And so we should pay good money for this gold! I used to rent these vids from my local library as a kid because we were poor. But man did I savour these vids and watch over and over again. I feel a bit sorry for kids these days with so much content to scour through, much of which is not great, lots of which is amazing. I’m not sure who had it best really. Hopefully some young players stumble across this gem and watch it over and over 😄
Gregg absolutely smoked on the first 3 David Lee Roth albums! There was no backing band as tight as the Eat 'Em & Smile era with Gregg on drums, Billy Sheehan on bass, Steve Vai on guitar and Brett Tuggle on keyboards. They gave DLR's solo career the kick in the ass it sorely needed!
@@peterjeffery2547 really? Please do tell....you can't just dump like that without dome detail. it's not believable otherwise, because this dude comes off as VERY genuine.
Such a wonderful guy. I was teaching at Richmond Music Center in the 2000s and he did a clinic there. He was warming up in my studio and I talked with him for 30 minutes or so. After the clinic he gave me his bass drum head off the kit, with his face on it, and signed it. Such an awesome guy and drummer. Will never forget.

Gregg had gotten a hair transplant around the time he joined playing with david L. Roth, he (gregg) looks at least 30 years younger and better with the hair! Lucky guy!
I've been wrong for years, now I hafta live with the fact that I never thought of Gregg one way or another. I didn't like the Roth videos back then but now I realize he is an absolute beast. He has wrists like Troy Luccetta from Tesla. 👍🤯
Even at this relatively young age, Greg was a monster player. Interesting to note, the opening solos pieces, at least to my ear, seemed stronly influenced by Copeland and Bozio. I'm not saying anything against Greg. Those were his pieces and composed and executed brilliently. It was just the drummer zygiest of that moment.
@@ciadella1971 Thank you for the kind offer. I uploaded Dave Weckl, Steve Gadd , Gavin Harrison, Joe Morello, Tommy Aldridge, Neil Peart drum instructionals two years ago. Unfortunately they were taken down by their respective publishers.
I used to have Gregg's Book of the same name (I think) that had all of these tunes minus drums along with the charts. I did the latin tune with a live band for one of my college recitals along with another tune called Teenage Immigrant from his first solo record.
Sadly, the hair is among the reasons I didn't give him a second thought back when he was with DLR. Don't let it rob you of this incredible display from one of the most talented musicians out there. It has me re-evaluating my entire 56yrs. Lol
Thank you for posting l these great drum instructional videos! We had to pay $29.99 or more to watch these back in the day!!
Steve Gadd’s second video was $60. Lotta money in the 80’s

That snare drum in that room Gregg is in sounds amazing. Can't get tired of it
you mean, 'the snare'?
@@kidkiqueI think he’s trying to say: ”The snare sounds amazing.”
What a monster. Even back then. I had the pleasure of attending one of his clinics back in the 90’s. So humble, funny and energetic. Oh and a monster.
He’s as fake as they come. Not a nice guy when nothing to gain.

1:12:31 - 1:14:46 priceless words of advise that all musicians need.
First at all I like said the drum kit is so beautiful brings memories back in the 80s when Gregg was playing with Davidleeroth band ❤
When he wasn't drumming, he was wrestling with Robert Gibson as one half of the Rock and Roll Express
I watched this video lots back in the day
Same here.
An amazing drummer with the king of mullets :)

Sorry for the life story. Greg rocks!
This must be remastered, it looks and sounds great!
I remember watching this at Musicians Institute (video library) when it was brand new. It's been 34 years since I've seen this. Still holds up. 💪🏼🥁
I'm looking for the book and audio material of the video.
I had this in VHS...long time ago.
Absolute maestro, had no idea who he was until now..lotta records I didn't know he played on. David Lee Roth Jason Becker, killer stuff.

wow this vintage gem is the best tutorial I have watched
"Play with grove and conviction". Gregg Bissonette.
Met Gregg in Sydney once when he was on a clinic tour, just after he had started playing Mapex. Super nice guy.
So much Tony influence in his beginning solo. Love it!
Nice drumkit with White hardware, Nice playing with Nice blue t-shirt and Nice puppy haircuts. 🐶

👍🤯
amazing sounding kit
That snare drum >>
1:14:14 best advice in the whole video. Right on, Gregg!
The composer quote was from Stravinsky.
Gregg ❤❤❤
Back in the day when his epic hair matched his personality.
Cool! Latin part with the brushes sounds nice :)
Love that Guy 🥢🥁
Oh another classic - loved this VHS
Sweet!
Thank you!
Just awesome! Incredible clean an precise drummer!
Thanks for sharing!
I think Gregg is the one who are play "it must have been love" - Roxette in recording album. The way he executed his snare tell me that he was 🤔
Christ what a legend, never seen this, thanks ❤
Back for the hair and beats🎉

You should upload the Dace Weckl DCI videos. I have them in MP4 format if you need them.

Thank you for uploading ! Would you have Steve Gadd’s ? Cheers
I liked this guy better when he was teaming with Robert Gibson in the rock n roll express
Weird to see him so laid back

killer white powder paint on the Pearl MLX kit.
They were same style, tonation and dynamic 👇🏻

2.Simon Philips

I think Greg is the drummer who played "it must have been love" - Roxette. You hear the snare he executed then you've got what i mean😅
👍👍
Is that a sp1200?
That hair 😅
P
Good drummer , bad teacher
Woman ?
He is a legend. But I just can not take him seriously. Not with that hair. Sorry. Can someone blur it?

I see a Bozio influence here. Super badass!
Thank you!
