Hi Gary, once again another one of your brilliant videos - well explained and good quality video editing, with close ups in just the right places. Found the video really helpful, as I'm thinking of treating myself to a multiplier for beach fishing. After looking at different makes and models, I think the Penn 525, similar to what you're using, is the way to go. - Seem well made reels, and good value for the price, also I noted what you said about it being the reel you use all the time. been focusing on mullet last few week with loads of successful days. good few rays small eyed and thornbacks, mackerel thinning out whiting are in, few codling being caught around aswell

Would I need a rod specifically for a multiplier reel because I just got given a multiplier and don’t know if I could use it with my beachcaster

No you don't need a specific rod you should be able to use it with any beachcaster.

I don't usually use a shock leader and don't get no problems it all depends on location and my local area don't need no leader for casting just lifting lol.

Yeah I agree. At the end of the video where I nest the reel and snap off there is 60lb shock leader on that and it snapped like thread because the cast wasn't controlled. I think people put to much faith in shock leader. How's the fishing down your way? Much getting caught?

no I blanked unfortunately. Think i might of had something if i had of had more time and stayed into darkness was ideal conditions for cod and bass.

Is a level wind of any use to beginners?..I've never even cast a multiplier

Yes a level wind is good for beginners to use as it helps laying the line back on the spool evenly when you wind in ready for your next cast.
