    Always adjust the fan curve for the laptop before gaming.
    or set it to gaming mode or whatever so the fans ramp up properly.
    otherwise if it's waiting to ramp the fans up until you hit 99C, then you're still losing performance.
    fans should be at 100% @ anytime over 80C.

    • @ZaneofAustin
      @ZaneofAustin ปีที่แล้ว +4

      and remember for most laptops the GPU and CPU share a heatsync, so allowing the fans to work more, will improve the cpu and gpu.

    I got the 15.6” model, i7 11800H cpu, 3070 GPU (85w) and it’s very good at 1080p. Cost £850, plus I spent £150 on another 2tb ssd. The cpu runs too hot though (90-100 degrees) even at low loads. It’s unacceptable and not good in the long term. So, I changed the settings to 99% max usage on the cpu, so it wouldn’t turbo-charge to full power. That keeps the temps down and my fps still seem fine.

    I'm running my 11400h with 2 disabled cores to reach higher all core turbo frequiencies at 4.3ghz with my overclocked 3060 MSI GF66 katana. The bottom cover is super bad designed since it covers the fan intake. Either take the backcover off or do as I did and cut the plastic off so it can recieve fresh air. I went from 95c to about 75 degrees. Also lift the computer up a bit does a huge difference.

    Not personally a fan of the 3050 ti, especially when it is paired with something like the 12700. It is super underpowered for the cpu making the specs rather imbalanced, if they made them with a 12400 it would make more sense. The laptop is amazing but the temperature scares me it should not be close to 100° c my current laptop is a lot weaker but it only stays around 40 or 50° c in my specs are HP pavilion gaming laptop 2021 version AMD ryzen 5 5600h with a 1650 with 24 gigs of RAM. And I have my laptop in a cool environment and I would be scared if my laptop hits 80°c. Oof

    ik this is purely anecdotal, but everyone i know that has owned an msi laptop has had issues with it within a year. their build quality feels absolutely terrible, I've tried a few of their laptops and the hinges feel like they would snap if you breathed on them too hard.

    $200 more and you could get a zephyrus 14... 6900hs, 6700s 1tb gen 4 ssd, 2560x1600 120hz display.

    • @12pandemon
      @12pandemon ปีที่แล้ว

      14 inches is small, but it's an ultra portable laptop that's significantly faster, lighter, and much better battery life. I'd sacrifice screen size any day for a more portable device.

    • @enea_7280
      @enea_7280 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just returned my g14 zephyrus. The fans turn off completely at low loads of daily use making the laptop hot even when you're just watching a video on TH-cam. It ran games great and has a nice screen but it's just not worth it imo due to how bad it is at dissipating heat when idle. After playing a game, it would remain at like 60 degrees even after exiting the game. It has either bad build quality, cooling system, etc.

    The problem of theses MSI laptops (GL or GF) of this generation is the hinges... they screw automaticly when you open and close the laptop and break the shell or the sreen. They have good specs tho but keep in mind MSI's laptops are REALY fragile .😑
    And the CPU is overheating frequently if you don't clean it frequently... that's why they are cheap

      I got Acer Nitro 5 with Ryzen 5600H, 95w RTX 3060, 144hz IPS display, 512gb m.2 nvme ssd, 8gb RAM for $650. I upgraded to 32gb dual rank dual channel 3200mhz RAM JDEC with 22-22-22-52 timing since XMP wasn't an option and added 1TB WD SN570 for another $150. $800 total for a beast. It's crazy how pricing fluctuates depending on when you buy.
