George Enescu (19 August 1881 - 4 May 1955), known in France as Georges Enesco, was a Roumanian / Rumanian musician. Enescu is regarded as one of the greatest musicians in Roumanian / Rumanian history; he was a composer, violinist, pianist, conductor, and teacher.

Dad often played the rhapsodies [scratchy old 78s] so I expected Enesu's music to reflect Romanian folk music [which is absolutely luscious!] but he has all the tools of modern classical expressiveness. This is a revelation.
