thanks for posting this - these evo x how tos are a great service to the evo community
Is this why the 4WD System Service Required light comes up?
the most likely reason, yes
You should look into Driven Fab's pump relocation kit ! moves the pump into the trunk to avoid corrosion
Yes I have looked into those, may be purchasing soon.
I have the driven fab th-cam.com/video/fmIOFs6ibrY/w-d-xo.html
Turn your music down.
OMG the music....
Agreed!
Yes PLEASE
Sorry WHAT? TOO BUSY THUMPING TO THE BEAT
Mine are tighter than tight. Been here all day. Got one off so far 😡
I’ve read that it’s alright to drive it without the pump even after long periods of time. That it makes the Evo drive just like a regular AWD vehicle. Does anyone have any thoughts one this? The closest Mitsubishi dealer is 2 hours away. So, I was thinking on trying to see if I can take it apart first to see if I could rebuild it. If successful I’d then proceed to rebuild then get it bleed. Just hesitant if it would be safe to drive for that long with out there being any oil in the pump.
I currently rebuild them for the DFW market. Not just the plate/o-rings but actual full rebuild including the pump motor itself if it goes out.
@@thebandaman7763 how much?
Hey Devin, I was just wondering if it's a similar process for the Evo 8? I'm assuming it would be... I was going to bleed it myself on jack stands but it sounds like it might be easier to get the dealership to do it! Oh and man, your videos have a come a long way! Good work, I appreciate it!
Any place you can send your ayc and rebuild it ?
Hey Devin! Can you give me step by step how to replacement evo x hydraulic pump?
great video devin u are always producing great stuff, but the music is a bit loud hard to focus on what you are saying imo. great video tho thanks !
Awesome vid, my pump is out as well and will def use this video once I replace it.
Did you unplug some wires or did you disconnect the relay?
I unplugged the main connectors on the back side of the pump.
Can I leave all connectors disconnected ? Meanwhile I take the car to the dealer to bleed it ?
Tephra makes a program to manually bleed the ayc acd system. , it's called Evo x tool
Where I can get this bleeding program? Thanks!
Great video. But the music is just a bit to loud. It kinda over powers your voice atthe beginning
Got a question.
When you drove to the dealership which wiring did you not plug in?
The wiring in the back or the wiring at the side where the fluid pumps out?
I'm getting my pump bleed and don't want to fck it up.
Just leave it all unplugged to be safe.
Is this the same process for the mitsubishi lancer ralliart 2.0 turbo?
Hey man, not sure if you check this anymore. Where did you snag your replacement pump from? I am finding some online for 1,800 dollars, but I feel this is too much. I want to do it myself, but I don't want to pay that kind of money for a new pump. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you. Also, solid video. Thank you for posting.
hey devin. did you ever end up purchasing a relocation kit for it? if not, hows the ayc pump til this day. thanks
Hey brotha! Is there any chance that you remember where you got that ayc pump at for $400? Always followed and watched your videos and for the most part did by myself but now I'm stuck lol. I was also looking into a relocation kit for the ayc. Any advice or info I will forever worship!!!!! Lol
Can driving the car with the AYC pump bad cause any other damage?
No not at all.
Would put a bead of silicone on the two seals prevent future failure
Pretty awesome video thanks for the DIY. How many miles did your car had at the time?
Thank you! No problem, car had around 100k.
I'm looking to buy a 2014 Evo GSR.. is this still a problem with all model years of the EVO or has Mitsubishi resolved the problem with later model years?
No all model years have this problem.
Will this pump fit a ralliart gsr sst 2009?
☹ looks like mines gone. Shows 'service required' message on dash and picture of the drive train. Curiously ayc fluid still at the full level and can still change modes - gravel, tarmac, snow. Fingers crossed it's steering angle or wheel sensors, ie something cheaper to repair. Is it possible to get the fault code to display on the dash?
you fixed it I have the same problem?
Where u able to sort it out? Got a similar problem
so the car can be driven, even without the hose from the reservoir being connected?
Yes, id disconnect the pump tho.
Good video.
Mine has just gone I think. I've been getting the S-AWC service light coming on it goes away but then comes back it's on now but hasn't been on for over a week then come on today wasn't looking forward to this time at all hopefully it's not but taking it to dealership next few days. Any ideas what I could check before
Nathan Barker Definitely sounds like the pump
Really hoping it wasn't in back of mind I thought it was but got it booked in with dealer gonna get it ran with diagnostic find out then go from there. Either gonna fit it myself and then get them to bleed it like you did or buy new and take it to some guys that do the relocation for future peace of mind. Gonna speak to them and see what warranty or something they can do see if they can discount or put towards seen as its known flaw but with my car being 08 plate and at min on 68000m on clock not sure
Does it flash the gravel/snow/tarmac
What year is your x? Did you call back? Is it covered under warranty?
Its a 2008, I did call back. Not under warranty.
I have one with the C161E. Definitely a pump failure??
Ever found out?
Just got the same code
Did you ever fix it if so how?
Hey, Devine I'm at 73k on my evo x and should get my AYC pump service
only if it goes bum
have you done your timing chain?
Yes
Do we need to bleed it after install the new unit?
Yes
If the pump is brand new do I need to bleed it?
Yes it needs bleeding. You can do this via software or you can buy a bleed pump on ebay.
cool EVO !
Thank you
Where is the fuse for ayc pump
FYI Mitsubishi extended the warranty for corrosion, so you could have had the pump replaced for free through the dealership. It's a common issues. I had mine replaced.
I called with my VIN and they said it was not under warranty.
Mitsubishi currently replacing mine under warranty
I had to get those replaced mine went out as well! It was a bitch but at least it was covered by warranty lol. Like the videos man, If you could check out my evo vids id appreciate it! I subbed.
Yeah they are. Thank you, will do!
Literally can't hear anything over the music
What a stupid system. My car is going through its third pump. If mitsubishi had a face It would be punched.
These are recalled, I hope you didn't pay for a new one cuz Mistubishi replaces these for free
I called with my VIN and they said it was not under warranty.
Dvniemela That's weird, I took mine in and originally paid the $1800 they charge at the dealership, it went out again, took it back and I found out Mitsubishi had an extended warranty on them now so they refunded the full $1800. I'll DM you the pic on instagram of the paper I showed them
That is strange. Yes please do.
Dvniemela Sent it
So did they honor the warranty because I'm will be going down this road soon. PM if needed.
Anybody here re-build these? 🤓
