OpenMV vs. Huskylens: which one to buy with LEGO MINDSTORMS or SPIKE

  • See how you can connect both cameras to your LEGO Robot Inventor or SPIKE Prime robots. I discuss connecting the camera to actual LEGO plastic parts, electronics, and software. If you're deciding which one to buy, this video should have some answers. I have written a Micropython library to communicate with both cameras. You can use those libraries with SPIKE Prime, MINDSTORMS EV3, and MINDSTORMS Robot Inventor.

Hello sir! I really want to master ev3 lego mindstorm motor, and i saw your past videos about motor sync. Super cool becauce it involves math to correct itself.
In this video you use other device for line tracing, I hoped you discussed soon about light/color sensor of ev3. This part is hard to master especially color sensing.
    Thank you!

Hey Anton, Great video! I recently connected my pixy2 camera to my Spike Prime, but I'm having trouble having the two communicate with each other. I am using I2C and split the Spike Prime cable to connect to the pixy2 and plugged it directly into the Spike. Do you have any suggestion or recommendation???

Hey Anton. I love your videos. I got a bunch of your designs on your website a few weeks back. Ive been learning as much as I can about python and lego spike prime. I got the LED from lego essentials and have found no way to code it for python. Do you know anything about the 3X3 LED panel from lego essentials? Id love to be able to code it with python but as of now I can only use spike prime and scratch. Thanks again for all you do.

What is the advantage of the 'openMV H7 plus' compared to the 'openMV H7'?

Hey Anton! I'm looking to give both of these cameras a try. I'm going to order the two of them (an a Pixie) and a few of your breakout boards. Where can I get the cables you need to go from the LEGO (Spike or EV3) to the breakout board? And the breakout board to the two different cameras? Are they special cables?

This doesn't directly concern the content of this video but I don't know a better place to ask.
I just got the robot inventor set and while I like it, I would rather use an Arduino or Raz Pi.
Do you know of, or make/sell a connector from the sensors/motors to break out pins?
Just looking for an easy way to interface the Lego hardware with an Arduino. Skipping the Hub.
Thanks for all the interesting videos! New sub.

Huskylens; Does it produce .xml file? Or can we export the data file of the defined object to openCV?

Hello Anton, If I wanted to connect a camera to an EV3 or Spike vehicle with the intention of streaming the video somewhere (likely so I could control the vehicle from another room) what would you recommend?

@@AntonsMindstorms Thanks for this information but if we want to build a real human-following robot, in the street and we walk or run - wearing a distinguishable t-shirt for the huskylens if necessary - is this possible or there is also a problem of speed to follow the human? If there is a problem, can we easily (at the level of the algorithm and the code) leave the recognition of the human to the huskylens module but to manage the tracking speed of the robot, then we use an ultrasonic sensor (and the robot can follow a running humain I think)? Or is the algorithm designed to manage tracking and recognition on its own and it would be complicated to modify it? Thanks for the help

@@oliviertavel4169 Those are great questions, and I guess the only way to know the answer is: to experiment! I suggest doing most of the calculations on the camera because the SPIKE hub is not that powerful.

@@AntonsMindstorms Thanks for your answer and I thought make the calculations of the following with an arduino or ESP32 (I didn't kow the SPIKE hub). And yes, I I'm going to try, it's planned for soon !
