You have just finished a nice drum practice session, which you think wasn't too bad and while you feel good about yourself, you sit down and watch this clip of this amazing drummer! Mixed feelings flood your mind! On the one hand, you immediately lose the rush of excitement of your own successful(?) performance, you feel mesmerized as if you know nothing about playing the drums after all! And thinking that you've been playing for longer than she's been alive, doesn't help things much! On the other hand though, you can't help but feel another kind of excitement. The one that comes with recognizing an incredibly talented individual, a skilled performer with an amazing technique, astonishingly powerful sound, fast yet masterfully clean strokes and an engaging groove that you simply can't shake off your mind once this is over! You have just witnessed greatness!
My first time watching and hearing Senri play. Just WOW! Blown away by her phenomenal skill and impeccable timing. Her kit set up is killer and the sound it produces is one of the best I’ve heard! 👊🇨🇦
What I really find addictive about listening to her work is that she moves all around the drum kit, not just for flashy effect but in a manner that is musically pleasing and interesting. Constantly changing things up, again, not just to change them up but to produce moods, dynamic modulation, etc. Very thoughtful, ACCURATE, and dynamic performances, to my ear. One of those standouts in a sea largely of same ole same ole, again, just my opinion and tastes. Arguments welcome, but not encouraged. :-) I do hear a lot of Weckl inspiration and even phrasing and instrumentation choices in her playing, and that is definitely a good thing, as he is another favorite. I wasn't aware that he drummed for Corea (RIP, BIG loss) who I have listened to extensively for MANY years, about fifty, but when I heard him later drumming with other instrumentalists my first reaction is 'I KNOW that drumming'. Those, as I say, are personal standouts. I could easily pick 100 drummers at random out there and probably not audibly recognize more than a few, but then I'm not a drummer, so not a terrifically 'talented' ear in that respect. Just sayin'. The piece I heard later was the Weckl / Oliver / session guys (I think) take on "Higher Ground"... SPECTACULAR, BTW, highly recommended, one of my favorite covers. Energy and talent through the roof, JIC you are interested I'll save you the search: th-cam.com/video/4RS5RsSPssw/w-d-xo.html
I saw her at a small jazz club in Tokyo two years ago. I was sitting less than 20 feet from her. I can attest that she is not that fast.....she's faster.
Her footwork is warp speed, at times, and she does really well for having only eight working limbs, seemingly. :-/ :-) OK, went to your site, often meh when I follow a recommendation like that, and what do I find, a COMMERCIAL (MOV mics)...and it is GENIUS! I had to wipe tears from my eyes. You have a new subscriber, my 'friend' (your call), and I've only watched that one video so far. Can't wait to explore the others. Toilet seat percussion...and it worked. Love finding new good content providers. Guessing any Daniel Thrasher type fan with hit with your content, given my exposure so far. BTW, that makes HIS comment worth about a million times what MINE was. LOL
Came here after finding out she has done many of the drums for Zombieland Saga and even mo-capped for it and wow I am so happy to have found these vids! Absolutely stunning performance!
There are a bunch of drummers (males and females) that are on youtube with millions of viewers and followers...and nobody of them have 1/10 of the talent of this young Japonese... She is just a drum genius...nothing less!
Damn. She has some ooomph behind her tom fills. Her artistic decisions were so enjoyable to hear. Glad she is using a snare for more than just 2&4. Bright future ahead!
Wow! I'm speechless. I'm glad that there's still good fusion music being made and young musicians that are learning about it. Also, heretas for days! :-D
Senri I cant find word to describe Buddy Rich Gene Crupa John Bonham Niel Peart you have them all and they are very proud such a beautiful soul and bless your talent you shoukl be very proud .
Hey I have that same cowbell (jam block). And that’s where the similarities end unfortunately
don't forget the dress
She is one of my favorite drummers i admire her!
Wow....fills my heart knowing the future of music is safe.
... can't wait to see more of her
Senri never ceases to amaze me with her power, dynamics, and incredible hands. She plays the cleanest 6-stroke roll I have ever seen.
Her power is just right, any harder and it works against you.
Unbelievable skill and musicality. The best drummer out there today.

"masterfully clean" - u said it!
That's a bad lady there!! Love it!!!!!!!!!!!
Senri Kawaguchi being Senri Kawaguchi. Beast!
It's frightening how much power she can generate with her frame!
Don't be scared, that is all good technique and what it can do. Power on drums comes from technique not size or strength.
besides she got respectable arms honestly
There's a Drumeo video where she explains how she does it.... Along with practicing a lot, of course.
She holds her sticks wayyy back at the ends almost for one thing
What? Her tiny female Asian frame?
This lady is absolutely mind blowing incredible! Otherworldly!....Bravo....
Without the video I would have thought I was hearing two really good drummers playing together.
Through the whole song she is hitting the snare and Toms right in the middle. So precise. Amazing well optimized movements.
Wow! Those are some chops. Very nicely done. She has got to be one of the best fusion drummers.

This sweet kid is a MONSTER ...drummer. I had goosebumps all the way through.
She's simply the G.O.A.T!
This young lady is incredible I enjoy her playing so much. Unreal chops and dynamics.
Wow..amazing..so crisp, clean..she has her own sound.
Oh man...That was unreal!
brb gotta go melt my splash cymbal
hold on!
Watching this made me immediately want to practice...
It's awesome that this performance had this effect on you :D
me too!
That’s good!
Why? 😂😂😂
Been a fan of her’s for a while now and can say, she never ceases to amaze.
Her cymbals sound impeccable.
Ya,t they really are! She has an excellent musical ear and her ability to choose cymbals is a result of that.
This young lady is so precise and so artistic in her style. Obviously works hard at her craft. She has an amazing future ahead of her.
Well done.
That was insane
@@LAH-oq7vx I am laughing so hard hahahaha 😐 you called him a simp bro that is so funny are you a comedian? 😐

That thing when she alternates right hand between ride and hi-hat looks awesome!
18 people and counting are mad she’s better than they’ll ever be.
My favorite drummer today, period!!
Had to check I wasn't at 1.5x playback speed...
Yooo
Pat Flanigan
Your videos are dope keep up the great work
Crazy right?!

AMAZING MIRACLE
She has such effortless power!
Even when she got slightly hung up under the ride cymbal, it still sounded flawless!
In a word: AMAZING
But other positive adjectives come to mind as well. Super talented, musical, exciting!!
Came here after finding out she has done many of the drums for Zombieland Saga and even mo-capped for it and wow I am so happy to have found these vids! Absolutely stunning performance!
Drumming at its very best. She's mesmerising 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Not genius...just hard work.
@@maxdominate2481 hard work does nothing if the genius isn’t there as well.
Holy crap! And here I was thinking Jazz Fusion was dead! This is as good as it gets! 👏
Gyah DAMN! she killed that shit!
Love Senri and her professional world class mad drumming skills. And I love her band The Jazz Avengers too.
I read somewhere she belongs to the 500 best drummers in the world. Whats that? Nothing! For me she belongs to the 5 best drummers ever seen.
Senri's fusion style and different techniques she does are so nice to watch.... Great video.!
It’s great to to see that the future of fusion is in good hands!
Damn. She has some ooomph behind her tom fills. Her artistic decisions were so enjoyable to hear. Glad she is using a snare for more than just 2&4. Bright future ahead!
A bunch of odd time signatures, she is amazing, what an inspiration
Absolutely amazing playing and WOW ! That kit just sounds amazing, especially the floor toms ❤
演者の良さをダイレクトに伝えてくれる音響機材の良さよ。
omg this kit is sounding AMAZING
Oh my god!!!
These headphones just sucked the air out of my head!!!!
Excellent!!!!
Yes! Senri! Such fluidity in that last fill, wow!
Mind bending and entertaining at the same time.
Wow! I'm speechless. I'm glad that there's still good fusion music being made and young musicians that are learning about it.
Also, heretas for days! :-D
Absolutely killer playing. And the drumset sounds meaty af, kudos to the sound mixer.
Senri is a perfectionist in every aspect. She sets up her own drums, tunes them, and she mics them, too.
Very clear and very hard hit..i was very confidence that ahe can handle even a huge rock band battle..i will bet even my last coin for her🥰🥰🥰
Those toms are so amazing...
i love the sound of that kit!!
That classic fusion sound. Tight snare with some ring, punchy kick, and super dry toms.
Those floor toms sound like thunder.
Her power is just right, not too hard, not too light but just in the sweet spot.
That was insane! So much talent and power.
Absolutely Amazing! Her timing is better than digital.
Nice to see someone crush it without resorting to crazy odd time signatures and "look how fast I am" rudiments all over the kit. Incredible.
these toms sound so good
That snare bloody hell.so good
So wonderful.
bro still amazes me in her skill
I haven't played drums in ages and this just makes me want to go out and buy a kit.
Love the way she stabs the cymbals and the skins. Great punctuation. Teaching the drums who's the boss.
She's amazing and accurate. She reminds me of *Dave Weckl from Chick Corea Electric Band.*
Good observation -- Weckl is one of her drum heroes: facebook.com/photo?fbid=1293773410676587
She's a Real Pro 🖤
