I don't know what y'all on about. The icing solidified perfectly. Don't do them on hot cookies and have some patience. For me they are indeed a bit too sweet but my family liked it. Try to add more sugar if it's too runny and vice versa. Thank you and have amazing holidays!
@@healthhollow7218 just make royal icing it’s not that hard. I did it yesterday for the first time and it took me 20 minutes to make max and I had the egg whites on a super low speed for the start
Been making sugar cookies this way for decades. It’s not messy at all, just soft. After they sit for a day they are stackable , tastes much better and you don’t crack a tooth on them.
The sugar makes it harden no problem. Try it without the egg and you will be surprised. I do think the egg adds some body to the icing and makes it setup faster, but is not essential for a durable hardened icing.
I hate Royal icing on cookies, but I wonder if adding “some” meringue power would be ok where the cookie icing isn’t so hard that you break a tooth, but hard enough to be stackable .
I'm going to make this and then come back to comment if it hardens since that seems to be the looming question nobody will answer 👀👀 EDIT: Did not harden. Was very soft and messy. I froze the extras on the sheet pan and then stacked in a ziplock and will just pull them out as needed since I couldn't store them stacked.
This is not a good recipe if you want it to really harden, and the taste is more like very sweet dust. As a very experienced cake decorator I would never use this for anything important. Maybe for kids to decorate cookies it would be fine.

I put some almond extract in mine felt it cut the sweetness a lil bit 😊
I made this icing for my cookies and it turned out great
The icing is very sweet and and was rough to mix but it worked like a charm.
Also I used 1 and 1/2 tbsps of milk

Use two tablespoons of milk instead of one, it’ll be a lot smoother and easy to work with
