My mom added grated zucchini to everything from cakes to meat dishes . She would grate it then put into a colander and lightly salt and let sit a big to draw out some of the moisture then she would squeeze it in a clean dish towel and then spread onto a sheet pan a flash freeze and then put into freezer bags or containers in 1 & 2 cup portions and it went into everything, we were a family of 6 . Us kids never knew .

You inspired me to make hamburger soup for my family for supper - something that I haven’t made for years. It’s healthy and delicious!
My husband always claims that “soup is not a meal” (said in a deep manly voice) but always love the soups I cook. Lol
Oh, wow, my husband knows better than to say that! LOL! Although, he loves soups and chilis, so I"m grateful.

I 100% prefer cottage cheese over ricotta for lasagna too! Cottage cheese is like adding a thousand mini mozzarellas lol.
I also love Hamburger Helper, lol. I made a homemade version before, and I thought it was so good. I'm definitely going to try these recipes! Thanks for sharing!
My husband is not a fan but my son eats them. His favorite way to eat them is straight out of the freezer!
BTW, we have the same Xmas plates from my childhood, and we use them the whole month of December.

Our church sent out advent boxes that included the candles. Feeling blessed I didn’t have to go searching for advent candles. Love the colored holder idea. Very smart!

I love peas, especially when in season. I even make spring pea soup. Yum. I admit it, I love hamburger helper too
This is helpful to me cos I have to eat gluten-free (celiac disease), and gf hamburger kits come in limited flavors. I can use gf pasta for these.
These videos are so helpful for me to be more cost effective and hands on with the meals that I make for my family.

My fav is Cheesy Hashbrown HH, but it’s hard to find! Occasionally Walmart has it. We love to add breakfast sausage and eat it for breakfast when we camp!

My Mom like ONLY made HH growing up and this one was my favorite one. I am literally STILL sick of ALL the hother HH box kits to this day.... but the hash brown one is so good...

Happy New Year Mindy! I haven't done an at home Hamburger Helper in years or even the boxed kind come to think of it. Thanks for the reminder. I love the Christmas plates. It's funny what you learn about your husband after all these years. Funny story about Hamburger Helper. When I was married, we were sitting watching tv, a hamburger helper commercial came on. He saw it and said, I would never ever eat that stuff, it wouldn't taste like yours...well I didn't say anything. The next day after the older 2 went to school, the younger one and I went to the store and got some. We didn't say a word until after he ate 3 plate full. At that point, I said did you like it... he loved it. That is when I said do you know what you ate? He said ya and continued to tell me what he ate. I said nope... you just ate the equivalent of 1 1/2 boxes of hamburger helper. He went into the trash and found the boxes. He never said something like that again, of course I never served it to him again either. I always just made my own.

I also love Hamburger Helper ! But it has way too much sodium in it for my husband’s diet. I am so happy you posted these recipes ! They look amazing and I will be making them all ! Peas and Lima beans are the only green veggies that my husband likes! Weird, right? Lol
Mindy has sooooo many amazing ideas but my man is super picky he will only eat 3 veggies-spinach, broccoli and cucumber and doesn't like any creamy sauce so he is a challenge to cook healthy for but im working on it!
I haven't cooked with lentils before. What kind do you use, and how do you prepare them? I don't know what my family will think, but if it will help stretch the budget, I'll give it a try. :)
Nice to have time off, I am casual and I take off Christmas to the New Year , I can just take time off when I want . The vaccines are rolling out here in BC Canada for front line workers and I am getting mine on Wednesday and back to work tomorrow, I am in palliative care .
Karin, they're rolling out here, too, just for medical/frontline and senior citizens right now, but I am so ready to get mine!

Where do you purchase the beef broth base? I love the idea of not having to purchase and store quarts of broth!
I just get it at Walmart. It’s really hard for me to find a good quality broth anyway so I went back to using broth base or better than bouillon.
@@SeeMindyMom do you have a preference? I have tried Better than Bouillon and like it. I have never tried "broth base" in your video (just bouillon cubes).
@seemindymom do you think all lentils would work?
I think it would be fine, but I’m no lentil expert, so not sure what the difference is.
My husband and I have been together for over 10 years and he didn’t know that I dislike peas very much. One night when I came home from work late, he made a tuna casserole and used what seemed to be a whole bag of frozen peas. I couldn’t eat it, even with picking out the peas. The taste of peas was overwhelming. He said “I didn’t know you didn’t like peas.” I said “didn’t you ever wonder why we never had peas in the house???” We both started laughing.

No idea on a substitute, I'd just leave them out.

My family is weird. We love hamburger helper but don't like it with the full amount of beef. We always make a twin pack with one lb of beef.

I am not a fan of them myself unless they are "hidden" in a soup or a pasta dish or something.
