Woodturning - Sutured Oak Hollow Form

In this week’s project I’ll take a log of Red Oak and turn it into a hollow form. I left the pith in this piece with the expectation that it would crack as it dried. With my experience Red Oak has a tendency to crack while drying. Once the piece had finished moving, I then went and added some hammered copper wire to add an interesting effect to this piece.

I got some fresh black oak (red oak family) and, while it's beautiful and turns great, it smells awful.

I find my garage smelling like a bbq pit after turning the Oak I usually get. Not necessarily a bad thing!
