" ...I decided to not become part of his mission...." (heavy breathing) -- that was good! LOL! While I should consciously practice intentional mindfulness meditation as a discipline in everyday life it's so much easier when I'm there with the green and soil and water. Especially on my casual hikes.
It was a delight meeting you at the HEB by accident yesterday. It must be an odd feeling to be a celebrity and your fans call you out at the grocery store ;-) Keep up the good work. John
Hi John. Oh ye, it was great to meet you too yesterday. I'm smiling, since I haven't gotten use to strangers coming up to me, say, "I know you from TH-cam." I'm sure we'll meet again ... maybe next time in the forest. There are some awesome areas...but this time of year they need to be where it is possible to swim and cool off ...preferably without alligators. Take care, Ken
Be a son of this instant: It is a messenger of God And the best of messengers Is one who announces your indigence, Your nothingness. Be a son of this instant, Thanking God For a mouthful of ashes. - Ibn Abbad of Ronda
great video. very true. even in the purest desert if I'm alone and still and silent, life comes from everywhere. it can work with others if they agree to be very quiet as well but few can do it, myself included if I have company. I think you can truly connect with the Creator through creation this way but it's not possible to discuss, really.
Thanks for watching Martin and taking time to comment. Often I also bring a pocket Bible and incorporate readings and prayer into quiet time in nature. I'm filled with wonder and awe whenever I am outdoors. For me, mindfullness and connecting with God are both useful and not mutually exclusive. ...ken
Wow! You hang off cliffs, hike with bears, swim with gators, dare ticks to bite ya' again, what's next? I hope you're not planning a trip to the beach anytime soon! I kinda like ya'--- don't want to see you playing with sharks!!!!
So am I Sandy. Always be mindful in nature. Have a good weekend my friend. The more I see and hear "world politics" the more I crave to be outdoors and learn from the wisdom of nature. ....ken
hello ken..I noticed bear did not come along on this trip. Did he get in trouble and have to stay home?... looks like there's another book I need to order and read. I enjoyed the awake in the wild book that you sent me..... yes I finally finished reading it. :-) that alligator looked a little bit on the hungry side. I'm glad you got out of the water. Another informative video ....I really enjoyed watching it.
Hi Bob. Bear was taking a nap and I didn't want to wake him. He keeps dreaming about the meet up. I've been attempting to cut my pack weight and finally got it down to 11 pounds fully loaded. Yea! This pack can work for multi-day camping; but there is not enough to room for bear. All items are multi-purpose; and bear is only a pillow. My new pillow is a rain poncho covered by extra underwear and socks. (shucks... no fun ??? stay tuned; maybe a different multi-purpose bear will show up in my pack).... Very soon I'll go camping with this system and do a "what's in my current pack" video. ...NEW ITEMS; Stay tuned for the bear essentials video....
This is peaceful Ken. When I camp,I do the same thing you are doing. 550 cord, sleeping bag/woobie, and a mosquito net. I was required to attend a month long ptsd therapy session. A lot of the therapy included Chinese art and medicine. Tai Chi,meditation, spiritual, reiki, and counseling. Ken, if you've never tried Reiki, you should. It is very interesting and I was very skeptical at first, but it works. Thanks for sharing your videos brother and may you live in peace.
Mindfulness really does apply to the outdoors. I'm glad you reminded us of that. Good advice from your friend, Bob, too. I'm glad you weren't an alligator repast lol. Chomp! No more vids from Mr. Kramm...
im so glad you are enjoying your hammock ken, pull those prusic knots to hold the net better . i think leaving the water was a good mindful idea , and being aware .. I'm going try some meditation in nature, my body needs it , thanks for a inspiring video ken. ..bill
Will Do Billy Joe. The prussic knots became loose, because of the stretch in the wraps that held everything to the trees. It stretched so much that the entire hammock system fell to the ground (not filmed). My next trip to the forest (maybe next week), will be an overnighter with my 11 pound pack AND astronger tree straps. Everything should stay tight. I'm still learning. In any case, I'm looking forward to the relaxation AND especially carrying only 11 pounds on my back. Water will be from the lake and no cameras, other than my phone. Rain is in the forecast; but that should not be a problem, unless the lake /roads flood.... There are many snakes in the area where I plan to camp, so I will be mindful.
I'm not feeling well today and watching this video took my mind off of that a little. Glad you got to see the gator. Sorry he kicked you out of the pool though. Take care Ken.
I'm mindful of dangers with any body of water here in FL. That recent tragedy at the Disney resort indicates how gators can ambush people at any time. Do your fans a favor and stick to the land unless you are in a watercraft. Thanks.
Hi Campfire Steve. I'll be careful when gators are in the area. I had an inflatable boat for a while, but go rid of it .... Too easy for gators or sticks to cause leaks. ... Peace, ken
I like gators too. The little ones are cute. And the big ones are critically important as "key species" in ecosystems...keeping channels open. Hopefully no one is feeding the gators on Lake Conroe. This area has many swimmers..... Take care my friend and be safe. ...kne
Wow you are a male version of myself. I have a few of John K Zinn's books , love stealth camping, hammock camping. What an unusual thing. Thanks for your videos.
😂😂😂😰lol they will come if interested . Be cool with your surroundings and they will surely come. Mosquitoes, ants, nats. Horsefly s , ticks , chiggers , and now alligators . Your breathing seemed to be a little hard. 😌
Mr. Kramm, You and your videos have been an inspiration to me for quite some time. As coincidence would have it I recently began reading a book on mindfulness as well. Being from Florida, I'm very glad you did not become part of the Alligators mission. Please be careful out there and thank you for making your videos.
lovely video ken, I have always been a advocate of mindfulness in nature, though I knew it by different names in the past, in the present it goes hand in hand with the eco-therapy I do that is helping me recovery from serious spinal and other health issues due to illness but nature has been the light at the end of the tunnel, thank you for your videos, cheers craig
hi ken . I think that just been in woodland mindful . hereing what it gives you . what I mean when I'm at work . they is people . phone s . car's . when I go out . there is nothing it's living a different way :-) . sounds flooding you . thanks for sharing . ATB . Andy
Thanks Opal. You will enjoy the approach. The hardest part it to keep you mind focused on the present rather than worrying about the past, or imagining the future. Take care, my friend. ...ken
Good video. It reminds me of why I deer hunt. I love going to my spot and just sitting for hours. After a while my mind just goes blank and I forget about all my little worries. It seems that I can hear better and smell the forest and I notice all the animals and birds. Most of my hunts end without kills, unless I see a really nice deer. The experience of just being with nature is wonderful.
The hammock was custom made for me by my friend, Bill in the Hills (Billy Joe Denny). Check out his channel. He's a great guy with an awesome channel. ....ken
Ken, You might not think about it . But I worry about you especially at night without any protection. You should always carry that spear you made with you when out by yourself. The wild hogs in Texas are said to be the most likely to attack a person. Plus you don't know what other animal might attack you. I don't know if you heard about this . But last week a woman and dog were stalked by a wolf for 12 hours . And she tried to get back to her car and could not. She said it was if the wolf knew to keep her away from the car. After 12 hours and with out food or water . She came across a bear cub . She knew that the mother bear was close by if the cub was there. And she made the choice to go toward the cub or to keep trying to get away from the wolf . The cub saved her because the mother saw the wolf and went for the wolf instead of her. I know you know the outdoors . But it is always wise to take some kind of protection with you. I'm not being paranoid I just feel it's better to have some protection and not need it . Then to need it and not have it . Yeah ! you could pick up a rock or a stick and use that . And if you don't believe in guns that's fine . But it would be a good idea to get one and carry it with you or at least that spear . I carry a gun every time I go into the woods by myself or with others . And yes most wildlife will run when they see you . But there's always that one that doesn't . Be safe so you can keep making these great videos.
Thanks for your concern. Sling shot; light weight and effective. Soon I will upload a what's in my pack video with my new, light-weight; 11pound, fully loaded pack. . Stay tuned for discussion on protection...
When you entered the water I did wonder about the possibility of alligators being around. I got the impression your heart rate went up somewhat when you spotted one! Stay safe Ken. Noel
Oh yes Noel. The excitement was fun (after I got back to shore). This area is heavily used by swimmers and their pets. Hope the no-one feeds the alligators. ...ken
hi Ken, great day! ive enjoyed all your videos so far and this one is the best! by the way ive made my bedsheet hammock and am looking forward to using it this summer. thx for the great vids
Good; instructive as usual. Nothing like an alligator to mess with a zen moment. But they do know how to help focus the mind on the present moment! Mindfulness; gator gets it! Lol
Um, I was about to ask about those. It's best not to temp them. They aint real picky about what they put the chomp on and they seem to be putting a lot more chomps on people that aren't smart enough to stay out of reach.
Thank you Ken for this wonderful relaxing video!
Thanks Annemieke. Have a wonderful weekend my friend. ...ken

A walk in the outdoors has always been theraputic, and when I can't get outdoors I just watch one of your videos.
Enjoy the moment Bruce .... even if it is only a glance out the window. The outdoors is wonderful, as "always therapeutic" as you say. Take care, Ken

Most wild alligators are ok; but if they associate people with food, it can be dangerous. Never feed the alligators...Take care, Ken
Especially never feed them you. Take care and may God bless and keep you and yours & the gators safe.
NICE VIDEO THANKS FRIEND
You're welcome kenneth. ...ken
Looks like you missed the chance to become one with that alligator Ken
oh yes! in this case, I'll give the gator its space ....ken
having fished on Lake Conroe. I can attest to the benefit of being "mindful" of the gators.
so true!
