Have owned an xpro 3 since it came out and honestly indifferent to it at best . I did my time with it found it absolutely made me stop chimping so now I rarely do it when using other cameras. But thats the rub you can do that with any camera. It wasn't a big upgrade from the xpro 2 outside of the screen change and I'm much more interested in a hopefully Xpro 4 with the latest 40mp sensor down the line .
Great video! The X-Pro 3 along with the 23mm or the 28mm f2 is seriously just a killer combo. But pop on it a 33mm and it’s in a different world altogether. The X-Pro 3 is a camera I’ll never sell, I love it more and it means more to me than how much I’d get for it if I sold it.
I hear ya, the M body is another thing I don't think I'll ever give up. Over years of upgrading bit by bit, I'm currently at the M11-P, which is my desert island camera. The X-Pro 3 allows me to have more effortless fun, while the M is another level in pretty much all areas.
I am currently using an X-Pro3 and a GFX 50R. I take the MF camera with me when I think I will need maximum image quality, especially when taking in low light. But it's heavy, and quite obtrusive for street photography. So I often take the X-Pro3 with me when a smaller lighter camera is called for - and I love it. In terms of the pleasure I derive from using a camera, the X-Pro3 is my favourite since my old Contax G1.
I own an Xpro3 and really enjoy using it. It looks good, feels good in hand and the image quality is very acceptable for work. I don't use it for work though, its one of my EDC cameras. Though I use other camera brands for work, the XPro3 is just that great little, discreet take everywhere camera. Since June last year, I also purchased a Q3 and it too is a solid camera. I do prefer the looks of the XPro3 but have to admit the image quality of the Q3 is something else.
I have owned the original Q at one point and the image quality truly was incredible. The cost of the new ones keep me away. At that price, I am going all in M10 :)
As someone who shoots a Leica M10-R I can assure you that you will get used to not seeing the final pic in the viewfinder pretty fast. I rarely use the screen to check my photos. And the X-Pro3 probably is the only camera on the market that comes close to it. If you use the OVF😉👋.
You seem to have the same GAS as me. I've gone from SL to M240 to M10 to M11. Q to Q2 Mono to Q3. Took delivery of an X1DII after selling my Canon R5 for a trip to Banff. A week later the X2D was announced and I returned the X1DII and waited. For months. Ended up ordering the GFX100S for the Canada trip. That brought me full circle back to my first step into mirrorless, a Fuji X-Pro3 (had the XP1 originally). Ok so the point of this... The M11 sits on the shelf. I even took the XP3 to Disney as well. Just loved it & am likely going to sell the M11 because it's a camera that you have to use ALL of the time to get proficient with. Personally, I'd adapt M lenses for your SL2 and call it a day. HOWEVER... As much as I'm loving the XP3 (also now added an X-T5) the best camera I ever held in my hand was that X1DII... just a pure joy. But a bit too big to lug around. Anyway... my $.02. Great vid!
Thank you and man. I feel that. I just traded my X1dii because I didn't use it the way I intended sadly. My favorite in hand camera ever. Easily. I do adapt M glass on the SL2s but miss the actual rangefinder experience. I hoped the xpro3 ( I've had 1,2,&3 ) would negate wanting anything else but....
all X-Pro prices have doubled in the past couple years and I'm so sad I didn't buy one. it's impossible to find even an X-Pro 2 under $1000! they used to be $500.. 3s are easily 1500-2000 when they used to be maybe 1000 on the high end.

Funny to see a video when someone is in the exact same boat. Same age. Same situation. Same decisions. Came here looking for xpro3 content to back up my decision only to find that we face the same one. At least we’re not alone. Nice video. Had the x-pro3 in 2022 sold it inside 6mths as it just felt uninspiring and boring. I didnt miss the back screen as like you I use EVF. Apart from being uninspiring I was also spooked by the many people reporting screen failure (ribbon breaks) so thought better to cut my loses. In saying that I decided to buy a M-11 and you can imagine regardless of cost it has revived my photo interest and yes the files are fantastic.
Thats awesome! I think my ideal set up is the m10d like I mention but I wouldnt be mad about an M11 either! I would love to see those shots. Where can I find you ?
@@jeremygouge ….its a good camera, and imo in many cases the pictures rendered in camera, look with a few tweaks in Lightroom, more like real film than anything else I did try. The so called digital Leica look is sterile and cold for my taste, nothing like chromatic films looked like when I used them. I have no idea why people do not train to take better pictures… this summer I took ø 5000 shots. Every fail teaches me how to get better…. and I get slowly better and better. @@jeremygouge …we can’t argue personal taste. If you like Leica the best… 📸 Ok. One of my relatives did work for Leitz Wetzlar. It was something different directly after second world war. I didn’t understood what was wrong with my Canon gear in the 80s and my relative never gave me the feeling that it needs to be a Leica, even though he was proud of being a engineer in this company. Today watching photo books, for example by Haas. I cant tell when he used his Leicas or one of the other brands. But I can tell when I see a Haas picture… maybe I am just too old for the brand game….🤣🙈🤣🤝

@@jeremygouge The Voigtlander X mounts offer a more satisfying experience with their electrical connections, more so than "dumb" mounted which I've also tried. Enjoy :)
Yeah every camera has its own color science and it affects how you edit. Sony leans green, Canon leans orange….not all RAW files from every camera is just neutral.
I used to edit about 15-20 weddings a week for a national wedding company who contracted out to shooters and have seen files from about every camera you can buy.(as of about 5 years ago) There is very much a difference in RAW file colors between companies. It’s where I first understood the Leica price because the RAW files were impressive and needed so little color and contrast correction compared to other brands.

Subscribed brotha. Canʻt say anything about the xpro3, but for myself, the antidote to all my GAS is a ricoh 28mm f/1.7 if thats even possible.
Thank you so much! I had a Ricoh Grii ( my son now has ) and loved using it. I've considered selling the xpro for a newer GRiiix but I'm not sure !
@@jeremygouge I have the griiix. I love it, but because I use it for family documentary, the iii would’ve been more fitting. Once that 28mm f/1.7 or f/2 Ricoh comes out, I’m dropping everything and buying that!
@@rapbisnar do you think they will ever ? I had a leica q once with that 28mm 1.7 that was pretty amazing.
@@jeremygouge the Ricoh GRD iv has a 28mm f1.7 lens, but the sensor is smaller than an apsc so there’s limitations there. But the gr series is almost the same size, it’s hard to see why they couldn’t do it. I recently picked up the q2 which is insane. I contemplated selling the griiix
@@jeremygouge you thought about picking up a q/q2 again?
I’m looking at an X-Pro 3 tomorrow, and the intention is to cancel my X100Vi pre-order.
Like you, I’m trying to slow down and enjoy my time out on the streets, or wherever.
In my opinion the X-Pro 3 will give me a much more connected experience.
I say stick with the XP3.
I sadly let mine go before I had the “ ribbon issue” but I miss it. I loved that camera and look forward to hopefully an xpro4 with the xt5 sensor!
@@jeremygouge 2026 for the XP4 I believe.
@@rogerbrooksfilms that’s too long. They are making a huge mistake waiting that long IMO
@@jeremygouge I believe that they’re prioritising X100V and Vi orders, as well as XT-50 and other priorities. They know that the X-Pro series is niche, and rightly or wrongly the other models sell in bigger numbers.
Funny to see a video when someone is in the exact same boat. Same age. Same situation. Same decisions. Came here looking for xpro3 content to back up my decision only to find that we face the same one. At least we’re not alone. Got rid of my Leica’s (digital and film) because I liked the handling of the xpro3 more….but that M10D remains my holy grail. Had to laugh when you mentioned that. I would like to spend more time thinking about making photographs than researching gear in 2024, and yet here I am 🙂.
Keep up the content.
I got your back! LOL it's always a tough choice. Wanting a camera that's capable but also inspiring right?
Yup... I,m still with XPro3. Love it.
I have mine listed at the moment for sale but I'm tempted to keep it lol
@@jeremygouge where is it listed? 🙂
@@SergioSchvezov a few places lol FB, Fred Miranda.. feel free to DM me on IG @jeremy.gouge
Fuji already stated that there will be no new Xpro lineup in 2024 not even in 2025 its all speculation….why is also a question… my xpro2 works fine.
The xpro2 is one of my all time favorite cameras period! I took some of my favorite photos ever with it.
Leser quantity more quality pictures. It’s pure joy and I do it for the fun….🤩
@@beyourself9162 I do love my Leica so I’m a little biased but agree as well
@@jeremygouge …we can’t argue personal taste. If you like Leica the best… 📸 Ok. One of my relatives did work for Leitz Wetzlar. It was something different directly after second world war. In the 50s and 60s Leica was what was produced in our home country. Yes I know it’s an innovative company.
@@beyourself9162 I get that on a deep level lol. 45 this month and just shooting what inspires me above all else ;)
Bought the xpro3 for the 3rd time. Just can’t stay away from it.
I'm glad it's not just me then lol
Xpro1 still a great B&W camera.
I think so too. The colors aren’t quite as good as newer options but for BW it’s perfect
Keep going brother
Thank you, I will
Sold Leica M10 since I still prefer shooting my X-Pro2 for digital! Have an old M2 paired with old 35mm f2,8 Summaron, and just got early M3 to pair with new LLL ELCAN 50mm, so this has me covered for film rangefinders ;-) Well done on this video, thanks!
Thank you for the kind words. I am surprised to hear you sold off the M10. I have to ask why you decided to go that direction?
I subscribed
Thanks so much! Hope I can provide some information or entertainment at my expense while your here ;)
From what I keep seeing and reading on various forums there is no X-Pro4 coming this year.
I saw that as well. A great time to have a 3 then :)
Fuji….. Fuji……. Fuji….
Your biased though
XP3 is heaven, Voigtlander X manual lenses makes it great fun to use and so satisfying...
I can't disagree but I haven't tried the Voigtlander X mount yet, but adapt my M mount Voigtlander 40 1.4 , and 75 1.5
@@jeremygouge The Voigtlander X mounts offer a more satisfying experience with their electrical connections, more so than "dumb" mounted which I've also tried. Enjoy :)
@@34136TS I'll need to check them out!
I have to chuckle when someone shoots RAW and claim they don’t like the camera colors. It’s a meaningless argument.
I understand but even raw files have some color characteristics of the camera. For example: my Leica and Hasselblad raws are superior colors imo
Yeah every camera has its own color science and it affects how you edit. Sony leans green, Canon leans orange….not all RAW files from every camera is just neutral.
@@greysuit17 exactly! Well said
I used to edit about 15-20 weddings a week for a national wedding company who contracted out to shooters and have seen files from about every camera you can buy.(as of about 5 years ago) There is very much a difference in RAW file colors between companies. It’s where I first understood the Leica price because the RAW files were impressive and needed so little color and contrast correction compared to other brands.
@@deadman1515Hasselblad is another example of that
