      That means they have to postpone other matches to another time or even day. It's almost impossible to do as you suggest.
      Unless tournaments had more days for competition and a few other tournaments were removed from the season(s).
      For me, players are too desperate to win as many titles as possible, specially the top ranked already filthy rich players. There should be a rule preventing them to enter any tournament they want to attend. Too much greed, regardless if they call it "love for the game." It's greed and fame they seek, namely The Big Three, Serena and Iga.

      @@mattiastennis i think it is impossible to have more days in a tournament due to full schedule in every week. If the tournament lasts more than 7 days or 14 days in GS, it is just hard for anyone who reaches the final and still wants to compete in a week after that. The best solution in Acapulco is to reduce the number of matches to 2 instead of 3 at this time. Because of the heat in Mexico, they can’t start the game earlier so 2 matches in 1 court would be perfect

  • @markuse3472
    @markuse3472 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    As long as Alexander has generally shoved away his anger explosions, I feel bad that he may not have fully recuperated from his lower leg injury (his bone edema is likely fixed).
    It's the type of thing that may plague his mind, as questioning if he "should" go for certain shots, or if he "shouldn't" or if he "can" or "can not" chase down certain balls as he once did.
    I feel he should have won a tournament by now after his comeback, but maybe, if I am correct in my assessment, his mind still needs a bit more time.
    But, that can also be a downside, seeing that everyone else are also fighting to be at their best. I hope I am wrong, but I want to see him win a tournament sooner than later.

  • @james-vx7nv
    @james-vx7nv ปีที่แล้ว +16

    And then Zverev got defaulted for smacking the umpires chair.
    But in all fairness, this day, was probably the best 11 hours in the history of this tournament.
    Match 1 was dramatic in itself, ending with the non handshake.
    Match 2: the longest in tournament history, Kozlov somehow winning even though at one stage he could not even stand. HOW? That was so inspirational.
    Match 3: The real record breaker. One minute short of the longest match in tournament history which was the match that came immediately before. Defending champion saves 2 match points in a 1h51m set and clinches it at 4:55AM. Had Brooksby's pass landed in on that break point, it may have broken the 5AM marker.

    • @json_bourne3812
      @json_bourne3812 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Small * on the first match, which was the longest match in the tournament's history AND the match to hold the record for the shortest time 😂
      An insane trio of matches that cause this kind of issue. It's almost impossible to work around - they have to schedule for average expected length, otherwise there's so much wasted time. Unfortunate that the players have to deal with the consequences

    • @malawi89
      @malawi89 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@json_bourne3812 Excellent point that few people consider. Most people focus on how insane it is that it's finishing at 5am, and it is insane. But what is the probability of 3 consecutive matches going over 3 hours? Would be surprised if that's happened since tiebreaks were made a thing. They probably factored in 3 consecutive 2 hour matches as an extreme, which would have ended well before 2am - not bad considering local timing.
