I used to fall asleep to this tune on my old beat up gameboy (no, not even color, I'm talking about the huge grey ones from like god knows when) I would just surf into the middle of a lake and let it play on and on and on....aaah good times... Still my favorite theme ever!

To me, this song's so calm and relaxing, it makes Werster want to scream as loud as he can because he can't find a Poliwag. Other than that, it's a song I'll love forever, alongside the Diamond/Pearl/Platinum surfing theme.

i first played this game in like 2019 on my 3ds. i hadn't even played hgss at that point (i'm a gen 5 boi) and i just... cannot describe the feeling of true happiness this song gives me. this is one of the only pokemon songs i could listen to the 10 hour version and never get bored, even with the game boy's high-pitched sounds
I respect you gen 5 boys. Great to see someone picking up gen 2 for the first time and loving it. It's more of an RPG then any other pokemon game.

Reminds me of when I caught a Tentacool as a kid, and used it as my main Pokemon ad evolving him. I cleared the entire Elite 4 with only my Tentacruel. Ah, memories. Ever since then Tentacool and Tentacruel have been two of my favourite Pokemon. =]

Lugia was such a bitch to find and capture. Kind of makes me glad though, as it's 1000x more memorable than the newest legendaries that literally crawl to the pokeball for you.
Same with Ho-Ohs bell tower puzzle, I loved when it used to be challenging to get to the legendaries, now it’s literally just feeding them to you
Bro I recently played through silver and catching Lugia was so incredibly hard, I had reset 8 times to get it because after throwing the 80 ultra balls, making it asleep, and having it at very low hp, it would always get out at 1 wiggle

Most of the time I would only hear the first several seconds. But sometimes I would use Repels or let the game sit there running, and those were the occasional times I was treated to the whole thing. Still hits different listening through all the way tho

Brings back memories.... this was my very first pokemon game back when I was a novice and even tentacools were new and interesting to me. Short-lived days.....

They really screwed up 0:26-0:28 in the remake. It sounds like they outright hit the wrong notes.
The remake broke many melodies of the original game :(, luck was the GB player and to enjoy the original songs.

im playing crystal on my 3DS and i would just battle all the tentacools, tentacruels and mantines for XP, and at one point i couldn’t find any encounters and while listening to this searching for pokémon’s to battle i ended up enjoying the OST. long live gen 2.

Just found out that Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal was meant to be the last additions in the series. No wonder why it sounds so emotional and heartwarming at the same time.
Sometime I wish that was the case considering the current state of the franchise.

I got into pokemon about two years ago. I borrowed my aunts gbc to play super mario land (picked it up at a flea market, but i was to stupid to realize the ds is only compatible with gba games). Some guy in my class just got a gb pocket from his dad and was playing pokemon yellow, so i tried, too, out of curiousity (i hated pokemon before because of the ?'?%#& tcg which i hated and still hate passionately). It was soooo awesome! I loved it! But then he wanted it back, of course, but i wasn't even at the 4th gym. So i went to the vg store near my school, but they "only" had pokemon crystal. It's probably the game i had the most fun playing. After that, i became a huge fan and played all the games (except for gen 2, 5, 6 countless times, watched the anime (some of it ;D) etc... But after the huge disappointment that was gen 6, i started caring less and less about pokemon and instead turned to zelda. But recently, i went to a retro store where i was looking for final fantasy vii, but the didn't have it, so i turned to the nintendo section. They didn't have any interesting nes and n64 games, and i couldn't afford oracle of seasons, but then i saw they had pokemon gold! I bought it, but i didn't care much, though. The battery was dead, so it was lying around a few days before i fixed it. But 4 days i started playing it on my super gb, and so much came back to me, especially catching the red gyarados at the lake of rage and i was freaking out because it was shiny, not caring that it was scripted. Now i'm back into pokemon, and it's really cool to experience all this again! This ingenious piece of music, as all gsc titles, is kind of nostalgic for me, and i adore it so much! (Sorry but that just HAD TO BE written down)

Everything after the fourth generation is pretty dissapointing, it has to be said.
Σxitium totally. I was sooo excited when gen 6 was announced, and it really was pretty cool-at first. But after i beat the pokemon league, i was pretty disappointed when i realized that there was NOTHING more to do. I had no interest in getting all the mega stones. It's so cheap. The only thing to do is catch the "roamer" (yeah, why keep something fun and refreshing like looking for roamers? -.-), mewtwo and collect the mega stones. Gen 1 had its limitations, but it was still awesome. Gen 6 could be the ultimate gen, but with all the hardware's power, they produced an empty shell that resembled a pokemon game. But everyone likes it because it is 3D!!!!!!!!!!! -.-. Oras are just a tiny bit better because they originate from the weird yet great gba games, but rhey tried too hard to make them appeal to minors (YOU CAN CATCH DEOXYS!! OMG!! SO MANY LEGENDARIES!! PROTO FORMS AND MEGA RAYQUAZA!) by basically throwing in some useless shit nobody needs. Also, what's mauville city ever done to the developers that they hate it so much?? Wether gen 5 is bad or not is up to debate, because from an objective point of view, they are brilliant. But they made some decision i don't quite agree with, so i personally don't like them very much

I agree, they added so many pointless additions (Mega evolutions, why?).
Though, what really turned me down from the game was Generation 5,
this was the only time I played a PM game and turned it off after 10 minutes and never played it again. I stopped playing them for a while until I
started crystal a few weeks ago and had an absolute blast.
Long story short, I have no idea what they did in G5, but they ruined everything.

Gen 2 and 4 are by far my least favorite generations, but my god this surf theme is magical AF, like this is TOO good, it is absolute overkill
