Man just thinking back to the little muddy pit you guys settled that slide in camper onto the first year and now a house, baby, really nice woodshed/storage/sawmill! Truly awesome you 2! As a father of 4 one of which is probably your age I commend you and am super proud of you as well!
Over a year ago, you both indicated you weren’t sure what you were doing. Now, look at you. You have a home, a great storage barn and so many other things/projects. We are very proud of both of you!
For what ever reason these two can’t seem to catch a break from comments that are worded in very negative unhelpful ways… just as there are ways to frame a house there are ways to phrase a suggestive/helpful comment. What ever happened to common decency? God bless their youth, and their willingness to explore life! May they come to know God will guide their foot steps.
The shed loft flooring looks good, different lengths and colors gives it character. Doesn't matter what everybody thinks just as long as you feel good about it. Keep doing what you are doing. Your home is coming together great.
With everything you have done on your homestead, you guys are so much more ahead of this time last year. You both should be proud of your accomplishments.
Love your progress on building your homestead. It's very obvious how you've both decided this is the place to live :) This shed will store soooo much stuff for you, including sheltering your sawmill, freezer, wood, firewood, etc. So excited for you. Keep up the good work ❤
I admire Alaskan couples working together, constructing their home. I like the different shades of the floor, Cody. You use what you have, improvising and re-cycling material with your community. Blessed to have neighbours who look out for each other. That’s a pretty good storage space. 🇦🇺 fan.
Compared to last year at this time you two are way ahead of the game. Don’t listen to anybody that thinks you are not. This is your life and it is not an easy one. Most of your complainers are probably sitting in an air conditioned or electric heated house just imagining what they would do. We all do that! It is a human trait. Just know you are making your place into a home and you get to enjoy the pace and goals you set for yourself . If you don’t take time to enjoy life and each other, well that would be beyond sad. Take care and this is from a 71 year old woman that wonders how life went by so quickly !
I'm also a 71 year old woman soon to be 72 in January, and you are correct in saying time goes by very quickly. It doesn't seem that long ago that I was running around with my 2 girls now, ages 43 & 37.
You guys are continuing to move forward and accomplish various tasks that are not easily done .I admire your resilience l will continue watching to see what else you have is on your agenda l know you are a very strong couple and what ever is next you'll do well. Also like to say you're baby is very happy and advanced for her age and she's absolutely beautiful !!
Cody, you are amazing. You have both achieved so so much. You have learned and improvised along the way, and you are good. Keep on doing what you are doing.full of praise for both you and Laurie. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Great work Cody and Lori. That loft storage will be a major benefit to keeping your yard space neat and tidy and everything out of the weather. That shed is a great building. Well done to you both. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇦🇺
The nail gun is a great tool. I had a problem with bears breaking into my house in the mountains, so I made bear mats by shooting nails into pallets. It’s been quite effective. Keep up your creative projects!
You guys are doing great and have accomplished so darn much. Wish I could have done that but never had enough faith in myself. I don’t regret my life just didn’t do enough. Now I am 73 and living vicariously through u all and your baby is adorable and god bless.you all have come a long way .
You do you - the both of you and ignore THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS from the insecure people who feel free & entitled to offer their opinions in a manner that is mean-spirited. Those people can go slip in a cowpie, face first. 👋😸✌️😹👍🐾🐾🇱🇷🌻🌻🌻
Glad to see that you are cleaning up before the snow hits. Don't forget to put the braces back in to the green house so that the roof does not cave in with the heave snow load. Over all good job.
Getting that done just in time. I see a hint of snow on the ground. You guys are making great progress! And, it's so nice to see you walking around on level ground.
Looking good, you guys are making it happen with team work, great job Cody on the loft..you have come a long way this summer season, happy you have a well ..looking forward to next weeks video❤️
So great to have the storage out of the weather for the winter! Good job! Hey Cody.. looks like a pile of wood blocks perfect to make building blocks for the little one!
Kid toys will be on the list eventually. Likely 2 summers from now we will tackle a large playground / jungle gym / tree house / obstacle course type thing.
Wow, you better sister another joist alongside that one we were looking at as you first started laying the flooring. It is seriously cracked right through the middle for more than half the length. Storing wood up there will put a good load on it that it is in no shape to bear. Nice job. Always feels nice to get more stuff under cover.
Looking so much more organized this winter than last winter. There will be other challenges for you but now you have water and a storage shed, woodshed, and a shed for your sawmill. You also have water!! Life will seem so much better
Hi lorri and Cody mammoth achievements have been made on this homestead always look forward to the weekend video take care both and a big hug to rowan I could hear her in the background chatting away stay safe.👍❤❤❤👋
Awesome video guys. Have you thought about maybe having a door in the end wall so you can palletise your storage stuff and just fork it uo there? Love how you have maximised the space you have.
I think it was super creative using all those scraps of wood for the floor; It’s beautiful. Don’t let anyone else tell you otherwise. It’s part of this area going to be for firewood as well?
Fr: The Bronx NY Hi 🤗, You all are making such PROGRESS... Its a wonderful thing to see. I'm soooo HAPPY for you all !!! The room that the freezer is in has walls with gaps in between the slats. Do you have any WORRIES in ref. to rodents looking for a place to live will climb up into the back of the freezer & will eventually chew up the wires ?? Perhaps a grate made of some sort of steel with tiny tiny holes allover can be fabricated and attached to the back of the fridge to keep the rodents out & allow the motor of the freezer to get all the air it needs. Thanks for Sharing 🙏💞🙏💞🙏💞
Hello, as of right now we don’t have any concerns of that happening. We’ve had a small freezer on our deck for the last year and never had issues but we will always keep our eyes open and adjust if it does happen.
I suggestion to you both is to only listen to those making helpful well intended comments and to ignore the nay sayers who are mostly fence sitters, and never tried difficult anything in life.
They have him strapped in a carrier. You can see him when dad is putting a 2x4 in the end. They always have him with them. Are you trying to infer something? What do you think? That they left him out in the forest??
Please do take the comment about sheathing the shed seriously-a sudden windstorm could wreck all the hard work you have done, destroy your sawmill and freezer along with the food inside. Do not ask how I know this...
PS: There's nothing in that shed you built to prevent racking (from wind) and falling over. Just don't be in it when it goes. It's a very unstable design. End to end is okay but side to side is very unstable. The more weight you add to the upper part the more unstable. You need to sheath the sides. Either plywood or 45 degree angle planking is essential and immediately. I saw a shed built like that collapse with someone inside about 30 years ago. It was awful. And the poor dude building it thought all was fine until it suddenly let go and fell over onto him.

You can hear him numerous times. You can hear mom talk to him. You can see him when dad is nailing the 2x4 in place. Did you watch the video?
