MUSKY FISHING AN UNPAINTED TOPWATER LURE?! - Sometimes Color Doesn't Matter

- I head out on the Madison Chain to do a little musky fishing with good buddy Noah Humfeld of Madison Angling Guide Service and Madison Angling TH-cam channel. We find a few active fish, but cant get them to go on blades, so Noah throws on a Lee Lures wood colored flaptail (unpainted, just clear-coated wood) and scores a beautiful 42.5" Mad Chain muskie!

@@AnglingAnarchy that was nuts! There is a spot on the Chip where I am 3/3 this year where I say "I feel like we are gonna get one here" they didn't always hit the bag but we had a shot each time. Hope I was able to get my audio of that, might have to steal that strategy from you more often haha!
Why do people dislike pike so much? I know a lot of bass guys hate them. Caught my first pike in Canada in the late 90's. I was hooked after that.
Not a lot where I live but I love pike fishing. I get it, they're not the elusive musky and they bite off bass lines, but I truly enjoy fishing for them.
AS3 SXP I love pike fishing when I'm targeting them, but when your expecting a muskie, it can be a little bit of a let down. Still cool to see them and a good way to break up the monotony of chasing musky!

Great video. Question for you; People refer to Pike as Slimers, Snot Rockets, etc. I've caught lots of Pike but never a Muskie. Are Muskies as slimy as Pike are? Just curious.

Do you ever upsize hooks on topwater baits? I was at one point 75% hook up ratio now I am down to around 50%. Any tips/ bait mods, specifically prop tail baits? Thanks. Awesome video
James Koehler I usually don't upsize the hooks on any of my topwater baits. Doesn't mean you couldn't give it a try though.
How many leech lake fish have been stocked in Madison. Every year? Clubs pay for that or state?
Esox Addict I believe 300-400 are put in Monona every year. The club pays for it as far as I know.
