Journalists get that treatment on every story worth publishing. And that it is such shock and drama reveals how often they pursue a story worth publishing.
You'd look away too. It's called bystander syndrome. It's not you (or your loved ones), so it's not a problem. And all the more so, since taking action would make your own religion look bad.
@@michaelsong5555 wouldn't care what religion, family, or what kind of power is going on. If a kid is in danger I will do what I can to help and expose the predator so they could either be shanked in jail or they would have to knock door to door and tell them they are pedos.
@@foxhound13 Well, I don't know about you, but most people won't. That's why things like this happen. People simply don't care enough to go out of their way and take actions (key word being "enough").
@@michaelsong5555 I agree with you that most people wouldn't do anything (that's why this went on for so long) but I don't think it's about not caring. Say an assistant DA wanted to prosecute these priests. They'd be going up against their boss (the DA), the church, as well as their friends and neighbors.Their efforts would go nowhere, and just for trying they could lose their career and maybe even have to leave Boston to start over. The risks were too great and the chance of making a difference was too low. Easier just to let it go.
@@sueprice3315 Hence why I said, "key word being 'enough'". People care, sure. But not enough to take action, because of the consequences that you mentioned. Garabedian cared enough to take action.

for anyone who doesn't know what really happened being from Boston the priest father Gagnon was killed in prison by another inmate in his cell
Paul Collins good thank for that
He deserved it and I hope he truly felt the pain. I hope each second felt like an hour in that moment for him.
Paul Collins harsh to say but JUSTICE
Best news I've heard all day
Every pedophile deserves death punishment.
A few bad apples isn't bad, its burying them deep in other baskets what makes it a problem
But the issue was that if it's not your problem, then it's not a problem.
Everyone forgets what the actual saying is.
"A few bad apples can spoil the whole bunch."
@@jeffreymeehan3116 Exactly, everyone is always using the first part to defend groups that abuse their power without mentioning of the 2nd part.
It ended up being 10.7% bad apples by the end of the investigation.
Yep, that's exactly how it continues! You better show that film in every parliament, every city hall and actually every supermarket on the planet.
Michael Keaton performance is amazing and will win an academy award
No nominate. But Ruffalo will win.
No one was right
+619taken Mark Rylance would be the winner
Let's agree they all deserved it. That was one strong year in the actors' categories! Besides, as I see it Keaton played the leading role.

“We can’t throw out all the goodies over a few bad apples”.
Such a cop out to excuse the fact the whole barrel has been knowingly being contaminated.

How can anyone look the other way? no amount of money could ever make me look the other way.

0:20 the church needs the people NOT the other way around. God does not need the church.
God needs the people to create the god and build the church. God doesn't exist without those willing to imagine him/her.
Incredible movie
how can you look the other way? disgusting.
