How To Release A Tight Pelvic Floor With The Bottle Trick in less than 3 minutes

  • This is a great, non invasive, way to stretch the muscles situated deep within the pelvic and gluteal area.
    I've use this technique with both men and women to release and desensitize the pelvic floor and work on one specific muscle - the obturator internus.
    This is an important muscle because it functions as part of the pelvic floor as well as a hip rotator. Which means anything from your foot up can effect your hip and therefore your floor.
    When you step back and take a whole body approach to rehab you may find that certain areas like the internal obturator muscle are held tight by the nervous system.
    Applying pressure with a bottle actually dampens down the neural drive and can help restore normal tone and mobility to the muscles of the pelvic floor.
    Step 1: Sit on a flat chair, then put a bottle half filled with water at a roughly 45 degrees angle under the ischial bone (place the top of the bottle the way you feel most comfortable with), this way the bottle slides up onto the inside of the bone and ever so slightly puts a stretch on the pelvic floor.
    Step 2: Next, move for one minute across the three planes (sagittal, frontal and transversal) on each side.

    I've been doing this exercise for the last 3 days consistently and not only is the tension in my hips gone, but a pain I had for 2 weeks in the muscles behind my left knee are completely gone. I really appreciate this and will continue this exercise as it has really aided in releasing the tension in my pelvis.

    So two weeks ago I started having weak urine flow, urine retention, dribble, sting pain in penis head, and each day it got worst. I thought I was having a UTI. Had blood work, PSA prostate test, Urinalysis and doctor even put me on flomax thinking I rapidly got an enlarged prostate. No hint of pelvic floor muscles from anyone. I couldn’t wrap my head around it cause it was so onset but I didn’t feel spasming clenching. I stumbled across this video and realized I had localized pain / tight muscles by my groin, and pelvic sitz bone. Instead of rolling the bottle, I did shoulder wide squat and sat on the top of a ocean spay cranberry bottle. I know weird right, but I just sat on the bottle cap for 3-4 minute on the few spots that are tender and already noticing an improvement on day one. This crap has scared me so much, like wtf, I thought I was losing muscle function. Btw I’m a 43 year old male. Thank you sir, I just took your method and used it to apply more pressure on the spots.

    My pelvic floor is tight and it causes me to have frequent urination. The urgency to urinate builds up very fast and usually the urgency grows very strong when the 30 minutes mark hit, forcing me to go to the toilet. I tried the water bottle technique and it helps to really relax the pelvic floor and I also realised that it helps to remove my anxiety built up. I believe that tight pelvic floor can also cause anxiety as the tension in ur body cannot be released. Once I release the tension, I now can hold my pee for more than 1 hour and if there is anxiety built up, the anxiety will be gone. However, this water bottle technique needs to be used multiple times as my pelvic floor will get tight again once I continue with my lifestyle.
    I believe that in order to solve pelvic floor completely, we still need to do more pelvic floor stretches and also change the bad habits that causes our pelvic floor dysfunction in the 1st place.

      I went to my local physio who specialises in pelvic health and I told her about my hip and lower back pain. She asked me if I have any pelvic floor concerns and I told her that sometimes when I clench my anus I get a painful pulling sensation in my hip. She did briefly mention the OI muscle and that it can be massaged internally. But she said that it’s not usually the first treatment she would go to. I am a male and I was thinking to myself that perhaps she is uncomfortable performing such a treatment on me. Or perhaps she just doesn’t think it is necessary for me. It’s a very embarrassing topic and to ask her to do it for me seems weird. Maybe I should seek out a male therapist to do it?

    • @adithinair6004
      @adithinair6004 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @TomBoxleitner an internal release is not always the first line of treatment because it's quite deeper to palpate from internally and sometimes not that comfortable for the patient,secondly yes your consent and comfort is of utmost importance, so if you feel you need a male therapist you can go ahead for the same.
      Third, consciously try keeping your anus relaxed, whenever u remember and just try doing diaphragmatic breathing to get an idea of how ua muscles would feel when u relax, ( think as if u wana pass gas but don't strain or push)..
      Wishing you speedy recovery!

    I had some changes in my life over the past two years (new house, new bike, new furniture) and I went from no hip pain to not being able to hardly walk. It started with an unrelated thing (a bad callous on the bottom of my foot then a strained Achilles both of which caused limping which didn't help). then my fix was new professionally fitted athletic shoes that were too narrow in the toe box and then I got a bunion. More limping ensued. What resulted from all this change and little issues was a zero to 60 hip pain and pelvic pain out of nowhere. I swear it feels like my hips went from fine to brittle overnight. And the inner thigh/groin pain and low pelvic pain has me worried it's a hernia but I don't have a classic bulge. I do get a swollen lower pelvis on one side right after walking a few miles but it also hurts in the inner thighs and hip flexors and that little chicken bone thing that connects the leg to the pelvis. I hope it's the OI. I would hate to think I have a hernia or a severe case of surprise hip arthritis. I just tried my first bottle exercise. It felt painfully good. I weight 200 pounds so hope I don't cause contents to go all over the kitchen.

I have had pelvic issues for 4 years. I had a hemorrhoidectomy. Never fully recovered anus is still very tight. I’m a body builder. Can’t go to the gym for even 3 30 minute sessions a week. Gets so tight that it’s hard to have bowel movement. I’m not constipated I’ve tried everything from ointments diets surgery. I may have ani Levator syndrome. I’m so desperate to get back in the gym and have my life back. I’ve lost so much weight and haven’t had a dating life in over a year because of how much this has wrecked my confidence and joy of life. I hope there’s someone who reads this who can relate and possibly give some advice. I don’t know what to do anymore. I’m broke from medical bills and still suffering. If you read this far thanks. Never sit longer than 30 minutes, walk everyday for at least 30 minutes, hold your urine for at least 2 hours and ignore the urge/do not fight it! Calmly go to the bathroom. After prostrate removal didn't have a lot leakage because started physical therapy a few months before; however, I continued PT after surgery, was fairly dry but then things got worst. Therapist felt issue was overworked pelvic floor and trained me in identifying pressure points along the pelvic floor and to use pressure. Results were great. Thing is, still do the pressure points with my fingers but still leaking. Seems this exercise is far more broad based than using a finger around the pelvic floor muscle. Should I see even better results than just using a finger along the obvious tight areas of the pelvic floor where it attaches to the pelvic bone area?

    @Millzlane ปีที่แล้ว +14

    Hey listen. I got it❗ 👂🏾
    The pelvic floor problem is that your using your pelvic muscles to breathe.. Also your lower abdomen. What gave me instant relief was pressure on the lower abdomen instead of the pelvic floor muscles. If you only release JUST the pelvic floor, it can be very easy to get back to pelvic floor breathing. But if you cut it off at the abdomen (lower) it cuts the pelvic floor as well. Now the idea is to put pressure on both sides of the region. (Not the middle) and breathe deep a couple times until you feel you have eased use of the lower abdomen to breathe. Walla... Gone

    Can you please show exactly where the placement should be? It's hard to tell if I've got it positioned correctly

      Medial side of the ischial tuberosity, over the obturator internus muscle. You can look up where those anatomical points are.

      I want sure myself but I just tried it and there's not much room for it to go to too many different places. Just mirror the doc's example in the video and sit down on it. I fiddled with it a few moments but there was really only one way it would accommodate me sitting on it where the doc had the bottle. It felt very good.

    I’ve had constant numbness in my saddle area. My neurologist and urologist couldn’t find anything. I’m wondering, could my pudendal nerve be compressed? I had an mri of sacrum but neuro couldn’t find anything … I’m at a loss.

      About 9 years ago I had pains and problems and went to many doctors. One said my prostate was enlarged and had me on a super strong antibiotic. I got terrible hives from it and stopped. A friend told me about his pelvic pain saga. I went to his urologist who said prostate was normal. Btw antibiotics cant even penetrate inside prostate i am told.
      So he sent me to PT. Only a few know how to do this. I have had amazing results with PT. They can electrically measure how tight you are clamped up. Explained to me about the pelvic muscles are like a fist. Imagine you hold your fist tightly for 5 minutes. Feels a little bad afterward for a minute to loosen up. Then imagine you tighten that fist for an hour. Takes linger afterward to message it back to normal. Then imagine you make a fist for a year! That isnt going to be easy to get back to normal. That is exactly what happens!
      And we are basically fighting ourselves over the pain, with the pelvic floor trying to contract away from the pain. Ouch.
      My PT was combo of hot pads placed on me to relax, then she did external and internal work. It sounds weird but by God it works. It can hurt too. The also teach you exercises etc.
      Find one of those PT who knows this. Hard to find a dr but you can. Also get a standing desk. We sit way too much. Also try epson salts in warm baths. Really do up the TLC. As a guy I know I NEVER thought to take care of myself.
      It can be addressed and ot can gp away. I had it come back a little 2 times but I got it worked back out again easier.
      Good luck and I hope this helps to hear from another guy. We never talk much to buddies about health. Now I tell all my buds as a sort of mission. You can do it 👍

      @DeliciousWontons I was going every week. They also taught exercises. I have read that some exercises can be overdone...work into it gradually. The treatments were usually started with them putting hot pads on my lower back and even using the tenze unit on my back. The pain radiated out to various places at various times. The first therapist I saw, who also was very experienced and taught other therapists, told me to visualize how your hand feels if you made a fit for 15minutes and then released. Then imagine a clenched fist for years and years. It can take a lot of work and relaxation techniques and time to undo the pain and stress.
      Also, I found that a hot bathtub with epson salts, which is magnesium, really helped. I normally only ever shower, so a bath like that also makes you rest too. When you get home put your feet up. Anything to try to break the stress both physical and mental.
      I had a few flareups but consider myself to be good. But I take ezmelt vitamin tab each day that has magnesium. And I try to keep standing, walking, just moving more. I dont want it back.
      Talk to others and try to think as holistically as possible. One therapist told me that type a people who go go go all the time are prime candidates. Be kind to yourself and think long term solution. You will get better. Hang in there. Sending you healing thoughts and prayers.

      @@JamieRobegreat story and glad to hear of your recovery. how easy was it to get a pelvic floor therapist?

    • @JamieRobe
      @JamieRobe 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@michaelfern4079 in my area Tampa, there is a multioffice PT called OPPT. They seem to always have pelvic floor people. The way it works on most insurance is that you can just go for 30 days without a Doctors OK, and after that just get a primary care Dr to fax in an OK for more. My insurance has never had an issue. Seems to be an accepted treatment. I would call around. I know that my PT people have been treating men and women, with women much more prevalent. Probably since guys aren't talking about it as much with peers.
      BTW a good PT will do manipulation but they should also be teaching you exercises and look at how you hold the pelvis and walk, etc. I have learned things about myself that I believe help me strengthen certain muscles to stop a kind of bad compensation thing. Every GD muscle in the body seems to be tied into the Pelvic floor 😄
