Darrel, I love your teaching style. I'm not finished with this tutorial yet, but had to tell you how excellent it is. I have 2 sites that need to go up yesterday. I retired and previously taught myself Drupal 7 and moved our corporate website from a static site to Drupal. I didn't want to create my personal sites in Drupal and figured WordPress would be so easy, but I just haven't been able to figure it out. This tutorial has given me many "aha" moments! Thank you so much!
i watched this video in its entirety over the course of 5 days... building my blog from scratch along with the video just to find out at the end of the video i could of paid for an entire website and even still i would do it all over again FROM SCRATCH so happy i stuck through it and learned all i could learn this was a great vid and it helped me create my entire website thank you!!!
I am not sure what I can say that someone else has not already said. This is the best Divi tutorial that I have found that has so much information in one place. Your list of timestamps is great and very useful and will be used by me many times over. I have found working with Divi more challenging than I expected. My hats off to those that started with the earlier versions. I do realize that Divi 4.0 has so much more functionality. I have put off using it from time to time because of the difficulty factor and it was only recently that I started to gain traction. I accidentally bumped across this video and immediately clicked with your presentation method and what was being presented. For some reason, I began to see a light at the end of the tunnel. I can see that this video and I are going to be good friends for a long time. I can also see where your freebies are going to be very useful as well. At some point, I hope to thank you and do it by buying something from you that I can use.

Thanks for posting these tutorials, they're great. Had DIVI for a couple years and have used these to gain a great foundation on learning it. It really is an amazing design tool. In college in the 1960s (we had more fun that you did later), the beers were fairly boring. The first craft/imported beer that I liked was Mackesson stout. It wasn't bitter like the other stouts. It's tough to find, but I think it's still around. Now I'll have to hunt for it.

Would be a good idea to install a site offline plugin (coming soon plugin) and activate it first. For people new to web design this is a page that will display on your site with some text telling users that your site is (Example: Coming soon, Currently in development etc.) this means no one will see you working on the site until you have it completed. When you have your site developed then you can de-activate the offline plugin (coming soon plugin) and your sites visitors will then see your brand new shiny website. All the best from a very wet Ireland.

Hi bro, I used divi and I've seen people talking that elementor is years ahead of Divi? I personally liked divi and didn't like the blog and wcoomerce options but it's still good. Should I stick with divi or change to elem?
At 1:10:38 you guys can make an overlay with background color without photoshop or using gradient background, just change the background image blend mode to multiply (just scroll down and you will fond it), after it choose the color that you want at background color and change the opacity as you want, that's all!

The official Divi Themes tutorials are awful. You should replace them because I watched the whole video and was interested the entire time. Thank you for the comprehensive tutorial!
Hi Darrel, You are amazing! Your tutorials and walkthroughs are absolutely the most detailed that I came across when setting up my business website in February. While I did opt to purchase a Divi theme, my Business site has yet to launch. Unfortunately I opted for managed WP hosting through a different host provider. Definite mistake as there have been nothing but issues from the start, even when using their "easy" setup feature to get started. I have corresponded with support services for the provider however nothing was helpful and I refuse to pay the company any additional money for a developer to assist. Do you offer quotes to assist with site corrections?
Divi is great because it’s highly customizable. But, eacht time I finished a Divi website it’s running heavy and slow. Each page and even the WordPress dashboard is getting slow as a snail. The plugin WP Rocket stil solves the biggest part of it but it’s a bit weird to force clients to purchase a plugin because his new site is already slow. I just tried the Astra theme with the Elementor and everything is in a ultra light workflow! So different 😄

Thanks so much for this amazing tutorial. I have a bit of a challenge. My Divi sections are not fullwidth even though all the settings (both site and section layout) are fullwidth. Anyone with ideas on how I can fix this? It would be much appreciated

Fantastic video that covers everything, and I'm only 1.5 hours in. At a friend's recommendation I tried Elementor with Pro upgrade (through a cheap group buy). The dashboard is crude in comparison to DIVI, and adjusting spacing wasn't as easy. I couldn't get the text animation to work consistently. It sometimes gave a different animation or only worked in mobile mode. What really was frustrating was adjusting columns, text, and images in responsive mode. Sometimes the section box was hidden, or a lot of padding had to be manually added. The results were different in the final display. I'm going back to DIVI. Some have commented that a DIVI site will be slower to load than one done in Elementor, but Elementor was too frustrating to use. Someone below asked about plugins. The free plugin iThemes Security has a quick setting to secure the site and block brute force tries. I always hide the login page via the "advanced" tab and "Hide Backend". You create a slug such as ghj-908. It makes the login site.com/ghj-908. Anyone trying the standard site.com/wp-admin gets an error message. It will keep the amateurs out.
Quick question, have you ever built a directory-type/listing website? I'm trying to figure out what theme work best for it. I'm considering Divi, but I'm not sure of all its capability. Can you suggest some that you've personally used before? Maybe the ones from ElegantTheme as well (if there's any). Thanks!"

Do you have a video on other optimization tips for woocommerce over Shopify? I know going with Siteground (or any top tier host) is important but what other items might be good for giving that Shopify shop experience (the speed that is) without going with Shopify. I'm loving Divi way too much

This tutorial is the best! However, when I tried to import the layout I do not have the option of portability. I am new to this and I already had Bluehost. Can that be the reason I cannot import the layouts?
Love the video and noticing the interface is different than what I have. So I have had to explore a little but I assume its because there have been updates to Wordpress and Divi. Also right out of the gate the tutorial on how the navigation bar is adjustable didn't work. Nothing I did was able to rearrange the pages. So contacted Wordpress to see what to do. I hope as I finish the tutorial and hear from them I will understand more. I really wish that word press had people that we could call... I am still trying to figure out how to do a zoom meeting with them as I HATE FORUMS. Plus they don't have a "live" chat option 24/7. So building this website it taking days instead of hours. Perhaps by the end of the week my web page will be done? lol

Awesome video! got me hooked on DIVI... One question: What kind of window would I have to use if I wanted to seperate the categories and put the "Girls category" and "unvategorized" category in seperate rows on the main page of the blog? So that it would be easy for visitors to find them?
First, great video! Your teaching style is fantastic! Second, I have an existing WordPress website with Divi 3.19.18 installed. I want to upgrade the site to Divi 4.1 (I have a lifetime license) and do a fairly major design overhaul. However, I don't want these changes to appear to the public as I am making them. I want to take advantage of all of the new features of Divi 4.1 and really redo the entire site (in terms of look and feel). What's the best approach? Should I use a migration plugin like Duplicator to backup the current website, then install WordPress and Divi 4.1 locally and do the development there, then migrate the new site back to my webhost? If so, how? I realize this may be a complex question. My knowledge and skills are intermediate at best, but I am trying to do all of this myself. Thanks in advance for any assistance. You rock!

Would be a good idea to install a site offline plugin (coming soon plugin) and activate it first. For people new to web design this is a page that will display on your site with some text telling users that your site is (Example: Coming soon, Currently in development etc.) this means no one will see you working on the site until you have it completed. When you have your site developed then you can de-activate the offline plugin (coming soon plugin) and your sites visitors will then see your brand new shiny website. All the best from a very wet Ireland.
Hey Darrel, great content as always! I used your TH-cam video a few years ago to create a site for a biz I have since sold. I am back and ready to create one for our new business. I just can't remember if it is easy to change the layout once I follow this video? Basically, how important is it to pick which one of your videos to follow for the look and feel of the site I am looking to create?

Hi bro, I used divi and I've seen people talking that elementor is years ahead of Divi? I personally liked divi and didn't like the blog and wcoomerce options but it's still good. Should I stick with divi or change to elem?

At 1:10:38 you guys can make an overlay with background color without photoshop or using gradient background, just change the background image blend mode to multiply (just scroll down and you will fond it), after it choose the color that you want at background color and change the opacity as you want, that's all!

The official Divi Themes tutorials are awful. You should replace them because I watched the whole video and was interested the entire time. Thank you for the comprehensive tutorial!

You are amazing! Your tutorials and walkthroughs are absolutely the most detailed that I came across when setting up my business website in February. While I did opt to purchase a Divi theme, my Business site has yet to launch. Unfortunately I opted for managed WP hosting through a different host provider. Definite mistake as there have been nothing but issues from the start, even when using their "easy" setup feature to get started. I have corresponded with support services for the provider however nothing was helpful and I refuse to pay the company any additional money for a developer to assist.
Do you offer quotes to assist with site corrections?
Divi is great because it’s highly customizable. But, eacht time I finished a Divi website it’s running heavy and slow. Each page and even the WordPress dashboard is getting slow as a snail. The plugin WP Rocket stil solves the biggest part of it but it’s a bit weird to force clients to purchase a plugin because his new site is already slow. I just tried the Astra theme with the Elementor and everything is in a ultra light workflow! So different 😄

Fantastic video that covers everything, and I'm only 1.5 hours in. At a friend's recommendation I tried Elementor with Pro upgrade (through a cheap group buy). The dashboard is crude in comparison to DIVI, and adjusting spacing wasn't as easy. I couldn't get the text animation to work consistently. It sometimes gave a different animation or only worked in mobile mode. What really was frustrating was adjusting columns, text, and images in responsive mode. Sometimes the section box was hidden, or a lot of padding had to be manually added. The results were different in the final display. I'm going back to DIVI. Some have commented that a DIVI site will be slower to load than one done in Elementor, but Elementor was too frustrating to use.
Someone below asked about plugins. The free plugin iThemes Security has a quick setting to secure the site and block brute force tries. I always hide the login page via the "advanced" tab and "Hide Backend". You create a slug such as ghj-908. It makes the login site.com/ghj-908. Anyone trying the standard site.com/wp-admin gets an error message. It will keep the amateurs out.
Quick question, have you ever built a directory-type/listing website? I'm trying to figure out what theme work best for it. I'm considering Divi, but I'm not sure of all its capability. Can you suggest some that you've personally used before? Maybe the ones from ElegantTheme as well (if there's any). Thanks!"

Do you have a video on other optimization tips for woocommerce over Shopify? I know going with Siteground (or any top tier host) is important but what other items might be good for giving that Shopify shop experience (the speed that is) without going with Shopify. I'm loving Divi way too much

This tutorial is the best! However, when I tried to import the layout I do not have the option of portability. I am new to this and I already had Bluehost. Can that be the reason I cannot import the layouts?

Love the video and noticing the interface is different than what I have. So I have had to explore a little but I assume its because there have been updates to Wordpress and Divi. Also right out of the gate the tutorial on how the navigation bar is adjustable didn't work. Nothing I did was able to rearrange the pages. So contacted Wordpress to see what to do. I hope as I finish the tutorial and hear from them I will understand more. I really wish that word press had people that we could call... I am still trying to figure out how to do a zoom meeting with them as I HATE FORUMS. Plus they don't have a "live" chat option 24/7. So building this website it taking days instead of hours. Perhaps by the end of the week my web page will be done? lol

Second, I have an existing WordPress website with Divi 3.19.18 installed. I want to upgrade the site to Divi 4.1 (I have a lifetime license) and do a fairly major design overhaul. However, I don't want these changes to appear to the public as I am making them. I want to take advantage of all of the new features of Divi 4.1 and really redo the entire site (in terms of look and feel).
What's the best approach? Should I use a migration plugin like Duplicator to backup the current website, then install WordPress and Divi 4.1 locally and do the development there, then migrate the new site back to my webhost? If so, how?
I realize this may be a complex question. My knowledge and skills are intermediate at best, but I am trying to do all of this myself. Thanks in advance for any assistance. You rock!
