    I love that you couldn't explain the knot without saying make sure the continuous loop is on the top portion without laughing at yourself. Those of us that watch them all know why.

    I'm glad you posted this. I picked up a couple of 2 inch straps this year intending to do the exact same thing. Wasn't sure if I'd go back to a system with more hardware, but wanted to try it out. This gives me more confidence in the system, which I really appreciate.

    I used just the basic 15' nylon straps from Dutch with the becket hitch this past year and it worked out great. Less hardware the better. I have to check out those Myerstech straps.

    I'm speechless. I used descending rings and carabiners for most of ten years. Then, late last year, I bought some of Jeff Myer's Evo Loops to replace the carabiners. Been working great. Now you've made me realize I can dump the descending rings AND the Evo Loops and lose nothing except complexity. Thanks a million. (Though you have had me waiting for the Ridge Outdoor 360 to be re-stocked for MONTHS! What's up with that?)

    Good stuff. I am pretty good with my knots (including this one) but I am willing to take the weight "penalty" for cinch buckles for total ease of adjustment.

    I’m a fan of Beckett hitch, no hardware. I put an alpine butterfly knot loop on the end of the continuous loops - gives leverage for pulling out the Beckett when it’s tight. Myerstech sells continuous loops with an extra loop too. I like to use standard webbing tree straps and then attach the dyneema webbing to that - heavier, but I find it easier to wrap the tree and make sure I’m not damaging the bark. But my Dyneema webbing tends to narrow and a bit of a pain to flatten - your webbing looks easier to wrap around the tree flat.

    • @SpiguyverBackpacking1
      @SpiguyverBackpacking1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do have some continuous loops with the extra loop on the end to help give leverage for when the Beckett really locks in, but I haven't had that happen much with these straps.

    Hey ! I'm currently buying everything to go ultralight, and this includes a dyneema webbing, wich is approx. 1.5g per foot. But you said that you went away from this material, why is that ? If it is because of the slippery surface of it, couldn't I simply add an additional "security" knot to lock the first knot ? If it's because it doesnt easily stay flat, couldn't I simply make an double wrap around the tree if I have enough lenght ? Thanks for your answer, and for your videos too !

    Say, I bought the dynema webbing from Myers years ago but it is very, very stiff after loaded. I've been looking for your suggestion on Myers Facebook & Ebay sites with no luck. A reply you made Jonathan indicates you have an email for Myers, could you post that? A polyester/UHMWPE webbing that stays flexible would be great. Thanks.

    • @SpiguyverBackpacking1
      @SpiguyverBackpacking1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you do a search for Derek Hansen, he wrote The Ultimate Hang, he does a video comparing different suspensions and knot systems and found the most effective water break to be a becket hitch! I've never had an issue and don't run any additional water breaks.
