Love how it sounds like garbage and loops at just the right time. So accurate to the N64 cart limitations of that time! Lol
the music is definitely still way too high quality for what actually would have been in this game. I followed the development of WWF No Mercy very closely online throughout 2000 as the game was being produced, and remember an interview with AKI/Asmik where they claimed that they had finally figured out a compression method that allowed for much higher quality music than what WrestleMania 2000 had, and that they were very proud of the result. The audio in this video is much closer to what would have been in No Mercy. Go back and listen to what the Nitro theme actually sounds like in Revenge. It sounds way more garbage than this.
But still a great video and would have been awesome if the game could have come on a big enough cart to have done this.
The longer i go through the video, some of the tracks do sound pretty good. Like Disco Inferno you nailed. But other ones like DDP, Harlem Heat, Macho Man, nWo sound too high quality. I think Harlem Heat only would have been the synth hook with no voice clips for instance. That Juventud Guerrera theme is another example of one that is way too high quality to actually be in Revenge
I wonder if a rom hacked with the themes would necessarily have to have the same limitations of a cart. The only reason they didn't have 1 gb carts back then was either lack of technology or cost or both. Roms shouldn't have that limitation, should they?
Exactly. Legendary comment.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
They would have gotten so much value per cart space from just adding that NWO theme loop. It applies to so many people on the roster.
And the Wolfpac as well
Exactly, there should have been 3 themes for the wrestlers --- WCW theme (Nitro), nWo black & white, and nWo Wolfpack. That's all they needed.
LOL I never thought of that but you're 100% right
@jonathanturbide2232
Not really.
DOP and Goldberg needed their own. Something unique for the luchidors too.
@@CurlyFromTheSwirly One or two songs for each faction would've been enough. Maybe 3 or 4 for the WCW roster because it was so big. But NWO, Raven's flock, and the AKI team just needed one or two
I like how you even got the music looping part in as well.
That's the charm of the Aki wrestling games on the N64: timeless gameplay, limited and compressed audio.
@@AO17not wwf no mercy it had near full themes
miss the chance to put vudo child for hogan lol
this is great!
@Derrick Walter you are both bots
the most random shit I've ever heard and newlegacyinc yeaaa
@Kohen Gael nobody cares
This just makes me appreciate the sheer talent of these video game developers. The character models still look great 20+ years later. Most of their mannerism and tics are there, makes you want to pick it up and play it again.
They did a really good job giving the game an authentic WCW feel. Actual unique entrance themes(and maybe some slight improvements to the AI) would have made the game perfect.
Game looks better than No Mercy imo but it could just be the brighter colors
@@cfrank777 the WCW aesthetic from '98 also helps
@@StoneColdSergio ohhhh yeaaaaaah!
Lets be honest. Models are ok, the texture work really does show its age. But it is an iconic look nonetheless, You can't Say that with a lot of games, Even wrestling games!
As the managers, Virgil comes out like a diva. And Rick Rude comes out as a normal wrestler. Much respect for that
WCW Revenge would be the perfect WCW game if it were like this .
It already was but this woulda made to swoon coom
If they had commentary with and Bobby the Brain Heenan and Tony‼️‼️‼️
This would have made this an infinitely better game than it already was
Always said the only thing missing was the music
Imagine with mayhems commentary
An if you could run an grapple weapons that don’t disappear an go back stage
It would make the game perfect
This game was crap, the entrace "music" gives me nightmares to this day and so do the weirdass faces of the wrestlers :D If you want something infinitely better just play the PS1 Smackdown games.
Dude, i love how you made it all compressed
Of these... DDP, Juvi, Disco Inferno and surprisingly Alex Wright are the ones that fit best with the animations
I can not fathom how much work must've been done to make this happen. Bra fucking vo man.
Goldberg's nightmare smile
18:04 Look out! Here comes Loch Nes...oh its Rey Mystero Jr.
Underrated comment right here ❤️
That Alex Wright entrance was beyond godly!
Scott Steiner looked like Norm from Cheers for a minute
Compressed with shorts loops? *chef's kiss*

For the time this was the best wrestling game. Absolutely loved this back on the n64!
This game was the reason I got an N64. I prefer Wrestlemania 2000, but still play this game too.
That was the only problem I had with this game. I was really disappointed when I first played it and noticed, that the original themes weren't implemented. The successor WWF Wrestlemania 2000 was such a huge step forward when it comes to this.
Mines too especially when they advertised that the real music was going to be in the game.
@@pauljohnson936 they advertised it?
Yeah they did, If I remember correctly was it in a Gamepro magazine. @@BUPMY1
I was so confused because the game guide said that it included their real intro music but then it didn't.
@@BUPMY1 yeah it was even in the game guide stating it would be. I was super confused at the time that it wasn.t
Big props for pairing Savage and DDP together.
GOLDBERG! GOLDBERG! GOLDBERG!
This is so nostalgic and hella cool editing and compression with the audio to have it fit with the aesthetic, you even have it looping. That’s so sick dude. Love this video
This is so much better!
Glacier with that entrance and music is perfect.
Nice! Revenge would have been significantly better if they had the actual wrestler themes. Looped and compressed is still better then what we got.
Now that full game mods that work with real hardware are starting to become a thing this may be possible. A Wrestlemania 2000 mod called WCW Saturday Night adds loads of music and pretty much a full game overhaul.
Back when I trusted THQ games
>The super low quality
>The 10 to 15 second loops
It’s so perfect dude.
This was only a thing for wrestlemania 2000 tho wwf no mercy had near full themes
I was 15 years old. This makes my eyes water.
NWO theme is phenomenal
Their faces still give me nightmares nearly 25 years later.....
Wrath! I didn't think you'd include him for obvious reasons. Very cool video. If this and Flair were in the game, it'd be nearly flawless.
They need to remaster this game
Thank you for giving Chris Benoit his real theme you gotta love this hack
Soooo I'm currently playing an thought about this.. Went to look for mods an cheats an found THIS.. Amazing!!! This straight 🔥
this is exactly what im doing right now lol
@@michaelgyamfi7041 need the link Brother. Hope it's low end compatible
In this alternate reality, My parents are fuckin PISSED anytime Saturn makes his entrance 😂
Hollywood shouldve walked out to VooDoo Chile!!! but i Love how you got the correct version of Bischoffs music. Dope video!! Love it!! 🤘🏻
The regular nWo theme works too because he came out to it pretty often.
This is realistic tho because he wouldn't have had it in the game.
*Child. But yes, that would be extra cool😎
I always wondered if this was a cart size issue or a licensing one. Given how much it added to WWF2000, it’s crazy that they didn’t make an effort to get it in there.
I think it was a laziness issue.
Wrestlemania 2000 had the themes, was able to add a cage match, and a larger career mode.
The production of entrances wasn't really a priority for WCW until maybe late '99. In those days no one really liked WCW entrance themes because they were largely generic.
@@steves_garage
🙄 lol, ok
The composer must had really liked Nirvana.
Well, every wrestler that had theme were in the raven's flock.
Lots of WCW themes were grunge ripoffs. Raven's music was Come As You Are. Jericho's was Even Flow. DDP was Smells Like Teen Spirit.
Im honestly shocked at how good some of the faces look, actually
Disco Inferno is about as close as you could get with the hardware
My only issue is DDP looks a bit perturbed. I actually made a better DDP in Wrestlemania 2000.
4:34 Generic BIDDLE music! Bee da bee biddlee bee da bee biddlee!
-OSW Review, baby! "Aaaagh!" "Ouch!" "Gahhhh!" "EEeek!"
The lack of original entrance music, match types and story is what makes no mercy the better game. Revenge is like the perfect wcw expansion to no mercy imo…..except for the non entrance music 😆
@Paraone Ngatai No Mercy is the better complete game with the story alone. Remember how long that story mode was? Almost endless.
I prefer WM 2000 over No Mercy.
Better roster... but I do wish WM 2000 had running grapples, like NM does.
Revenge had a lot of cool stuff.
Wrestlemania 2000 had an edge with more moves, entrance themes, and a cage match, as well as the road to Wrestlemania.
No Mercy a cool in theory game.
It has toms of features, but was too slow. I couldn't play it for long.
Perhaps NM was ahead of it's time, but W2000 is a much better game on N64.
I still play W2000 & Revenge.
@@CurlyFromTheSwirly Revenge was better. WM2000 and No Mercy were just WWF characters replacing WCW characters. The new stuff WM2000/No Mercy added(entrance themes, create a player, story mode, backstage and ladder matches) were cool and all but the overall gameplay was the same.
Even as a WCW guy , I don't think revenge is better. It's not just about theme music, but that would have been nice. What you really have in W2000 Is more moves, CAW ability, you can edit all male wrestlers, and the road to Wrestlemania.
Revenge had less moves and less
characters. I didn't care for the
AWF & DAW wrestlers, instead
of putting more WCW guys.
It also didn't have any women
as playable characters.
W2000 lost the handicapped
match, but gained a cage
match and building your own
PPV.
You can't edit female characters
in W2000, which is lame. You can create one, but it only clones the features of the already in game women.
Revenge has the cheat, and
W2000 doesn't. lol (I think it
is a beneficial thing, cause the
game cheats against you.)
Personally, the DDP I created
in W2000 looked better. Plus
the move set I gave to all the
WCW wrestlers I created are
more fitting.
No Mercy is a theory.
It had a lot of features, but the
game moved too slow.
I think it's probably a RAM issue,
but it was not enjoyable.
The gameplay was not the same
on NM. Revenge and W2000 were as you say, the same playability.
The only point I will mention
that W2000 slows down, and
doesn't keep the same movement
and playability, is during a
cage match.
With that being said, even
comparing Revenge to World
Tour, it wasn't the same game
play. Revenge was faster and
smoother.
NM was a throwback to what
WT was like, but with extra
features.
Music doesn't make up for the lack of playability.
Real music would’ve made this the perfect wcw game. Seriously the real wrestler music was the only thing missing from revenge other than that it was perfect.
Na, it missed Ric Flair. A WCW video game can't be perfect without him.
@@jonathanturbide2232,
I took Fit Finley and changed him to Ric Flair
If Riggs and Bagwell had the American Males theme in here.... LMAO!
This game, the wrestlemania 2000 thq game and WWF No Mercy are some of the true best wrestling games control wise. Such simplistic control that most people could do the moves of their favorite wrestlers without involving too much overcomplexity
AEW Fight Forever has these controls 👍💯
Fun fact Yugi Nagata's theme is in one of the option menus in the original game, awesome job on the video!
16:27 That Alex Wright entrance with the song looping like that is absolutely perfect!!!
Oh man, this insane, NEVERMORE...
Rofl the audio legit sounds like RealPlayer 😅🤣😂
I got the idea. Don't feel like listening to the nWo theme 47 times....
hey... that's how everyone felt in 1998 too XD
That was the biggest problem with WCW after 1997. The NWO got really old and annoying at that point.
@@jackcarraway4707,
Nah, we just were bored w Hogan.
Absolutely great work with the compressions and loops. Makes me that much more irritated that THQ didn't try these back in '98.
These, a slightly more in-depth Wrestler Edit and the ability to defend Championships in Exhibition mode, and this would have been untouchable. Would have been even better than the WWF games to me...
Phenomenal, edited perfectly for the game also 👌🏼💯🇺🇸
It’s a shame Ric Flair was taken out!
I wonder if his assets could be hidden in the game, like that unfinished Wrath.
Why was that?😐
@@Davidovar34 he was fired by Eric bishoff in 98 for no showing even though Ric Flair claims that he got approval from WCW executives to take the day off to go to his son’s amateur wrestling match
@@jaysonlikes What? But I remember him still being in Souled out '99
@@Davidovar34 he was rehired in the fall of 98
Hogan needs Voodoo Child. Other than that, solid work!
Most coolest time as a kid had them came out to there own themes like this
I wish rom hacking was more common with the AKI games and something like this could be done. Modding using plugins and gameshark is cool, but it can be kind of complicated and a little buggy. At least VPW2 has some rom hacking.
They really should have done this!! Too bad WrestleMania 2000 beat them at their own game with that one.
LOL, the game was designed by the same company, and Revenge sold better.
Should be a mod for the low ends. The alts would play their og themes (i.e. Sting and Luger would have their non Wolfpac themes as they make their way to the ring in their alternate pre-wolfpac attires.) While the WolfPac Attires would play the nWo WolfPac theme
I'm surprised no one had created a Revenge Mod with WCW Entrance songs.
One have been amazing for the game to be released with correct music
Amazing Work. Love this!!!!!
Bhruh the og Eddie Guerrero 🔥
I wished it had this...I was looking forward when it was being released for it to be on there....but the game was so good it wasn't a big deal
Someone please hack this on a cartridge
2:36 RIP Razor Ramon 🕶
La Parka’s theme was the only one that should have been in
I wish this game had the actual music, more matches and the ability to create a wrestler
I find it hilarious Konnan is in the Wolfpac, but has his theme shouting out the Dungeon of Doom.
This was one of my favorite games as a kid
Awesome! This was the one thing that was missing from the game. Thank you for putting this together!
I never understood why they couldn’t official theme music especially considering a year later WWE got the rights to THQ and put the official theme music for the wrestlers in WWF wrestlemania 2000.
It was a,laziness thing.
A comment here said a lot of WCW music was stolen/borrowed. So they probably didn't want to pay all those royalties.
More than likely due to the cartridge capacity more than anything and the production costs they would have had to increase it since it's not like they had much there to remove and replace it with real stuff.
12:17 Remember when WCW tried to create their own Sub-Zero?
He's missing that one full length entrance music cause there's some that full length on WrestleMania 2000 and No Mercy
Gotta love how it’s got the NWO B team music too 😂
if only this was a mod
04:33 Generic Biddle Intensifies!
Wish we hadn't taken those days for granted
ill never not laugh at goldberg spazzin when he enters
Alex Wright’s entrance is godly
Thats all it was missing,
All I wanted was Nwo theme, Wolfpac theme, Horsemen theme, Flock theme and maybe a few WCW main eventer themes for like Goldberg, DDP and Sting
(Besides adding Ric flair to the roster)
DONT KNOW HOW THE MODDERS HAVEN'T DONE THIS ALREADY
I only played wcw/nwo world tour, wrestlemania 2000, and No Mercy as a kid. I’ve seen videos on Revenge, but no one ever mentioned how no one had their actual entrance themes. I’m just finding that out right now from this video lol I thought they had them this whole time.
Great job
18:07 🐐
I played this game for months as a kid without realizing that middle analog stick on the controller was how you did finishers
Lex Luger's theme.
This game’s cartridge was half the size of WrestleMania 2000’s so that’s why there’s no music. It’s a real shame
Fucking hell, I sure hope Virgil asked for more than a tenner on this one.
This and having syxx in the game would have made it so much better
I would of been still playing this game over wwf wrestlemania 2000 if they only had their theme songs.
Even as a WCW guy, I prefer W2000. It has more moves, more match options (except losing the handicapped match), has create a,wrestle ability, as well as the road to Wrestlemania (vs playing 6 matches without saving) and building your own PPV.
That’s a no for me, wm2000 was just better
@@Ralphdawg,
What if Revenge & W2000 were the exact same game except the premade wreetlers?
Perfectly done.
The GameShark Brian Adams hack. Nice!! I wonder does the single leg crab mess up, like mines did. Lol
I wish syxx was in this game.
He was in wCw vs nWo world tour but he had been fired/left wCw for the wwf at this point
@@timothyparryjropen ok!
If revenge had the tunes my god
The only thing missing in revenge is the theme songs
No wrestling game is perfect. No Mercy has bad entrances and HCTP has Hillbilly Jim
@@dxp5393 I actually like jim
It didn't because as even admitted by Eric Bischoff, himself, most of the theme songs were rip offs from already owned & licensed by the musicians/personnel who wrote them.
@@dxp5393,
If the only problem w NM was short entrances, it would be fine. I could deal with that for a good game. But NM is way too slow!

Ah yes the low / mid card nWo diddly music. How can we forget?
This is incredible
Never understood why they didn’t have entrance music anyway
Probably issues with memory size, the N64 cartridges could only hold so much

This game was developed in 97-98. Just having a roster this big in a game was cutting edge for the time. A huge step forward from WCW/NWO World Tour.
Why am i just seeing this now, this is awesome. This would have made this game even more amazing
