The way Makoto mentally fortifies, readying herself to battle Ryu is actually my favourite. The deep breaths, the prolonged gaze, and the battle cry at the end prepared to strike!

I can't get over how Ken offers Akuma a fist bump.
He does the same with Chun Li and Sean. Is not a fist bump, just a gesture of ''come on!" and when he does that he says ''Alright! This should be interesting!

I like how Makoto mentally prepares herself in front of Ryu and Ken. She prepares a bit because that's _Ken Masters,_ US martial arts pro, but then she has an entire epiphany in front of Ryu because he's basically martial arts Jesus.

@@ErickDAces I actually wish they kept that canon. Seeing Ryu discover he had biological family that also took up martial arts would've been an awesome moment for some further development for Ryu.
Those are living legends to her. It makes total in character sense for her to psych herself up to give them her absolute best.
I wish Urien had unique intros with Twelve or Gill, but SF6 really should bring these back

I love the Brofist Bump between Ryu and Ken, the cross kicks that Ibuki and Makoto trade as well as the Alex and Hugo intro being a reference to Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant. I think Gill’s should’ve got shown even if it’s the same for every character, nothing beats _“The Mark of my Dignity shall scar thy DNA”_
Gill's intro is cool. The secretary is beautiful

Remy has always been an interesting SF character for me, he looks more like the typical KoF pretty boy without losing the Capcom feel. Most of the dudes in the series are always so jacked up, it's refreshing to have a skinny dude for once.

I think that was his entire concept. He was meant to resemble KOF characters like Iori and Kyo.

I can't agree to that, but I also can't disagree. Parts of it feel dated while some parts feel timeless. Maybe it's the fact I'm older, or maybe it's because standards have changed.
All street fighter games aged well, but third strike is a masterpiece

1:39 What really gets me about this one is that it's legitimately styled like a karate tournament. Both combatants show respect to the judges, then to each other, then get into stance.
Makes sense, given the only stage this can happen on is Makoto's.

They still do, many of these newer games give every matchup a unique quote, I love that the genre has evolved in that degree.
But yes, special intro animations entirely would be a welcomed return as well.

I love that they made 3 different types of intros for the citizens running away from Q, attacking, jumping in and walking. It's like you stood up to fight Jason Voorhees to put and end to the madness, this guy is such a mystery I love it.

Man I never played much of Street Fighter 3, but it always blows my mind how good those animations are.

Elena's animations are smooth to the point where they look roto-scoped! Insane sprite work!

It is rotoscoped. The weird thing is they put all that effort in but if you look at her idle animation they didn’t animate her head; it’s just a still image that floats around near her neck.
@@jk844100 because it would be awkward if she was the only one who had so many animation details devoted to her, she wouldn't fit in with the cast anymore. Drawing someone turning their head from profile to 3/4 angle is waaay more than what is necessary for a 2-d fighter where you're only gonna see that frame for half a second anyway. The rotoscoped effect I bet is to have the player pay attention to her legs.
@@MKG176 but they didn’t even do anything small like make her Blink. Chun blinks her idle and her hair bun tassel things move. Ken and Ryu have their hair move and their clothes ripple.
There’s tonnes of tiny animation details on every character. And then you see Elana’s head and it’s just a floating .png

God I miss Special Intros. We just don't get 'em anymore.
I'd never seen the Sean/Elena ones...probably because nobody plays Sean and even fewer play Elena.
I don't think those are exclusive to Sean and Elena since I've had the basket ball hit Dudley on his opening. I think it happens if you're losing against Sean
Elena gets plenty of people playing her, in 3S and USF4.
It's Sean that hardly ever gets played, along with Twelve.
I'm a Sean main and it's fun playing Sean. Hope he comes back in SF6.
