    Dad used to flood an out door rink years back for the town. First he would remove all the snow. Then he would continuously spray the outer edges to create a water tight edge for the water to be flooded within.Just enough to soak but not so much it wouldn't freeze fast. Because you have a down hill section I would also build up some vertical lines on the hillside so the water would be held in place, rather than running down the slope and common sense says the closer the vertical lines the more landscape hugging and precise the transitions. He would then give it a light but full coverage flood to and leave it freeze well to seal the bottom. After that he would just repeat flooding until the ice was thick enough. Adding hockey lines and circles. Smoothness was determined by the amount of water laid down to ensure the entire surface was flooded and even. While Crack prevention and such were avoided by ensuring you weren't putting down too much. It's the same way they did the curling rink ice. How much water? I never saw him put down more than a 1/2 inch in a heavy flood Usually about a quart inch starting out so it would freeze instead of melting the base and soaking in. This was done rather quickly as he used an 1 1/2" fire hose to do it.

      fs should! in tennessee its never cold enough to do anything like this so i have to go all the way to nashville to skate most days, its not really much of a commute, but it would be grate to skate in my own back yard:). it does suck having to drive an hour or so for practice and training most days bc theres only one girls team for tn. but anyways im sure your girls would love this ( also theres a video on my channel of some glass seats i have:)).

    1 need a better hose set up (cant use buckets need alot of water to make that fine finish
    2 remove snow and pack the rest down
    3 do many layers over 2-3 day time period or if long enough trail use a hose reel to move back up to the top to start the process over again
    hose reel would allow u to roll the hose back up while continually laying water down could even before the ground freezes put in poles with hoops to run hose through to keep it up(just keep away from the trial so its not something someone hurts themselves on)

  • @djomegaminus

    I'd use an ATV to pack down the trail with the lawn roller, add and remove snow by hand to make the trail even, then go over it with the same ATV with an ATV broadcast sprayer on the back and then finish smooth it with the roller and by hand. It'd save alot of futzin' around, heavy lifting and hand work and also takes away alot of the long hoses and the risk of stuff freezing.

    • @djomegaminus
      @djomegaminus 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The brown sh!# is scale from the boiler, And you can blow the hoses dry with an air compressor, and if you do it outside in the cold and minimal water left in the hose will freeze whiles it is coiled up until you use it.
    Then after you pump you could pour windshield washer into your suction on the pump and blow that down the hose. Get the closest jabronee with a decent set of wind pipes to blow o2 through the hose to push the window wash throw or just walk the line out holding it above your head.

    I know this is late but... I kinda have an idea for your path making DIY stuff.
    Buy 2 steel barrels. 1 should be small enough to fit inside the other.
    Tack brackets on each end or weld the small barrel in the dead center of the big barrel. Punch out holes on each end, and set in some ball bearings *basically like your roller you have in this but with a barrel in the middle.
    Obviously your going to want an opening somewhere. I'm thinking on the side. Anyway. Essentially. your going to put hot coals in the middle barrel. lock it. *vents obviously but we wanna keep the fire in the middle. So now you have a heat roller.
    I have no idea if this will work great, but if you can fill 100 gallon drum inside a 500 gallon drum, that should be PLENTY of heat to keep this thing rolling clean.
    If we had ice like yall do I would build one just to see.
