    00:43 Serenade for orchestra in D major, K. 250 (248b)
Mozart’s Serenade No. 7 is often called the “Haffner Serenade.” Its name comes from Mozart’s friend, Sigmund Haffner the Younger. Mozart wrote the piece for Sigmund’s sister, Marie Elisabeth Haffner, to be performed on the eve of her wedding. Though serenades are usually less formal than symphonies, Serenade No. 7 is considered to be Mozart’s first truly transcendent work for orchestra. Pay special attention to the romantic violin solos that characterize much of the piece. Would you want this music to be played before your wedding?
