It just hit me not too long ago that this is the first game with fully animated unique entrances, full Titantron videos playing on the tron. This is wrestling game history
2001 was by far The Rock's best theme. The drums after "if ya smell" honestly hits my ears in a unique way. Fantastic work from Jim Johnston
Always thought this was his worst theme.
It was the absolute worst and watered down version
98 and 99 (wwf the music vol 3 + 4) are the 🐐
I loved it. His worst imo .. is his theme now. . Or the one he’s been using every since he returned in 2011.

Best entrances ever. They are fun, and straight to the point and don’t drag on for ever.
The original case of this game had the WWF logo on the cover. But, by the time it came out as a part of the "PS2 Greatest Hits" collection, WWF changed to WWE. Therefore, the cover was changed to have the WWE logo and the game remained the same with the WWF logo and dialogue referring to it as WWF
it also happened with smackdown 2 know your role, in the rerelease in 2002 the logo was changed to the ruthless agression era one of that time, and the wwf logo was changed to the wwe one
is funny how in that rerelease in the cover art, chyna still appears, even if she already left the company in really bad terms, same for eddie guerrero

Wasn’t a fan of Austin’s theme here, but thankfully the game also had his Disturbed theme so I changed his intro music to that one right away

@@Retro_Gamer_89 If I remember correctly, you had to first unlock him as a playable character, then you could edit his theme in the create a superstar section of the game, though...it has been a very long time since i played this game, so i may be wrong.
@@MrBobinaterStone Cold is unlocked by default, I think the disturbed version is called Stone Cold 2 so just switch to Stone Cold 2

His face is quite simple, since he is bold you will notice it more, his beard is the only important facial feature you would remember

me and a friend use to create our own version of wwf at that time with this game we would make cards for raw/smackdown and the ppv each month... record them on vcr tapes...

It was the first WWF game on PS2, and I think it was rushed. Shut Your Mouth was a much better game that came after it.
The Alliance is referenced in the game with the WCW and ECW logos in the Create A Wrestler options.

Now that I’m older I realize that this game along with Know Your Role & Shut your Mouth came from The Rock’s catchphrases. Anyway, I miss the simple animations from back then. Very nostalgic

Man watching all these entrances just makes it more apparent that most current themes are absolute garbage, I could tell immediately who these belonged to but if you played a few current themes I would struggle to place many that aren't obvious like Reigns or Rollins

@@XX-vu5jo Yes he had, it's one of his early alliance themes named "Dangerous". Just search for his entrance on the July 26th 2001 edition of Smackdown.
Alternatively he also had his "Shattered Glass" in the game as well.
