I'm 70 now, and pretty sure I fished this lake last August. It's been almost 10 years since my last Ontario, Canada trip. Of course it did not disapoint. Loved the starry nights.
You two have done the first thing right taking this endevor on at a young age. My husband and I started 25 years late. One getting Married after us both having two failed marriage. Known each other as friends over the years , realized we were reading out the same book just needed to read it together. Life too short lost him to cancer on my own now trying to finish the dream.
Capt. Lee: Good to hear from you again. I wish I was 20 years younger because I would be up there within a week to offer my services for only food, some fishing and somewhere to sleep. Besides fishing I am quite the construction guru. Great video.
Couldn't agree more were bouts is this place in Canada ? Shoot fire that's all I've done my whole life construction , remodel ,build new neighborhoods ,& insurance restoration so nothing to do with a home haven't had my hands at one time or another an got a awsome wife I've had by my side for past 36 yrs but now at 56 all broken down with ailments galore sucks getting old & broken up lol best of luck to you's guys gonna deff have to check youins out just stumbled across your page
Wow, what a great location! I owned a lodge up through the 2000s until land just got so expensive that the ground was worth way more than the lodge. I'm sure you're not looking for advice, but convert as much space as you can for bedrooms and then have a shared space for cooking etc, that way you can provide for more than one group in each building. Big spaces and unused buildings are your enemy. You won't need a guide house or an ice house. Convert them in to lodging for visitors, same goes for the big two story building on the main floor. Don't heat with pex, stick to wood burners and maybe put up some ceiling fans to circulate heat. If you get busy enough, consider a camping area for tents. One more thing, keep doing what you're doing on social sites. They will be a HUGE advertising bonus. People will travel just to meet you. Happy for you both, you'll have your hands full for a long time but you seem to have a lot of energy. Best wishes and good luck!
Sorry to be long winded, but you've bought the perfect boat and motor size. Consider used right now. Down here in Minnesota boats with good motors like that are going really, really cheap (half as much as three or four years ago) because lots of fishermen are going with Kayaks. Boat rentals are BIG moneymakers.
Thanks! The big building is being winterized for ice fishing, this is a very remote area. Air access only so the people who are coming are being flown in. No camping areas as everyone will be housed in the cabins or lodge.
The main building is gorgeous. Would be nice to eventually have some type of entertainment in main building, maybe a pool table, place to play cards, lots of photos, etc. I like how you are refinishing the top floor. Lots of work for sure.
Tons of work, definitely will be some couches moved into the lower floor and beds removed, focus is upstairs for now but will be more into that side down the road

WooHoo! Lucky you! Amazing life you have chosen. Bakers Lake Lodge is a legend. 50 years ago I was involved in the construction and operation of two lodges in Northern Manitoba. Back in the day Bakers Lodge was extremely popular so nice to see it being brought back to it's Lake Trout fishing legendary status. As I mentioned lucky you. What a life!

Love what you are doing to this camp! These are the kinds of places i love to fish . Keep us updated ! You may even have me as a guest someday ! Great job you two 👍
I just found your channel! I subscribed even before watching. We live in Texas but we made 6 trips to Flin Flon to fish. We drove. Canada is beautiful. We flew over to a small lake in Saskatchewan. There were two cabins on it but I never saw the other cabin. They said it had an ice house. Our dry cabin was one room no electricity. Refrig was propane as was the lights. Had 3 sets of bunks and a table & 6 chairs, an out house I avoided at all cost, 4 boats and 6 motors. Each time I thought it was the best 4 days I’d ever lived and never wanted to leave. That island was covered in wild roses with only paths to outhouse and boat dock. There was a portage at each end and we’d fish mainly where the water came in for walleye. We caught one nearly every cast. We kept only what we’d eat. First trip we took tons of food. Next five trips we took breakfast food, potatoes & onions and ate walleye every meal. We didn’t see a sole from drop off until pickup. We always wanted to take our grandsons….never did. Oh how I wish we could come to your beautiful camp! I guess I’ll live vicariously thru your videos.

Where I work we own a bunch of kohler gen sets. A huge portion of our problems were mice nesting materials, chewed wires etc. Your gen looks older than what we use but maybe set up similar. On the end of the generator part there’s a cover with an optical eye sensor, they can build nests. There’s also a flywheel sensor that gets messed up if they get into the flywheel area. I found mouse proofing eliminated about 90% of my problems. Good luck

Absolutely beautiful. 👊 It’s always been a huge dream of mine to own/run a lodge up there in the very remote North. I have 😢done several flying trips throughout northern Ontario and I absolutely love the extreme North Country. One trip was on a river system about 30 minutes north of Ogoke Lake and this outfitter somehow got the OK To build a couple small cabins on a reservation where no white people have been before except for the explorer back in the 30s who mapped the area, man what an honor that was and it was the most incredible fishing I had ever experienced, 20 to 30 walleyes was almost a slow day for a 3 hour morning per guy and the majority of the walleyes were 15 to 20 inches and plenty of 20 to 25 inch and I had 2 that were 29 inch monsters. The northern pike averaged nearly 25 inches with many 35 to over 40 inch fish, I had 12 pike that were 45 inches plus with a 48 inch’r that was my biggest for that trip, also that lake and river system was full of sturgeon where we accidentally caught/foul hooked several while fishing for walleye’s with our jig and grub. But I also had a chance in 1996 to run a lodge in Alaska because of my extensive fishing experience and mechanical background which is a must at these lodges, But I had to turn it down because my x-wife had just got pregnant with the first of my 3 amazing kids.
Wowzers what a gem! 💎🏡 🙌🏽 Great work up there getting everything in order……. are they sending people up to fish now or in a little bit after some more upkeep…..🤔 Take care!
Thanks! Yes there are some groups coming in who were booked with the previous owners still. And a few spots available still for later in the season I believe
You have such great plans for your lodge, but get fishermen coming as fast as you can , they will put up with some discomfort as long as they get good food and good fishing, and keep making improvements as things go along. I see great potential, don’t get discouraged there will be obstacles but you two seem very capable and I wish you tons of success.
Not true at all , we’ve re caught some fish over 4 times that we know of. Can tell by distinguishing markings on them. So much that we even name some of the fish
Location is Northern Manitoba, 100 miles north of Flin Flon. If you get yourself Bakers Narrows Lodge the float base to catch the flight up is right next door pretty much. For any rates and bookings you'll have to check out the lodge website or give them a call!
I just have the original mavic mini, it does the job. Survived two crashes in the lake, down two batteries from it but dried it out both times and it keeps working

Great place congratulations is this place something you purchase or does the CROWN OWN EVERYTHING in Canada?
There are places that are deeded land and places that are crown lease. This one is deeded bought by Bakers Narrows Lodge
Absolutely beautiful. 👊
It’s always been a huge dream of mine to own/run a lodge up there in the very remote North.
Sounds like a nice place!
Wowzers what a gem! 💎🏡 🙌🏽
Great work up there getting everything in order…….
are they sending people up to fish now or in a little bit after some more upkeep…..🤔
Take care!
Thank you!
Great fish, you guys should start tagging the largest
I wish we were allowed that would be super cool
So fishing & hunting camp or just fishing. What kinds of fish in the lake ?
Fishing camp, lake trout, northern pike, walleye, burbot, and whitefish are in the lakes
Lovely lake and area! Is it true most catch and release die? That’s what I’ve heard.
Not true at all , we’ve re caught some fish over 4 times that we know of. Can tell by distinguishing markings on them. So much that we even name some of the fish
Looking good!! How's about location, logistics and rates?
Location is Northern Manitoba, 100 miles north of Flin Flon. If you get yourself Bakers Narrows Lodge the float base to catch the flight up is right next door pretty much. For any rates and bookings you'll have to check out the lodge website or give them a call!
I was super curious too. After flying around the lake in my Google Earth satellite I found it at 56°14'07"N 102°01'36"W.
What kind of hunting will be available?
Possibly bear hunting
The ice hut works if your put wood shavings on top and bottom of the ice.
It’s insulated with foam and wood shavings in the walls and all around
What type of drone did you use for those awesome overhead shots? Also have a link to this lodge?
I just have the original mavic mini, it does the job. Survived two crashes in the lake, down two batteries from it but dried it out both times and it keeps working
Www.bakersnarrowslodge.com should be listed as kamuchwie lake camp
@@darylgilbertoutdoors Thanks Much!
No problem!
What was the turbine aircraft at the start of this video? I worked near Dryden 30 yrs ago. Where are you relative to there?
The red plane is a Cessna 185 with a turbine, only one in the world. Not from the Dryden area from southern Ontario originally
Check the speed sensor on the generator, might need a magnetic pickup.
We did, the speed sensor tests bad and the circuit board
How do schedule a visit next year?
Give bakers narrows lodge a call www.bakersnarrowslodge.com
