This track always summed up the poetic dissonance of Doomguy's existence, to me. The violin strings evoke a sadness at what he is eternally fated to do - and then, the rest feels like him licking his wounds, pulling himself up, and going back into the fray against the hellspawn.
From all DOOM soundtracks, this one is the most emotionally triggering for me. I remember when I was 5 years old, my sister and I sat and played DOOM on our Pentium 586 computer (1995). We were scared to play but kept playing anyway. I remember the DOOM 2 endgame, being acknowledged with honor and respect for saving humanity, seeing all the monsters while hearing this symphony. There will never be another nostalgic experience for me quite like this one.
I never got around to commenting on this til now but whenever I hear the way you end the track, I flash back to the end screen of Doom 64 when he's looking up at the red sky. Instead of red, it's gray and dull and instead of resigning himself to a fate of perpetual torment, a steady rain begins to fall and washes the blood and fatigue away letting him know that it's over...until the next time.
Spoilers on DE Unfortunately, the ending of doom eternal does not feature a remake of doom 2 endgame theme. However, when I saw those credits rolling after a nightmare run you bet I pulled up this song and started blasting it.
@@salt_factory7566 doom eternal's not finished *yet.* There is still more things like DLC or something. One of the endings might have something like this.
Thanks for doing this cover. I loved this song as a kid and only remembered it after watching a documentary about the making of DOOM (and the genius of J. Carmack.)
I found a zandronum doom server running brutal doom plus all your covers for it. and I must say im extremely impressed, ive replayed the mapset several times over the past few days to hear all your soundtrack covers
@@abysswalker2115 Doom doesn't have consistent story as they made plot on-the-go without any grand plan. Doom 2 completes the entire story while Doom 64 says "no" and continues it to the point where Doomguy has to stay in hell which some people use as a link to Doom 2016.
Using this during the credit role scene of my playthrough of Doom Eternal, just a heads up lol! Absolute epic rendition of this song. Will link to your video so long as I remember to use the song :)
Holy fuck this is GREAT. I might use this in a video. If I do I'll give credit in a pinned comment and description. Phenomenal stuff man. This is seriously cool.
Huh, that's odd. I was able to download, extract, and load it up just fine. What kind of error is it throwing out? When you say that the file is "broken" is it saying that when you try and extract it? If that is the case, have you tried updating 7zip? ~DAR
Oh wow, I never knew about the Plutonia MIDI Pack! After giving it a listen, yes, I definitely will have a Marathon for it! Just from what I've heard so far, it sounds like it'd be a lot of fun to cover =)!
Absolutely! Hey, maybe in the future when I finish my Doom game, I'll let you download it. :) I'm trying to develop the best possible doom game I could pull together. Music is a big factor. Thanks again!

This piece of ART, I must label as "The Hour of Ultimate destiny"
3:49 "nice lamp"
For me this is the essence of the DOOM. The MIDI version has solen my 'soul' back then, but this is a masterpiece. Thank you.
I'll listen to this once 2020 is finally over.
I have a feeling 2020 is only the first episode.
Putting this comment in to let everyone know I really did revisit once 2020 finished.
@@pepsiman4909 Well done, I'm still listening to this until the pandemic ends so I could finally rest easy.

I was on the fence until 2:25. Nice.
This feels like the battle is won but a war comes next
Best cover yet
I swear to God if the end of Doom eternal doesn't have something like this as it's ending theme. I'm gonna riot
Same.
But no need for riot, maybe they add it into another of their "must-have" dlcs.

Best cover of the song. Fully realizes the feel of beating back the forces of Hell once and for all.

This is awesome. The marathon was awesome. You're awesome, dude. Fantastic work!
It's about fuckin' time somebody covered this song. Thank you!!! :) \m/
Why do people tend to avoid doing a cover of this song with real instruments?
Probably because it may seem kinda monotonous, or I dunno
