I have a Mini 4 Pro and an air three. Main reason I bought the A3 is stability. When it's breezy out it's like a rock. M4P is quite stable but doesn't handle wind like the A3.
I just sold my inspire 2 with x5s. The camera was amazing but I used it twice in three years. It was much too bulky. I recently got the mini 4 pro and I love it. The best drone to get is the one you’ll use.
I was searching for a comparison between the mini 4 pro and air 3s yesterday, couldn't find it. Searched again today because someone might upload a new video. so your video came in handy :D
Hey, great review of just what I have, the Mini 3 & 4 Pro! (An Avata 2 also). Doing indoor real estate with the Avata-2, and outdoor site surveys with the Minis! I like the pricing, RC-2 controller is great too, and having the LiDAR and its night obstacle avoidance! The size, too, well it’s priced near around the same as the Mini 4 Pro’s FlyMore Combo, so not too bad to decide! I think it have 30+ flight time too! Thanks for the review.🇺🇸
I have a DJI Mini 1 ! Crashed a couple of times but survived ... love it ... especially cheating death by using Litchi WayPoints ... but looking for an excuse to upgrade ... the MiniPro4 has certainly caught my eye and now the Air3S ... so this is the perfect comparison video I am happy to see. Good selection ... thanks for posting.
Thanks John. For most people, the mini 4 pro can do a ton of work. As your progress and the need for higher quality is a must, that’s when the air3s and Mavics come into play.
I have Mavic Mini 1 too. But now decided to upgrade to mini 4 pro to avoid any license issues. Because I want to take it to different countries when I travel. ❤❤
From a soon to be 1st time buyer - thanks very much for this comparison. Even if a supposedly “leaked” Mini 5 Pro with a 1” sensor comes before Xmas, I’m still heavily leaning to the Air 3S b/c of: stability, advanced features, flight time, and especially the 70mm camera. (Even if: vertical shooting is only 2.7K compared to 4K on the mini series, and being over 250grams intimidates me)
Bro your over thinking it you don't need a air3s unless you do professional work and earn 98% of your income doing video/photo get the mini line and be done with it. You can literally throw the mini in your pocket and always have it with you. The air line you literally have to plan to film to bring it with you. It's a pain in the ass trust me I have air and mavic drones and I never bring them along on my trips and journeys or when I film for TH-cam I find myself reaching for my girlfriends mini 3 100% of the time.
Have Mini 4 Pro, ordered Air 3S after watching it fly at 27m/s and zoom to 9x, my Mavic 2 Zoom works great but with the crap going on I wanted a backup while I could still purchase one, the Air 3S just cleared customs....
Thank you for sharing. I am still uncertain about what to choose, but in the next two months, I will buy one of these, or maybe the Mini 5. You are a really good reviewer
On rainmakers channel only the Mini 3 Pro and the new Air 3s had the best results when it came to an intense obstacle avoidance tests. The only 2 drones that passed in the last 10 years of testing the same test! Something to consider for sure!
Nice comparison points. 100% agree on the portability aspect of the mini series. I used to take my Mavic with me on motorcycle rides but the space and set-up requirements meant a greater hassle factor and I found that I was choosing not too fly at stops because of that hassle factor. I got a Mini 3 and that solved the portability / set up hassles. I upgraded to the Mini-4 Pro because of the increased obstacle avoidance sensors. I agree tat the video / image quality of the Mini series isn't necessarily equivalent to DJI's larger drones/cameras. But for TH-cam and social media posts the video / image quality is more than adequate.
If I was a beginner getting my first camera drone, I would choose the new Air 3S. And future proof myself from having to buy another drone in six months time. Great video, and thanks for sharing.

Not confusing for anyone flying DJI a few years, but for someone just beginning to explore? Yes, they could benefit from a breakdown of the model line. Unless you have a specific need, such as sub-250 gram, or multiple camera setups, vs. single, I usually tell folks to "figure out how much DJI Drone as you can afford, and then spend 20-50% more. The still cam on the 4K is pretty awful even though the video is great. It's a great beginner drone but I really want quality stills for prints. I know the 3S can deliver that BUT... it's huge and because of the weight, will require getting that Part 107 to use.
Cool vid, mate. Much appreciated. Im a lover of the Mini4pro and i use it for commercial purposes. Living near the beach, the only 2 reasons im considering adding the Air3 (not the S) is high wind stability ( although the Mini4pro is pretty amazing! ) and the tele lense for that paralax effect. I love the discreet footprint of the Mini4pro. Cheers!
Great comparison! I want to buy one of these but it's still not clear what drone is best. By the look of it it's best to buy both since they cover literally everything I want to do (but yeah, expensive and the Air 3S requires a drone exam/certificate)....
Its a huge difference. The mini is doing great for its size, but if youre flying over the sea or in the mountains, it can reach its limit. It will still fly but talking videos will get hard and the speed aswell as range will be very limited.
IN BRITAIN it isn't going to make any difference which is better. The CAA and government have regulated drones so much that everythong over 250g is a real pain to be able to fly. Sub-250g is where it is at. Mini 4 Pro is what I have.
I have had a mini 4 pro since launch and it's been absolutely brilliant. I just took delivery of my Air 3S because the larger dynamic range and addition of the 70mm full resolution zoom in a body that is more stable in poor weather meant for me it wasn't an "or" but an "and". They compliment each other for me. I wouldn't get rid of the mini 4 pro as so flexible to fly and small to carry but for my use the 3S definitely has advantages I need for what I do. Already had the required flyer ID, insurance and so on so in my case it was a no brainier. And I live in the Scottish Highlands so the whole 50m from people and buildings thing just isn't an issue but I get for some that would be a deal breaker.
Ditto, also 99% of people wouldn’t notice anyway, been flying the Mini drones for commercial work since day 1 & have never had any clients comment on the quality being poor. The 3s is more for people who want to film themselves or others moving on difficult situations.
Same story in Canada. Under 250g is the way to go. No registration, no licensing test. The only rule is DON'T DO ANYTHING STUPID. Right now I have 4 mini drones. And 5 over 250g drones. By the time spring rolls around I don't expect to have any over 250g drones. I will sell what I can and trash the rest.
I’ve flow them all. I fly my mini 4 pro just because I like to be discrete.. it seems like when someone sees a drone they automatically think they’re being recorded and air stocked
I bought a Mini 4 Pro last May. I absolutely LOVE it. Although I would like to buy a Mavic 4 Pro Cini when it's released. However, I am seriously considering the Air 3S over the Mavic 3 Pro. I'd love to hear anyone's thoughts. Thanks for posting this video.
Hi Aldryn, any chance you could compare the Air 3S vs Air 2S? I have owned the Air 2S since launch and have been really happy with it, just want to hear your opinion on whether I should upgrade from the Air 2S to the Air 3S. Many thanks!! 😊👍🏼
I would recommend the Mavic 3 Classic instead of the Air 3S. However, this model is no longer available through the DJI online store. Nevertheless, you can certainly still find it at some retailers.
Hi thanks for the video. It's a good question and as I already own a mini 3 pro, an Avata 2 and the Neo... ce big question is: The Mini 5 Pro or the DJI Air 3S? 😁
Mini Pro 4 owner here, it's my first drone. For those who don't have a drone yet, just buy the Air 3/S. If you buy the Mini Pro, you're going to wish you had that telephoto lense, and then eventually be like me, and want to buy a second drone
what about the weight difference and the restrictions that come with it? i was leaning towards the mini 4 because of it .. i want to do real estate and marine/boat gigs with my drone
@@mariefs. If weight is a concern, I’d suggest going with the Mini. It’s also a great option for real estate work. For marine filming, if you’re only capturing boats in a marina, the Mini should be fine. However, in windy conditions, you might notice some jitteriness in the footage. As for me, I want the Air because I film moving objects and need a drone that can track from a safer, longer distance. With the Mini Pro, I’d have to keep it closer to the subject, which increases the risk of being too near the ground, trees, buildings, and power lines.
I have the standard Mini 3 and it's a great little drone, only thing i wish it had is the video and photo quality of this new Air 3s, especially low light performance. i don't need all the fancy features like follow me mode/tracking etc, i just want a great camera drone within my low budget, perhaps i will save up and buy a used Mini 4 pro as that has better low light performance over the Mini 3.
I have the Air 2S so by default I want the new Air 3S. That being said, I don't need the new drone, but I want it. Right now I'm down a mini drone which I should really think about getting but I'm holding out for the mini five pro. But with the customs issues going on right now who knows if we're gonna see the mini five pro. I may go ahead and pull the trigger on the Air 3S and then purchase some extra batteries for my Air 2S just to keep it in the air longer.
Will go with mini 4 pro. Because I won't fly in night and I want that freedom to fly under toy category which I can take to any country with me and take some stunning footagem. 🎉🎉Mini fans hit the like button ❤❤
In watching a couple of your informative videos I notice you go to the same place sometimes. Cliffside in Del Mar. Where is that as I live in SD and I want to fly there? I see the Del Mar fairgrounds in the background but I can't find this on the map.
@@FlytPath Thank you, I saw dog beach on google maps but it made it look far away from the ocean not on the cliff by the ocean. I will take my Air 2S there and do all the quick shots which is where I first saw you vid. I havn't had much chance to use those so I will use them all there.
With the Mavic 3, Mini 4 Pro, and the Neo, the only new drone I want is a Neo Pro with a better camera and longer flight time. Side sensors would be nice, but not likely.
I would like dji to Consider making a camera system also instead of drones only. With all that Hasselblad knowhow a brand new camera (like sony fuji etc) could be the gamechanger.
Is there reason for varying aperture in photos. Why need for reducing aperture value eg. To F8 or so? I use high F mainly for waterfalls and long exposure, but d4ones shake too much I believe.
With so many drone rules in every country with weight issues, i prefer to stick with my mini 4 pro and i will pass up getting the air 3s just because the mini 5 is coming out soon, pretty sure it will have alll this features there.
I feel like the Air 3S is in a very weird spot. At that price point and weight, might as well just go a little bit bigger to the Mavic 3 and get that full m43 main sensor. Weight difference is like 200gramms? If you're getting a 2nd hand mavic the price difference is also going to be minimal. Side note: Most countries that have tight drone regs these days require registration for any camera drone, not just if it's >250g. Usually the lighter weight does give you less restrictions in terms of where you're allowed to fly though, eg over people or closer to airports.
Hi, I've had a couple of Minis but I'm looking for a drone to match the obstacle avoidance/follow features of the Skydio 2+ now that Skydio is no longer selling to the public. Video quality is a secondary concern. I'm not really seeing anything like it on the market. Am I missing something?
I bet the future Mini 5 Pro is going to have that front sensor and not need GPS to take off and return to the pilot. Anyone know when the new Mini 5 Pro is going to be released?
The Mini 5 pro will be interesting and i can't wait to see what DJI do with it, it could be similar to the Mini 4 pro, but with better camera and LIDAR sensor?
not worth the upgrade from air 3 in my opinion, air 3 get the job done in most parts, the only big difference were lidar for night flights, smart rth and slightly bigger sensor.
The usual rule is to skip the next upgrade and in your case wait for the Air4. Yes the Air3s has a better sensor and some good new stuff over the Air3 but that's how marketing is working 😁 Use what you have and enjoy it ❤️
Ciao, cosa ne pensi del fatto che il bitrare è diminuito nel dji air3s rispetto al dji air3? Ci sono anche numerose segnalazioni di effetto moiré per il dji air3s. Sembra un po' deludente da questo punto di vista
Hi, thank you for this video! One question for you: on the website the Air 3S says it supports 2.7K vertical shooting. Do you mind either responding here or making a more in-depth video about what that looks like especially in comparison to the Mini 4Pro's vertical 4K. I create content that's mostly vertical but I love the updated features in the 3S over the mini 4Pro. I just don't know what to expect with 2.7K compared to 4K vertical and if the features are worth losing the difference in 4K quality? Thanks in advance!
Considering that the goverment is looking at banning the private ownership (non Goverment). I'm going to hold off on my next purchase. I do like DJI's products.....
So how is the quality shooting videos for social media or Instagram on the air 3s. I have the mini 4 pro and I know it shoots in 4K vertical mode but you said the air 3S doesn’t? Now I might have to return my air 3S because majority of my shooting is for Instagram or Facebook.
@@TheRoyalPlum I decided to keep my 3s because the camera is definitely superior. I figure I’m just gonna keep both for different reasons. Never a bad thing to have options.
When I'm travelling I just love to take the Mini 3 Pro as it doesn't require a lot of space and it's very light. Air 3s would increase photo quality, but I'd need to buy a bigger backpack as well and carry more with me. And no vertical videos/photos.
I’m in Australia looking for a cheap fun drone to play around with as I’ve had no experience flying drones before. I’m interested in the Mini 3 Pro. I just can’t seem to find them for sale. I don’t know if they’ve discontinued making them. Went onto the DJI store in Australia and they are not for sale. I would like the Mini 3 Pro Fly More Combo. If anyone has any information or tips for me, greatly appreciated.
Thank FlyPath for this video that compares DJI Air 3S with DJI Mini 3 and DJI Mini 4 Pro. As of today, October 19th, 2024, yours is the ONLY one doing this.
Still didn't buy a drone because every year they come with something new that gives you FOMO. Ad the constant regulation changes and its a nightmare to choose the right one. The next drone will probably have 360 degrees lidar..
There is no point in being selectively angry. So you donât believe in buying fake bags, a purchase is a purchase, regardless of the intention. I personally think it's crazy to care too much about how people want to spend their money. I bought real coach, marc jacobs, and mcm. If it's more than 1500, I'll buy a replica kislux . Guess what else I have in the bank, I'm a homeowner and drive a Lexus. I saw someone on TH-cam who had tons of luxury items, lived in their mom's house, and was broke
Even though it's late to release, I don't need a new drone until Spring. So I'm waiting for the Mini Pro 5. If DJI put the new 1" sensor in it, I'll buy it's up on DJI website. PLEASE DJI PLEASE
Depends on where you live. In the US, if you fly for fun: You don't need a license for either drone, but you need to register the Air (not the Mini) with the FAA. If you fly commercially, you need a license and register either drone.

Thanks for your very useful video. I have a Mini Pro 3 and in termes of images quality it is little bit limited so looking for some thing like 3S
do a video on whats the difference between avata and mp4 and advantages👍
I would recommend the Mavic 3 Classic instead of the Air 3S. However, this model is no longer available through the DJI online store. Nevertheless, you can certainly still find it at some retailers.
Hi thanks for the video. It's a good question and as I already own a mini 3 pro, an Avata 2 and the Neo... ce big question is: The Mini 5 Pro or the DJI Air 3S? 😁
Next upgared for u is helicopter bro😂
@@RAGINGXBULL2 ahh. i see! thank you :)
As a commercial photographer, the lidar, and all-round sensing is VITAL. You will crash your drone often, but the lidar makes it 95% less likely.
Hiya from The Bahamas, Aldryn. How does the Air 3S 12mp one-inch sensor compare to the Air 2S 20mp one-inch sensor?
I have the Air 2S so by default I want the new Air 3S. That being said, I don't need the new drone, but I want it. Right now I'm down a mini drone which I should really think about getting but I'm holding out for the mini five pro. But with the customs issues going on right now who knows if we're gonna see the mini five pro. I may go ahead and pull the trigger on the Air 3S and then purchase some extra batteries for my Air 2S just to keep it in the air longer.
5:17 that temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is stunning! San Diego! Awesome.
Will go with mini 4 pro. Because I won't fly in night and I want that freedom to fly under toy category which I can take to any country with me and take some stunning footagem.
🎉🎉Mini fans hit the like button ❤❤
mini 4 pro has night mode
If Specta releases the air 3s equivalent I might get one since I heard they have removed all geofencing from their drones.
In watching a couple of your informative videos I notice you go to the same place sometimes. Cliffside in Del Mar. Where is that as I live in SD and I want to fly there? I see the Del Mar fairgrounds in the background but I can't find this on the map.
Dog beach Del Mar. walk up the cliffs on the right side.
Im following cus your in san diego
me2
I just got the mini 4 pro. I just need to use the thing
I would like dji to Consider making a camera system also instead of drones only. With all that Hasselblad knowhow a brand new camera (like sony fuji etc) could be the gamechanger.
They used a katana to slice their drones heads off and make the pocket 3
Great information, thanks
Appreciate you watching!
Can you do the footage quality comparison?
I’m sticking with my Mavic 3. No aperture control on the Air3S is a deal breaker for me for as I use my drone for photography.
I still run my old Mavic 2 pro
Is there reason for varying aperture in photos. Why need for reducing aperture value eg. To F8 or so? I use high F mainly for waterfalls and long exposure, but d4ones shake too much I believe.
@@cantkeepitindepth of field. To make a background blurry while your subject stays in focus.
@@zoranm6432 but it's fixed as low as it will go... so you're getting as much depth of field as possible anyways.
@@HendrixVisuals sometimes I use a middle setting f8 to get the blur effect around my subject.
I had that problem aswell. So at the end I decided to buy a used Mavic 3 with the rc Pro controller for 1200€
Get the big boy babyyy
😆 yes
The only thing I love in Mini 4 Pro is true vertical photo/video. It's a real miss on the bigger drones. Cropping is not enough for me ☹
Hi, I've had a couple of Minis but I'm looking for a drone to match the obstacle avoidance/follow features of the Skydio 2+ now that Skydio is no longer selling to the public.
I can't wait for the mini 5 pro release
They wont be able to fit a one inch sensor on the mini body. So it might be a complete redesign but im expecting huge compromises to get it sub 250g
I'm waiting for the mini 5
What about the Mavic 3 Classic? Or even a refurbished Mavic 3 Pro as a first camera drone?
Im FPV only currently.
So many choices, i want them all 😂
U have them all 😂

I have an Air 3, are the photos and video quality really that different? Considering upgrading, thoughts???
Watch my previous air 3s video. I have more side by sides and details
not worth the upgrade from air 3 in my opinion, air 3 get the job done in most parts, the only big difference were lidar for night flights, smart rth and slightly bigger sensor.
The usual rule is to skip the next upgrade and in your case wait for the Air4. Yes the Air3s has a better sensor and some good new stuff over the Air3 but that's how marketing is working 😁 Use what you have and enjoy it ❤️
Sold my Mini4Pro for the Air3S!!!
But a HoverAir X1 ProMax is on it’s way, for lightweight trekking, biking and skitouring!
Haaaa. That’s exactly what I did, Hoover promax on the way and 3S
Is here, 😊
Im keeping my AIR 2s Why ? AIR3s 2nd Camera Should have been NIGHT Vision B/W *IR* Camera for 24 hour Day/Night usage [+]
When can we expect Mini Pro 5 ?
Can i upgrade from dji air 3s from dji air 3. I have bought air 3 last month
Ciao, cosa ne pensi del fatto che il bitrare è diminuito nel dji air3s rispetto al dji air3? Ci sono anche numerose segnalazioni di effetto moiré per il dji air3s. Sembra un po' deludente da questo punto di vista
Still waiting for the mini 5 pro. Then I will buy mini 5 pro or air 3s based on the specs comparison.
Do the cameras shoot at the same time (like my M30T)… or do you have to select/ switch cameras?
They don’t

The Air3S does not support H264 in 4K which is an issue for most people
Hi, thank you for this video!

It’s shoots 2.7 vertical. More than enough for social.
That’s one of the reason I didn’t get it the 3s as yet and I’m actually disappointed by that .
@@TheRoyalPlum I decided to keep my 3s because the camera is definitely superior. I figure I’m just gonna keep both for different reasons. Never a bad thing to have options.
that is an easy decision. The Air 3 is hands down so much more.
When I'm travelling I just love to take the Mini 3 Pro as it doesn't require a lot of space and it's very light. Air 3s would increase photo quality, but I'd need to buy a bigger backpack as well and carry more with me. And no vertical videos/photos.
air 3 is not in this video..
@@jeroenvdwtbh it’s surprising how easy it is to carry and travel with the air 3 and air 3s

Discontinued because the mini 4 pro

What about the mini 3 pro??
If buying a new one, then just buy the mini 4 pro.
Does anyone know where I can trade a drone?
Even though it's late to release, I don't need a new drone until Spring. So I'm waiting for the Mini Pro 5. If DJI put the new 1" sensor in it, I'll buy it's up on DJI website. PLEASE DJI PLEASE
DJI comes out with 2 many drones a year just to make more money. Sony doesn't do that with cameras
Sensor size difference is neglible.
Hi
I that price range for shure 3s amazing but 4 pro it's overpriced
You forgot to mention that you need a license to fly the DJI Air 3S
Depends on where you live. In the US, if you fly for fun: You don't need a license for either drone, but you need to register the Air (not the Mini) with the FAA.
If you fly commercially, you need a license and register either drone.
@@stephanbergmann8373 That is incorrect! To fly the DJI Air 3S, you need to have the Drone Pilot Basic Light A1 license in the United States.
@@floridaoutdooradventures8981It's a commercial remote pilot license (Part 107) by the FAA, I did the test two months ago so I should know 😊
I have both air 3 and mini 4 pro😅
What one do u prefer?
I got my first air for $600 my air 2 at $700. Im not spending $1700 for the air3s lmao wtf hsppened to the price. especially when a mini 3 has the exact exact same sensor thats in mini 4 pro. You can buy a mini 3 for $300. Id you film weddings sure go with the air3s. Are you jjst flying the mini line is good. Fun faxt i know a guy who makes $100k a year with hid mini 3 drone.
Me with a mini 1 watching this video 🤣🥲🥲
NV and thermal capability would be nice to chase off those pesky 'predators' at night!
I've seen several commercial drone videos where they add a $10,000 LIDAR system in order to do really accurate drone mapping. is there any way the lidar on the Air 3S is going to benefit in the 3D mapping world?
Does 3s have vertical shooting
no
@@elmorunner but can it render it as vertical

I wish the video you took with both drones took the same flight path. The Mini was always further away from the target.
