i think f1 is technologically ahead of nuclear power stations. they've been around since the 60's. the reaction process of both types of nuclear power production hasn't changed for a lot of years. yet, if you compare f1 today to 15 years ago, there's a big big difference.
I see a couple of things F1 can do without in this video. Gigantic, costly wind tunnels (just use a common one for an agreed amount of time) and 'mission control' rooms. I'm not for everything that Eccelstone says but I agree with him when he says teams should not be allowed to spend a certain amount of money a season to be competitive. Let them go nuts on marketing, advertising, hospitality and give more wriggle room for engine development though.
lol who are these delusional people saying f1 technology is the most advanced thing in the world...even if you dont count the large hadron collider at cern, theres much more technologically advanced and difficult projects all around the world at the edge of quantum physics...
If you did some research maybe you would come to a conclusion that formula one is at space grade technology, teams alone wouldn't be spending over $500,000,000 (in a year) on development if it wasn't on some of the most advanced systems in the world, I wouldn't say it is more advanced than what you are suggesting but without a question it is on the same level...
+MineWoodOfficial I mean F1 is advanced and they spend a lot of money. But to be fair I think Crashing particles together at the speed of light and doing it right so that the world doesn't explode is perhaps a little more advanced than F1.
We have to go back and consider what you mean by "advanced technology", if you use the term simply to suggest complexity and the number of PhD scientists needed to run it, then yes the Large Hardon Collider is more advanced. But the term is meant to signify technology that is just being invented and that is still going through testing. In that sense F1 can be seen as more advanced because new tech is being tested all the time and while the LHC is still making new discoveries its not necessarily testing new technologies (because if you shove an unproven piece of tech in there the whole thing might explode). But in any case NASA, ESA, Tesla, and Google probably have a lot more technological advancements occurring.
with that music it looks like Dr´s No secret base in James Bond movies
The technology in F1 is CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!! So much technology going on behind closed doors it's unbelievable!

I love the James Bond music in the beginning. Is that from Moonraker?
Nah it's from You only live twice.
they are mclaren-mercedes after all
what documentary is this from? I'd like to see the whole feature it's part of...
It'll be BBC segment from a race weekend, as they're talking about Korea it'll be from 2010, as they said the tarmac was just laid and it's new track.
Cool find F1Auston
True and now he told us It's pissing me off lol.
This scene right here shows exactly why F1 costs so much.

Well spotted there, no one else has ever noticed this.
Houston this is mission control, we have go for launch :D
I thought it was from You Only Live Twice?
I had no idea it took this much technology to turn an exciting sport like auto racing, into a g'damn borefest
this is fantasy baseball coming true, fantasy to the extreme, actually directing f1 races
Which James Bond score is playing?
anyone know the song at 3:21 ?
It's john barry's music from one of the james bond movies..Cant figure out which one..Any one??
@jockejocke1 you only live twice my friend
@futurealasd that and space programmes
Why does the start repeat itself and the sound is out of sync.
Thank god you said because i would never guess...
fit blonde in mission control, wouldn't mind working with her, lol
There is an absolutely FILTHY amount of money in Formula 1.
Sound is OUT OF ALIGNMENT to the IMAGING.
Sarcasm. I like.
Sound is out of sync with the picture.
The "average" nut is about 10p, i'm not sure its very cost effective to spend £100 on A nut.
So is this where McLaren analyzed their stolen Ferrari data?
Coulthard- spying for RBR :L
faces of rich people
He goes to McLaren HQ with a mercedes car ?
McLaren-Mercedes. That’s still their constructors’ name today.
it's all nice and beautiful but what's the point when they cant change the fucking tyres
they should just make the driver drive from england instead of flying him out to the race
there is nothing technological out there that can beat f1's techonology.....really nothing
only 1 thing i can think of are nuclear stations
NASCAR
hahahahaha exaclty my thoughts
Dirty old racing cars pfft
l-o-l
badly !!
Sounds like the usual British waffle in business again. Can't do a simple pitstop and favour rubbish drivers who eventually leave to go elsewhere.

+dkong13able typical nerd comment trying to impress with his knowledge about technology.
+Bastian Mann typical proletariat comment showing his parents are brother and sister.
