That's not a "phone holder", it's the phone preparation set, which means that if you want to be able to directly connect your phone to the car (for charging it, for instance), BMW will install your phone's attachment to that "phone holder".
Damn right. When I was a kid, every car was RWD, and we easily got along fine in the back seat, even in the presence of that "humongous" transmission tunnel. We even enjoyed it!
Yes, what a stupid complain. I mean, just spread your legs a little...problem solved! And to complain about the fact that there are too many ways to move the seat is also dumb... But I like Matt's reviews anyway!
No Need for adaptable suspension, swap out the run flat tyres for normal tyres and there is such a comfortable difference. Run flats are likw cart wheels.
@whateverman1028 4WD is standard on the X3 which makes it very appealing for people who live in countries with snowy winters. It is also better looking then an estate and will carry as much luggage, and you get good, comfortable overview of the road from the tall driving position.
This looks like a much better car than the last one. But there is no way I would waste my hard earned money on a crossover, they are useless as 4x4s and they do not handle as well as cars either. If you are going to build a 4x4 build a good one, if you are going to build a car build a good one, but one vehicle cannot excel at both.
see that i can agree on...when u pay $40000 dollars u want ur car to be quick....when i pay $40000 i want my car to be comfortable for me...and thats y i have a different opinion and think this car NEEDS electric seats
Lol about the decent size glove box...BMW´s gloveboxes are more of an afterthought, lol...hellishly small. But they will always remain as "THE driver car".
@fisics22 Probably because the North American countries buy more SUV's than anywhere else so I guess BMW decided to have them all built at their US division.
can you make a review on the x1 please. i have to choose between the 1 series and the x1 (i know there's a big price difference) and i dont know which one to go for
@justnotcricket Totally correct. Actually I adjust my driver seat (longitudinally) so I don´t have to squeeze my legs between the steering wheel and the external part of the cushion. The previous owner of my E90 kept doing that and cracked the seat. I just slide the seat all the way to the back before getting out, when getting in I just fall on it and slide it forward. So I do adjust it every day, but don´t need an electric motor to move that small distance. Electric seats are pointless, lol...
the mobile phone requires an adaptor for your specific phone. How ever I agree I spend 199 on mine when I bought my x5 and its useless, audio quality is just as good through the USB or bluetooth audio, and I have no problem with reception whether hooked up to that thing or not.
@MrBazpoker Not sure what you're on about: according to 2010 Consumer Reports, 5 of BMW's 11 models rank "below average," with the X5 and X6 ranking as "far below average." The turbo inline six found in the 1, 3 and 5 series has had a large amount of problems related to the fuel system. My friend's 2009 128i has been sent back to BMW 5 times for electrical problems, and my dad's 2004 X5 has been repaired 8 times (also electrical problems) since we bought it in 2008.
I just can't understand why a large transmission tunel renders the midle seat useless.. It is pretty simple: the person in the midle puts his feet next to it! Not on top of it!
In the U.S The Acura RDX Turbo is a true winner over this car! with a 2.4 turbo 4cyl engine this would walk on the 3.0 diesel! I love BMW's but not diesel
yeah i agree asweel ... my father he drives an SUV but he does alot of long trips and in my country there are not so many highways yet...they are all under construction and i think in the next generation they will be ready:))..but he needs a SUV both for carying stuff asweel for saftey on these really unsafe roads.. I on the other hand will stick to my small alfa 147 and maybe in the future a 3 series since i only use my car for traveling mostly in the city
supersheepard automatics are boring in many cars but the autos from bmw are brilliant, because they are more efficient and faster than the manual. my friend Mickey Hash has got a 3 series manual and its funny but after a while you will need the auto in town and on the motorway because its more relaxing to drive
@TheFedererNadallover It depends on your needs. If you want to do some off-road then you should get the X3. If not, then get the E-class, both are very luxurious but I think the E-class is a bit more. Although, I think the x3 is a bit cheaper, so you could get one with some extra options for the base price of the E-class.
" As for other other problems , I find the seating annoying because there are far too many levers, so you don't know what does what." I bet this guy still has a Motorola Razr cos phones have too many apps, and I imagine he struggles with a remote control for the TV "
An alfa, nice :) And driving a 4x4 in a country where half the roads arn't finished is completely understandable! But in england we have a real problem with these oversized cars filling up the roads and putting people in danger, and they're not used off road at all, simply status symbols for people who's souls are dead.
Great all rounder. Find me another car capable of seeing off sports cars whilst carrying a wadrobe in the back. X5 is great. If you want something bigger and slower in standard form. Twin turbo model is ridiculous!
So just because your old you need to adjust the seats 24/7? No i would never freak out if someone change the settings it takes me half the time to adjust it back manually than with electric motors. I dont see the problem if you want electric motors you tell bmw when you buy the car, its simple...
I have said this so many times, but I every time I see a new video I get amazed of how good Mat is reviewing cars!
1:30
"Whose mobile phone is that big?" xD
I love watching Mat's reviews of cars I'll never be able to afford.
Now you can.
@@nicolasfarah2092 haha, was going to say the exact thing
@@robertseglitis5261 i believe he still does not own it yet.
Hey man. I wish you to have the car you dream of! Have a nice day :)

BMW's straight six engines are perfection in engineering. I hate that most manufacturers are slowly replacing them with V6's....
Damn right. When I was a kid, every car was RWD, and we easily got along fine in the back seat, even in the presence of that "humongous" transmission tunnel. We even enjoyed it!
1 leg on each side of the driveshaft tunnel? Thats how we've been doing for the last 30 years.
Yes, what a stupid complain. I mean, just spread your legs a little...problem solved!
And to complain about the fact that there are too many ways to move the seat is also dumb... But I like Matt's reviews anyway!
When he says "who's phones that big?"
Welcome to 2020
Even I thought of it
Very true
Bmw new it all along, how big they'd get
I really like the new x3 it is now not for people who cant afford x5, but a properly good SUV.
I thought he was going to say "The boot is massive, there's easily enough room for a whole family to fit in it"
I wish we had more diesels, too. Keep in mind that this is the UK mileage. In the US, it's closer to upper 30s, which is still pretty good.
What a nice color!

Oh, my car. Blue 3.0 with beige leather :)
yep one foot on the right the other on the left, or on long journeys u can put them in the front row if it's an automatic
I can feel it's quietness and smoothness.
the mans obsessed with glove boxes and big bottles! still love the reviews though all on HD too good work!
Best looking small SUV, especially with this Msport package, put it on my driveway NOW.
I know right! It is not like if you put your feet to the side you are going to hog up the person's leg space on the side.
Got to be the best car reviewer on youtube!
Best car reviewer on the web. keep up the good work Matt! :D

I wish they offered the diesel in north america... That kind of performance + 40+ MPG = amazing!
sometimes if you want to shift or move around in the car, it gets in the way. it is a minor gripe though.
this is how the passionate man looks like :)

im really looking forward to this car after my graduation! :))
Already get it?
Then what if the transmission tunnel is too wide
the engine on the 2010-present BMW X3
Engine
3.0L I6 (240 HP)
3.0L Twin Turbo I6 (300 HP)
2.0L Diesel I4 (184 HP)
2l is better
question : why are the X-series of BMW , made in the US unlike other cars such as 7-series and 5-series etc. which are made in Germany itself ?
Cost saving for US sales. Cheaper to bring in dissembled and assembled in the US
I'm sure i've seen loads of 2.0L's with an auto gear box lol
The X5 will never be redundant...
Lol about the decent size glove box...BMW´s gloveboxes are more of an afterthought, lol...hellishly small. But they will always remain as "THE driver car".
I believe this looks better than the x5.
Hehehee! Funny, Mat didn't know mobile phones would get S21 ultra big in just a couple of yrs
so the big question now - X3 or RR Evoque?
The UK gallon is 4.55 liters, versus the US gallon at 3.79 liters, which is why MPG numbers are higher. Also, the EPA tests are a little different.
@fisics22 Probably because the North American countries buy more SUV's than anywhere else so I guess BMW decided to have them all built at their US division.
Hold up…. Is that X3 really really big or is the guy reviewing it a really small dude?
That aside - nicely done thanks.
If you realy want a BMW suv, then just buy the X5 ;)
new X3 is fine, but it still is 'just' the little brother of the X5
can you make a review on the x1 please. i have to choose between the 1 series and the x1 (i know there's a big price difference) and i dont know which one to go for
Is 2.0d good or 3.0 300hp??
How many if you take your X3 Camping? ✋🏼 I sure do, And she moves through neatish trails like a charm!

Great review. I thought the seat was gonna come right off the rails at 3:30 haha.
Hahaha hahaha 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😅😅😅
Can someone answer if its good and comfy for long rides behind and in the front
which one should i buy?bmw x 3 x drive or audi q5 quattro?which has better traction sistem?

i think they should differentiate the SUV line. It's sort of the same problem with Mercs in my opinion.
Good review!
Great vid!
Stonking. Mat's reviews kick ass.
It would seem pretty cool if the United States allowed a Diesel version of this.
Even if there ISN'T a large transmission tunnel you'll still have your feet streched out into the other peoples feet-space.
@nature10879 because the US gallon is smaller than the UK (Imperial) gallon. Hence less miles per US gallon ;)
supersheepard automatics are boring in many cars but the autos from bmw are brilliant, because they are more efficient and faster than the manual. my friend Mickey Hash has got a 3 series manual and its funny but after a while you will need the auto in town and on the motorway because its more relaxing to drive

SUVs are better for 4 wheel dirve because of their raised suspension and offroad options (typically).
if SUV's keep getting faster than hatchbacks...blimey
Great color. Is it deep sea blue or imperial blue??
The gearstick makes it look like the center console is nursing a semi
It is the same size as the x5 by I expect with the x5 you are mostly paying for the name
" As for other other problems , I find the seating annoying because there are far too many levers, so you don't know what does what."

Or one foot on the left of the transmission tunel and the other one on the right
They said that about the first generation of this car. This second generation has been vastly improved, as noted by basically all of the reviewers.
Why is the UK mileage different than the US mileage? Is it because of the emissions crap the US requires?
Make a review of the X1 too please!
I love this car but I hate automatics and diesels.
Can somebody tell me about fuel consumption in city traffic? I am asking about 2.0 gasoline
An alfa, nice :) And driving a 4x4 in a country where half the roads arn't finished is completely understandable! why people cant get it that you dont need SUV to have 4 weeldrive. you can get 4 weeldrive in all kind of cars and class.
What is it with this two presenters and the cup holders???
I don't know why the X3's transmission tunnel big like this .. I own an X5 and you barely can feel a transmission tunnel .. its all flat !
Number of gears? Please..
8
i buyed one x3.its awsome
Where did you buyed it
But is the steering wheel offset??

So just because your old you need to adjust the seats 24/7? No i would never freak out if someone change the settings it takes me half the time to adjust it back manually than with electric motors. I dont see the problem if you want electric motors you tell bmw when you buy the car, its simple...
please make a q5 vs x3 video , thanx :)
BMW X3 Vs Mercedes Benz E class? Anyone ? Which one should i go for? Thx
