because its so amazing.
well it is secret
its a secret exit
for the first one what level is it
Nintendo probably used the -1 world for testing Mario's swimming abilities and the sprites and mechanics for The cheep cheeps and bloopers
LuigiLink yes
the tile placement really makes it look like it is for testing AI.
LuigiLink I'm not trying to be rude but, Nintendo did say in their Nintendo power magazine that "The minus world is garbage data never meant to be loaded and there are 256 garbage worlds."
Mary Chalfant well that just means my theory was wrong thanks for giving me the correct info
LuigiLink Your welcome :)
The top secret area is the best!
how do you record this
On old consoles
donovan you are right it loads a different warp zone and its a 1 pipe one so the side pipes are loaded as 36-1
Sans your my Boi I like you
Hooboy, someone here is more clumsy at Mario than my grandma...
I would have thought ONE of those -1 pipes would be the correct one and go to world -2 after completing -1
how do you beat the glitch level?
It's impossible to beat without ROM hacking in the NES version of SMB (the Famicom version had a different Minus World/World 36).
Is the #4 secret also in super Mario world super Mario advance 2?
Allen Brockman Of course.
#2 also part of 100%.
EDIT: Or wait... new textures?? That wasn't in the GBA version!
I have the Gameboy version! the textures change after u complete all the goals!
I guess these areas aren’t real,well...
secret.
I'm sure everyone and their grandparents know of the secret in the same level as #3, right? You use that white block to go behind the scenery and at the end, you go behind the black area and unlock.... something I forgot what it was.
:/
+heartsXkisses24 on super mario bros 3, at the third level, or #3 on the world one, you unlock the magical flute, for the warp zone...do you rember now?
number 1
I did that already.
Just walk OVER THE LEVEL!
I'm 9.
and did that.
so its a glitch
+MEXTRINITY4EVR !!!!!!! if you walk over its just the warp zone not a glitch in the level to go to -1 world
I stand corrected.
Thank you for informing me.
you're welcome
uh just btw the minus world is a very well known glitch so in my opinion i wouldnt call it a secret
Well, it's hidden and that's in the title so...
It was a secret in the game, so it's technically a secret
what is the first game plz?
New super mario bros 2
+DHarrFilms Thanks!
The 2nd one was from People who made the Marios game
As a thank you for playing
Marco_4_Eye what secret is on 1

+M1ghty Boy I believe that is Super Mario World 3 for GBA.
+nitrodog96 or super mario world 3 for nes
+M1ghty Boy ...these guys are crazy. Super Mario Bros. 3 on the NES. ...Though more specifically the visual remake in Super Mario Allstars on the Super Nintendo (still super mario bros. 3).
Super mario bros 3 Advance 4
made for the GBA (i have it for my gba sp) and has updated graphics, world E, and isnt on the NES or SNES
+Paul Deddens Nope. It's Super Mario Bros. 3 in the SNES compilation Super Mario All Stars. Look at the picture proportions.
#spoiler alert: number one glitch is WAY easier to perform just use the platform to get on top of the stage
Zavery Ortman If you use the platform then the glitch doesn't work
You have to load it like shown in the video
It's part of the glitch
I knew 1, (glitched out level but in the Japan one has - 1,-2,-3,-4 and -5.)2,4,and 5 3 was a surprise to see because I never saw the full walk-through.
I like how you casually skip and your through the door in the third one, whats your secret? Hacks?
Nice list, but #1 is a glitch, not a secret.
it was a secret until somebody discovered it
#3 you can do with just getting on top and crouching. no coins or points necessary
It is more like hard to find stuff. I cannot believe over 900k people were eating this up. :O
Thoug the ghost house in SMW was realy leading to a secret area which wasn´t to obviece. Just like how to solve this ghost house for the normal exit. (or every ghost house)
And I did not know about the coin ship in SMB3 or any overworld events which were triggered by stuff like this. (might have been in the manual though.)
And the flight of the blue Yoshi only showed how game breaking the blue Yoshi could be. (Like everything that makes you fly with almost no limitation in a platformer.)
Blue Yoshi is about the same as the P-Wing in SMB3.
I founded Mario world secret area without help in the 1994 !!!
Can i consider myself a super player?????😄😄
I guess so
i know befire that has a pipe extra in world 1-2 and bowser's battle
You have the same profile picture as me lol
The minus world isn't a secret, it's a glitch. If you want to argue with me, you can't because it is a glitch.
Because a secret is something intentional that the game developers put in, a glitch is a coding error, which was not meant to happen.
+Cookie TheKitty true
+Cookie TheKitty Who would argue with a kitty dawwwwwwwwwwwww
#2 there is one of those keys and locks in every level. just thought you should know :P
+RavenPaw Gameplay that's how you progress duh? :P
Nintendo....... YOU ARE BOSS
Is it really a secret if it's an unintended glitch, though?
It's not a secret, it's a glitch, so you're right
2:46 this has such a troll
Its real ive done it
Its because not secret
World -1 is a glitch not a secret
yeah it is
But GameChap World -1 is Not a Secret Its a Glitch
No its Not Its World -1
It's World 36-1 but SMB registers 36 as a blank space so it is " -1"
But how is it a glitch if it was designed on purpose.
@@antonellapalombo8796 IT IS 36-1!
Expos
6:00 its work in NES too...
Wait... So you need 33 coins, and you need the second to last number also be 3? ILLUMINATI CONFIRMED
