No matter what you do , remember your making memories for your kids … it lasts a life time … your an awesome Dad ! Many men out there can take some pointers … and I have seen. A few awsome dads on TH-cam making winter fun memories for there kids . Keep up the good job 👍 ❤️🇨🇦❤️
Dad used to flood an out door rink years back for the town. First he would remove all the snow. Then he would continuously spray the outer edges to create a water tight edge for the water to be flooded within.Just enough to soak but not so much it wouldn't freeze fast. Because you have a down hill section I would also build up some vertical lines on the hillside so the water would be held in place, rather than running down the slope and common sense says the closer the vertical lines the more landscape hugging and precise the transitions. He would then give it a light but full coverage flood to and leave it freeze well to seal the bottom. After that he would just repeat flooding until the ice was thick enough. Adding hockey lines and circles. Smoothness was determined by the amount of water laid down to ensure the entire surface was flooded and even. While Crack prevention and such were avoided by ensuring you weren't putting down too much. It's the same way they did the curling rink ice. How much water? I never saw him put down more than a 1/2 inch in a heavy flood Usually about a quart inch starting out so it would freeze instead of melting the base and soaking in. This was done rather quickly as he used an 1 1/2" fire hose to do it.
fs should! in tennessee its never cold enough to do anything like this so i have to go all the way to nashville to skate most days, its not really much of a commute, but it would be grate to skate in my own back yard:). it does suck having to drive an hour or so for practice and training most days bc theres only one girls team for tn. but anyways im sure your girls would love this ( also theres a video on my channel of some glass seats i have:)).
Next year get a 50 gallon drum, mount is on a pole so you can roll it by pushing it. Fill the barrel with cement and BOOM you got a snow steam roller. Similar to the lawn roller but WAY heavier
I used to drive on ice roads in the Arctic and they did it just like you guys, pack and level it then add water and grade. They would maintain it fixing pot holes. There was heavy truck traffic using it.
Hi coach jeremy im playing hockey in the philippines since 2005 love your channel. Im already 40 years old but i love ice :) my son is now playing hockey at the age of 4 and his loving it. more power to your youtube channel. stay safe hope to see more hockey videos soon
So for the ice trail THE LAWN ROLLER can be filled with sand water even rock it helps weigh it down to get a perfect even roll every time. I recommend you using water to fill it with 1 it flows inside it easily 2 its definitely the heavier out of the 3 I named
This is what a good TH-camr does they give a sneak peak then they actually show how it was made. Instead of making 100 shorts trying to get as many views as possible.
You should've ran that antifreeze into a bucket so you can reuse it instead of dumping toxic liquid right on your front lawn other than that awesome video 👍
Every year my uncle and family would turn their whole back yard into an ice rink. After a good snow fall we would have a stomping party. My aunt would make hot chocolate and treats and all the rest of us would spend the day stomping down the snow with just are boots on. So much fun.
Use to ice skate on the road growing up. I was able to go two miles to friends house. Look on people face passing my brother and I skating full speed down the road they are driving on haha
I'd use an ATV to pack down the trail with the lawn roller, add and remove snow by hand to make the trail even, then go over it with the same ATV with an ATV broadcast sprayer on the back and then finish smooth it with the roller and by hand. It'd save alot of futzin' around, heavy lifting and hand work and also takes away alot of the long hoses and the risk of stuff freezing.
The brown sh!# is scale from the boiler, And you can blow the hoses dry with an air compressor, and if you do it outside in the cold and minimal water left in the hose will freeze whiles it is coiled up until you use it. Then after you pump you could pour windshield washer into your suction on the pump and blow that down the hose. Get the closest jabronee with a decent set of wind pipes to blow o2 through the hose to push the window wash throw or just walk the line out holding it above your head.
My heart hurt when I saw you just flip the tamper over on its side at the end of the video. Always tilt it forward so you don't get oil in the air cleaner. Anyway can't wait for the next video :)
Am i only that still see the shara ishvalda at 3:48 when you heard it ? Because we still don't have rly lot of people use it for montage ? (Sadly he use the repeated one.. i was waiting the dropping..) His eyes ;-;
I know this is late but... I kinda have an idea for your path making DIY stuff. Buy 2 steel barrels. 1 should be small enough to fit inside the other. Tack brackets on each end or weld the small barrel in the dead center of the big barrel. Punch out holes on each end, and set in some ball bearings *basically like your roller you have in this but with a barrel in the middle. Obviously your going to want an opening somewhere. I'm thinking on the side. Anyway. Essentially. your going to put hot coals in the middle barrel. lock it. *vents obviously but we wanna keep the fire in the middle. So now you have a heat roller. I have no idea if this will work great, but if you can fill 100 gallon drum inside a 500 gallon drum, that should be PLENTY of heat to keep this thing rolling clean. If we had ice like yall do I would build one just to see.
Nobody wants to call out the fact that she put the can in there tap facing upward the next scene of the can tap is facing downward towards the slide and then back to Upward and then back to downward right before he catches it
You can do it!, I’ve taught skating for 20+ years, 1) Pad up! Homemade 1/4 inch foam (eg. Mountain bike foam) on boney parts: elbow, hip, tailbone, knee pads, onto tight pajamas, or cheap Costco Baselayers 2. Helmet with Face Mask- prevent concussion and dental damage. 3. Skates based on the shape of your foot. Eg. Skate cannot be too long. heel should be locked inToe nail should just scrape the front when standing. 3/8 gap when u are in an athletic squat and laces are snug and tight.

Pam cooking spray will help prevent snow from sticking to lawn roller if you ever try it again.
Next year get a 50 gallon drum, mount is on a pole so you can roll it by pushing it. Fill the barrel with cement and BOOM you got a snow steam roller. Similar to the lawn roller but WAY heavier
And WAY HARDER TO PUSH AND PULL
We use to pack our sliding trail with a snow machine and then use the hose to slick it up!
100% what I should do. Way easier 😩

This is amazing!! Looks like so much fun ! I miss the snow so much!
Build a metal sled, fill it with firewood, set ablaze and tow it up&down the track. Melts and compacts snow plus is heck of a show for video
You should buy a quad and put a plow on it or drag a trail making attachment.
💯 doing that next year
Oh make vids about my back yard rink on me chnnl and we were thinking to make the odr longer next year and use the garage as a warming shack!

The lawn roller, you usually put water in them to make them heavier, have to drain it before it freezes, if you own it fill with sand.
We filled it with antifreeze

If you're willing to go to effort of using the pressure washer, why not just get a plate compactor to pack your trail down?
