My painting teacher told us to try to recreate a masterpiece for practice. I chose the picture of the angel Uriel byDaVinci, found in the painting of Virgin on the rock. The picture is seen on the book jacket here, and at 4:33. It is an absolutely stunning painting by DaVinci, truly angelic. My problem was finding a decent representation online. Wish me luck.
Grest video as always, very atmospheric. I look forward to more of these Art Book reviews. _______________________________ May 1st is on my calendar - )
Thank you, Shyam! I have wanted to make a website for a while now! It has been fun building it and it will serve as a personal "creative platform" ... :-)
Pricing aside, how does this compare to Folio Society's "The Notebooks of Leonardo Da Vinci"? I realise that's a new release, so if you haven't had the opportunity to see it in person, do you plan to in the future?
I don't think one could make a fair comparison between the two since this book covers the paintings of da Vinci, and the Folio Society edition covers his notebooks (and none of his paintings, only sketches and drawings). With anything that has to do with art, Taschen will always be my preferred publisher. There's an upcoming edition from Taschen that covers Leonardo da Vinci's paintings AND drawings, which might be a better comparison. But I'd personally go with Taschen either way. Larger size, lower price! :-)

Thank you for watching! ❦
that actually looks really nice. Most Art books I have are on Ukiyo-e.. guess it's time to delve into the great western artists
