I used both speakers side by side, no doubt the charge 5 sounds amazing for its size. But, the xtreme 3 had a little more detail thanks to it being stereo. I could hear instruments that I couldn’t hear on the charge 5. For the price, I would go charge 5 unless if you can get an xtreme 3 under $250. I got my xtreme 3 for $200 from someone who got it as a gift 😎

@@collinsnicky1202 if you have earphones or a single speaker and you are playing stereo which is 2.1 on the phone you lose a channel if you make it mono its gonna be 1.1 so if you got the left ear in you will not get the sounds only the right has at work i always use mono sound with my airpods or speaker get 2 for proper stereo

While I was shopping for a portable Bluetooth, I tried both the jbl xtreme 3 and charge 5 they had on display at target. To me both speakers sounded the same and wasn't much of a big difference in highs and bass. I bought the charge 5 and never regretted. I like the charge 5 better because it's a lot more easier to carry and to me the sound from it is amazing.

I walked into a Verizon store and, while waiting for assistance, I just started browsing around since I don't normally visit that often. Kind of subconsciously, I thought they were playing nice music in the store. I kept browsing until... I came across the Charge 5 just sitting there playing the music! Now, that was incredible because I litterly thought that it was coming from overhead (like speakers on the ceiling throughout the store)! Nope, just the Charge 5 sitting there chilling on the counter! I couldn't believe how good it sounded and I know my Charge 3 or Flip 4 have never sounded that good! Such a rich, clear sound that fills up the air. Truly amazing! And to think there are videos on TH-cam that say there are better ones out there in it's category. If that's the case, those speakers must be really d**n good!
There’s a difference, xtreme got deeper bass and more soundstage, I choose it because that and also being stereo, aux input, double charge output, own charger and all connectors protected under the lid
Adding the tweeter on the Charge 5 did wonders for it. I always though the Charge 4 sounded amazing, but the Charge 5 just beats it hands-down with that tweeter.

Yeah the xtreme 3 and me got some beef I just feel like it’s over priced. We are going to put it vs the xtreme 2 and see if it’s worth buying the 3 at all. Don’t get me wrong it’s a good speaker it the price that bugs me for the average person save up money to get a speaker and what they get out of it.

I personally prefer the bigger and best, but with you saying "they sound the same" and "ones just louder, and not by much" ...kinda think having 2+ would be more versatile and most likely be louder than just a single extreme. Besides, throwing one at each end of the pool or over both sides of the boat seems more fun :)

The extrem3 still plays deeper in the bass definitely on heavy bass tracks by about 10 Hertz and it's stereo unlike the charge 5 and we know it's a bit louder they're both playing at 40 Watts on battery so it's going to be close extreme 3 has 50 Watts plugged in and then maybe equalizer app for the Extreme 3 soon carry strap and bottle opener $150 difference yes maybe but they're both still too expensive good video bro thank you
If you are female and you don't wanna lift so much weight (~900g). Charge5 is nice for you - buy the silicon case to mount a carry around strap on it. Take a look at the tear down, it is actually 10W high frq tweeter and a mid+low range driver 30W RMS ---- Extreme 3 has 2x 25w for tweeter and 2x for mid + low range driver 2x 25W RMS. Extreme 3 got more weight - Around ~2000g so this more a product for men. But if you buy 2x Charge 5 you can create a bigger dance floor and you have still some space in your bag.

I'm about to make my decision between these two this upcoming weekend. I've chosen one over the other many times in my head, but every time I watch TH-cam reviews, website reviews, and sound tests, my opinion changes. I'm gonna let you be the one to choose what's for me. I very much agree on your statement + what we can hear through TH-cam about the sound quality of both speakers. I really want the loudness that comes from the xtreme, but at the same time I feel like the sound quality is much better on the charge (but it lacks the loudness and bass, even if it isn't far off). I'm not really open to any other speaker atm, only these two. Money isn't an issue, but I just want to make a wise choice between the two. To consider size, loudness, and clarity, what is your opinion and decision for me?
If money is not a issue and you want the loudness and better bass I would go xtreme 3 easy. Charge 5 is smaller way easier to carry around and take places. Like you said the clarity in the highs are way better as well. For the charge 5 I will say the only reason you would choose this over the xtreme since money is not a problem for you and you want the louder speaker. Will be the size it’s way more portable just toss it in a bag and go without taking up a lot of space. Yes the xtreme comes with a strap but it’s annoying to carry around at times haha
@@klausdauer I bought the Xtreme 3. When I first got it, I was impressed by the clarity, treble, and HIGH bass. After a few months, I bought the hyperboom. Obviously, I wouldn’t compare these two speakers but from listening to the hyper boom, I noticed what the xtreme 3 was missing. - low bass, like I mean, some edm songs lose a lot because this thing completely stops pushing out bass until it goes back to high bass. - not as clear as my hyperboom, but it’s clear and you’ll get used to the clarity over time. In my opinion, I would go for a higher end speaker. If its for portability, Charge and xtreme work fine. I would assume from all these reviews about how close these sound, I’d say the charge is probably a safer option cause you don’t get that much from the xtreme 3 in my opinion.

Thank you I appreciate it. If you can get the Xtreme 3 in the $200-260 I would do that. But two charge 5s linked together on both ends of the room not going to lie that would be great. You can take one throw it in the bag and be more portable. I would do the 2 charges if you couldn’t get a Xtreme 3 in that price range I said.
I just bought the Charge 5 for beach trips and working in my garage. I like it so far! Also works well with my tv as a soundbar so may try another model later to compare. All these devices are getting so good.

I have 2 jbl flip 6 and listen to them in stereo mode, but now I need more bass and have decided to buy a new speaker and use it in partyboost beside my 2 flip 6 for outdoor use. The best thing you can do is by 2 JBL Charge fives and pair dem together. Then you get perfect stereo sound. It's playing better and bigger than you think. It's perfect when you listen to musick or watching Netflix in your bed. Have one each side of your head. When you have 2 JBL Charge fives you not nessesary need a suround system after my upinium. I have 2 blue JBL Charge Fives. I big speakers and subwoofer. But it JBL Charge fives i use the most...
I like to hear a pair of jbl charge 5's in stereo mode vs JBL extreme 3, that's all most the same cost, but you can space the 5's farther apart for better sound separation.
If you want the best portable speaker to carry around and have quality sound go with the Charge 5. I tested the flip 5 and the Ultimate Ears megaboom. The Charge 5 beats them hands down so I then bought the Charge 5. The Xtreme will have a bit more bass. Now if you want the best sound with the best bass get the Ultimate Ears Hyperboom. I have it. It is the best sounding speaker for the price imo perriod. But is a bit heavy to carry.

@@MoNeYMlKE420 the X3 is great at lower volume a lot of people think it sounds better around 70% from comments I seen on other videos. but you will still get good clarity even half way if you don't want your speaker on max. no has clear as the C5 because the clarity is crazy good on that but still good.
The best thing to do in my opinion is to buy qty-2 of the Charge 5’s because you can link them of course. Two speakers set a distance apart will be much more immersive feeling surrounded by sound. Bought two of them earlier today at $139 each at Target.
Hi everyone, I have 2 jbls flip 5 speakers. Love how they sound on stereo mode but I want to upgrade to something even better. Would you recommend selling them to get the xtreme 3? I went to a store and listened to charge 5 and it didn't convinced me, I felt my two speakers were louder. What would you guys recommend? I want something louder with a clear sound and more bass
I primed both so I could decide and I did what he did and found it very hard to tell the difference. The charge 5 sounded clearer and felt like it got louder but it might have been the better highs. Using the eq to give more bass to the charge and more mids and highs to the extreme had them nearly identical

It would be would be louder of course. Would be nice to have around the house playing in different areas and rooms. If your going to be more portable and want a louder speaker X3. But you can just take one charge 5 on the go. So yeah two is not bad
I just picked up a marshall emberton and honestly i find it a bit underwhelming. I was expecting a stronger bass and the mids are overwhelming. So my next speaker is probably going to be a charge 5

when you're in certain environments the extreme actually sounds muchh deeper. But for the price you can't go wrong with the charge

My co worker has the charge 5 and I got the extreme. Compared it in the kitchen we work at. the sound from the extreme carries quite a bit farther

I'm not really open to any other speaker atm, only these two. Money isn't an issue, but I just want to make a wise choice between the two.
To consider size, loudness, and clarity, what is your opinion and decision for me?
If money is not a issue and you want the loudness and better bass I would go xtreme 3 easy.
Charge 5 is smaller way easier to carry around and take places. Like you said the clarity in the highs are way better as well.
For the charge 5 I will say the only reason you would choose this over the xtreme since money is not a problem for you and you want the louder speaker. Will be the size it’s way more portable just toss it in a bag and go without taking up a lot of space. Yes the xtreme comes with a strap but it’s annoying to carry around at times haha

@@klausdauer I bought the Xtreme 3. When I first got it, I was impressed by the clarity, treble, and HIGH bass. After a few months, I bought the hyperboom. Obviously, I wouldn’t compare these two speakers but from listening to the hyper boom, I noticed what the xtreme 3 was missing.
- low bass, like I mean, some edm songs lose a lot because this thing completely stops pushing out bass until it goes back to high bass.
- not as clear as my hyperboom, but it’s clear and you’ll get used to the clarity over time.
In my opinion, I would go for a higher end speaker. If its for portability, Charge and xtreme work fine. I would assume from all these reviews about how close these sound, I’d say the charge is probably a safer option cause you don’t get that much from the xtreme 3 in my opinion.

yup that was they only thing and the charge 5 has a bit more clarity but its still basically the same.
if i choose between charge 5 or extreme 3, i will choose charge 5 because of the cheaper price even if its not loud as extreme 3.. btw nice review idol.. last time i got my new jbl charge 4 ,i watch ur review for charge 4 vs charge 3, charge 4 vs sound core motion plus..thats why i decided to buy charge 4 over them😊

Thank you I appreciate it. If you can get the Xtreme 3 in the $200-260 I would do that. But two charge 5s linked together on both ends of the room not going to lie that would be great. You can take one throw it in the bag and be more portable. I would do the 2 charges if you couldn’t get a Xtreme 3 in that price range I said.
The Xtreme 3 definetely has a wider soundstage, which is the only difference along with the volume.

I just bought the Charge 5 for beach trips and working in my garage. I like it so far! Also works well with my tv as a soundbar so may try another model later to compare. All these devices are getting so good.

I've managed to buy 2 Charge 5s for 200 bucks, imo it was an amazing deal.
The best thing you can do is by 2 JBL Charge fives and pair dem together. Then you get perfect stereo sound. It's playing better and bigger than you think. It's perfect when you listen to musick or watching Netflix in your bed. Have one each side of your head. When you have 2 JBL Charge fives you not nessesary need a suround system after my upinium. I have 2 blue JBL Charge Fives. I big speakers and subwoofer. But it JBL Charge fives i use the most...

I like to hear a pair of jbl charge 5's in stereo mode vs JBL extreme 3, that's all most the same cost, but you can space the 5's farther apart for better sound separation.

If you want the best portable speaker to carry around and have quality sound go with the Charge 5. I tested the flip 5 and the Ultimate Ears megaboom. The Charge 5 beats them hands down so I then bought the Charge 5. The Xtreme will have a bit more bass. Now if you want the best sound with the best bass get the Ultimate Ears Hyperboom. I have it. It is the best sounding speaker for the price imo perriod. But is a bit heavy to carry.

@@MoNeYMlKE420 the X3 is great at lower volume a lot of people think it sounds better around 70% from comments I seen on other videos. but you will still get good clarity even half way if you don't want your speaker on max. no has clear as the C5 because the clarity is crazy good on that but still good.

The best thing to do in my opinion is to buy qty-2 of the Charge 5’s because you can link them of course. Two speakers set a distance apart will be much more immersive feeling surrounded by sound. Bought two of them earlier today at $139 each at Target.
Hi everyone, I have 2 jbls flip 5 speakers. Love how they sound on stereo mode but I want to upgrade to something even better. Would you recommend selling them to get the xtreme 3? You should experience yorself the xtreme 3. Spoiler it's better.
I primed both so I could decide and I did what he did and found it very hard to tell the difference. The charge 5 sounded clearer and felt like it got louder but it might have been the better highs.
Using the eq to give more bass to the charge and more mids and highs to the extreme had them nearly identical

I just picked up a marshall emberton and honestly i find it a bit underwhelming. I was expecting a stronger bass and the mids are overwhelming. So my next speaker is probably going to be a charge 5
