Why is there no textual note of some kind at 1st Cor. 13:4--8. The verbs there are indicative verbs, not linking verbs as translated. This passage tells the reader what love does, not what love is. See also Galatians 5:22fff. Granted, translation in to English is difficult. Nonetheless, the meaning of the text should not be lost in translation. The translation and notes about the text should not go unnoticed.
The Church was built around male leadership. Hence, brothers is rightly translated in the LSB as Brethren ἀδελφοὶ Gal. 1:2 or should be translated men or brothers, see Acts 1:16 - In the Greek texts ἄνδρες ἀδελφοί (Acts 1:16 NA28) Also GNT/BYZ and BGT. Believing women will certainly benefit from the epistle or historical data. The women are to keep silent in the churches; for they are not permitted to speak, but are to subject themselves, just as the Law also says. If they desire to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is improper for a woman to speak in church. (1 Cor. 14:34-35 NAU)
I really enjoy listening to these guys, and benefit greatly from their fidelity to the original manuscripts. I’m thoroughly enjoying the LSB and would like to hear more from those involved in the translation work. I’ve watched these discussions and bought an LSB. It’s just so inviting-a “reading” Bible. I find myself hunting for study notes, perhaps a habit I need to monitor and simply read.
Hopefully the LSB will be available in an actual reference Bible with footnotes, cross references and concordance printed on quality paper. With the NASB it’s almost like you can get a reference Bible or good paper but not both. The premium MacArthur SB is great unless you want room to write a note.
12:00 - Acts 1:8 - how's that again??? If the intent is to prioritize authorial intent, how is it a non-trivial improvement to add a feature in the modern English text (capitalization) that was not in the original text? I mean, I know capitalization itself is mainly a later development, but where is this idea of capitalizing "End of the Earth" coming from, since it doesn't come from Luke, or from Isaiah?
The quotation at the end of Romans 3:4. I can't figure out why you changed from the word prevail that the NASB used to the word overcome. To me it seems more ambiguous than prevail. Who is overcome and who is the one who overcomes? I don't understand. Could you explain this in a future discussion please. Thank you.
I really like your attitude of taking textual criticism seriously, and using all 3 critical editions available now for NT (SBLGNT, NA/UBS, and THGNT), and making your own independent decision (based on legitimate principles of textual criticism). I would like to inform you (and everyone reading this), as well, that ECM for Mark has just been out, and they agree with you that "the Son of God" is original. I see that the external evidence is pretty solid as well, after having played around with their CBGM stemmata.
Given your emphasis on concordance where possible (which I'm thankful for), why the lack of clarity in John 20:15ff? If there was ever a passage where two speakers were very selective in their choice of closely related words, this would be it.
The LSB is definitely more accurate than the NASB in all of its editions. LSB has some points of weakness, nevertheless it is closer to the Hebrew and Greek texts than its predecessor.

I am grateful to Yahweh for the blessing of holding an earned PhD degree in Greek and Exegesis, and an earned PhD in Old Testament. Much work remains to be done. Nevertheless, A prime example of the LSB being more interpretive than "literal" is Matthew 1:25. The LSB says, "but he kept her a virgin..." That is not what the Greek text says, but it is a fantastic meaning and interpretation of the phrase, "Kai ouk eginosken auten heos..." (And he knew her not until...) There are some other areas that need improvement, as in all English versions, but the LSB is the best of modern English versions because the translators respect the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek more than the liberal trends in modern society!
MacArthur’s Study Bible suggests that the phrase in 1 Corinthians 14:2 “ For one who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God” is better translated as “ to a god.” why didn’t the LSB fix the translation?
Looking over multiple English translations none of them translate it that way. To be honest to me it seems a bit of MacArthur wanting to strengthen his position that Paul is being sarcastic and or that the Corinthian church isn’t truly using the Gift of Tongues from the Holy Spirit and are just babbling. He and many other cessationists seem to think that tongues is only ever in human languages, but that does not makes sense when there is also the Gift of Interpretation and verses such as are here that say he speaks to God and no one understands unless it is translated through the Gift of Interpretation. Otherwise they would just need someone to speak or understand that particular human language and translate. The focus of tongues is towards God which is clear in acts and here, it is primarily devotional in nature and not used in church (at least disruptively) unless interpreted or in occasions where God wants to use it for a special purpose like in acts where God makes the tongues understandable to the people there. Cessationism too often wants to make the supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit not supernatural and stands on tradition rather than Scripture. Scripture seems clear to me that the gifts will be done away with when the Perfect comes Face to Face, this is clearly speaking of Jesus. There is little to no support of cessation outside of that and yet we have many Scripture verses telling us what the gifts are, are for, and commanding us to seek them and use them for the good of the body of Christ. That’s enough soap boxing for now haha I do enjoy the translation work that is going on even with my worries towards potential biases such as Calvinism, cessationism, and dispensationalism.
@@VexalPhoenix Thank you for your comment! My struggle with the gift of tongue is that I don't see it in scripture as a devotional heavenly language. If it was so, it would have been given to every believer so that they can all communicate with God in this special prayer language. But that's not the case! Why would God give a devotional prayer language to some believers and not to others?

Also forgive me for being a bit lazy and not doing a bunch of Scripture references! I am not Pentecostal, by that I mean the view they can have that all should speak in tongues and that speaking in tongues is a demonstration of being baptized in the Holy Spirit. With that out of the way I am still developing my views on the gifts of the Holy Spirit to be honest, there are many gifts that seem to be available to all believers. Faith is obviously available to all believers but there is also a special gifting of faith. Healing is also something that is called for to be done in all the churches regularly with elders laying hands. Prophecy is another gift I personally believe that everyone theoretically is capable of doing because I believe God speaks to everyone and prophecy is basically sharing a message from God to someone that will encourage them. If you can hear God for yourself in your own relationship and prayers with him then it is not much of a stretch to then share what He says to others, but some people will be more gifted and/or practiced in this area. Do the gifts in accordance with your faith and I believe that as you use them more you will grow in your faith for them. We all also have the Holy Spirit who posses all the gifts and distributes as He pleases so we could use a gift in a circumstance but perhaps not in general. Getting back to Tongues, Paul says he is glad that he uses tongues more than any of them, that he prays with his spirit but also with his mind. He encourages them in Corinth who love the gift of Tongues to speak to themselves and to God if there is no one to interpret either themselves or someone else with the gift of interpretation. Personally speaking I think this practically means praying Tongues in your head or under your breath. A huge part of tongues is personal worship to God as tongues is spoken to God not men. I believe tongues general use is edifying and building up oneself as worship to God then going out in the power of God much in the way prayer works. So why is tongues not given to all believers? Well why are not all the gifts given to all believers? All the gifts are amazing and would greatly enhance one’s ministry and devotional life, but it is the Holy Spirit who chooses how, when, where, and why to distribute the gifts, but we all get at least one and the Bible encourages us to seek and ask for them. If you don’t have a gift there is nothing wrong with sincerely asking God for it with the right heart not to lift yourself up but for the building up of the Body of Christ. We all need each other and I think the differences in gifts plays into that. I don’t know at all if you are a cessationist or what, and I understand that a lot of people are wary of the gifts because they see the misuses and even false demonstrations of gifts, but they are good and necessary for the Body of Christ to be the best that it can be! I hope this is in any way helpful to you, and I would be happy to continue the conversation!
For a future video, can you comment on why you choose to translate monogenes as "begotten" in John 1:14 and elsewhere. In the MacArthur Study Bible, it clearly says that this is a mistranslation, which agrees with other modern translations like the ESV, CSB, NIV. Why have you decided to maintain begotten if that's not what this word communicates?
Why the choice to capitalize OT quotes in the NT? (Because the NASB did.) Is there possibly some other way to indicate that? In modern times all caps indicates SHOUTING. A new believer / reader might think this is SHOUTING. I wonder if there is a DIFFERENT way we could translate OT quotes into the NT.
Many choose the NASB specifically for that reason. I personally enjoy it. The NASB was the first bible I ever bought and read through cover to cover. As a new believer, I was never once offended or confused by the small caps.
How do you plan to deal with future releases of the CBGM, especially since you already have giving a nod to the CBGM given that you used "Jesus" in place of "Lord" in in Jude 5, where "...Jesus, after saving a people out of the land of Egypt..."?

Disappointed to see Lev 1:6 (and everywhere else) use the term “burnt offering”. James Jordan is totally right that it should be something like “ascension offering”. Please consider this!

Does anyone use that expression anymore? What else could have been used that perhaps would be more modern? 'With one mind', 'with one purpose', 'in full agreement'?
Matthew 12:48-50 But he replied to the man who told him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.” I think using the NT writer James, the half-brother of our Lord Jesus Christ is a better translation - brethren to brothers and sisters in Christ. He learned this from His brother.

The Christ vs Messiah topic is one I disagree with in the CSB. I am glad the LSB decided to keep it consistent to what the NT says.

Regarding brethren to brothers - I spotted "brethren" in 1 Peter 2:17, and 1 Peter 5:9 in the LSB. Not sure if the team will fix this.

I think it depends what Greek manuscript. Cause some do not have the Greek word ‘tw’ in it
