Because charcoal grains dont stick together alone they need a binder . And statch is a binder and organic so this is a chemical free product which can be uses to cook without any smells or chemicals floating around into your nose or food.
Would it also work to use small amounts of clay? I'm aware that would reduce the quality but in case there's no cornstarch available would it be feasible to use clay or something else?
