Carol, I watch a TON of online jewelry tutorials and I want you to know that - in my opinion - you are an EXCELLENT teacher and I prefer your tutorials over everyone else. Regarding the smaller bead in the center instead of a larger bead, I think it makes a nice variation. Particularly when both styles are used in one piece. It's visually interesting.

Really useful tut on constructing a necklace with bead components and jump rings. I suppose you could use a bit of chain here and there, though the jump rings give it a more polished look, AND looks absolutely fab with the matching earrings.
Thank you. I use this technique for making necklaces all the time. In fact, it's way more common for me to make one this way than to string a necklace or use a chain. It makes designing very easy and versatile.

What size jump rings did you use ?

I have a tool question... my round nose pliers is a 1mm tip. I'm having some difficulty getting my spirals really tight. Is there another smaller pliers you can recommend? I was dismayed to find that manufacturer's can list their pliers as having a .5mm tip diameter when in fact they are .9mm!😍 (PS: still dealing with my AJS addiction! LOL!)
Great question, Marcelle. Are you making spirals or are you talking about loops? Do you mean you can't close the loop?
It doesn't really matter what size the tip of the pliers are, it's about where you position the wire on the pliers, unless you are wanting to make very tiny loops. You could try bail making pliers like these ones. What is the wire gauge you are using?
20 Gauge German Style Half Hard Wire.
Could you do a video on the different kinds of wire and explain the different uses? I’m not sure what half hard wire is and if you have to use certain tools with it.
Hi Susan, it's on my list of things to do soon (so many ideas!) but it could be a while. Half hard wire is a wire that's not too soft and not too hard. For example, of you used dead soft wire, it's very flexible and easy to mold. Lots of wire wrapping artists use dead soft wire. Hard wire is often made from stainless steel. Memory wire is a hard wire and it holds its shape. I don't know many people who use hard wire to make loops, etc as it's quite hard to manipulate. Half hard wire is in the middle. It is generally used for making loops and components. I hope that helps.
Ironically, the needle nose chain pliers I purchased in the jewelry section craft stores have the ridges and not smooth.
Oh no! That’s no good at all. They should know better. I fell into that trap when I first started too. Can you return them?
@@The_Stylish_Maker No. one was part of a set. The other purchased separately and they’ve been used. One other issue I’ve had is that the flush wire cutters seem to lose their cutting edge after a few uses. I’ve resorted to using scissors. Another person mentioned the same issue in a comment. Is there a way to sharpen them, or is there a better brand to purchase.
I'm actually not sure if you can sharpen flush cutters but I would assume they are like any scissors or knives and you do it the same way. I had to learn the hard way that you need to spend a little bit more on flush cutters. The Xuron flush cutters are very good. amzn.to/47tc5DF If you're using hard wire, you are better to use memory wire cutters so that you don't blunt your pliers. amzn.to/3RTAufP. I hope that helps.
