David Valenzuela I think you're mistaken with the 1987 I have an 86 and an 87 Chevy pickup and they look absolutely nothing like that.
My guess is they started airing the new truck ads in 1987 for the 1988 model year. Vehicle manufacturers always introduce the next years model before that year comes around.

GM needs to get back to their roots and make the toughest longest lasting most dependable truck on the road that doesn't look like a shitty Toyota (sorry Toyota fans).
The massive number of this generation of Chevy truck still on the road speaks for itself. No other manufacturer has nearly as many of their older trucks still out there.

@@pr9039 Right but Toyota only made small trucks in the 80's and 90's... not until the Tundra was launched in 2000 did Toyota try to compete with GM, Ford, and Dodge in the full-size truck market. Anyway it was funny how both Toyota and Nissan had their names stamped on the tailgates of their 80's trucks... sometimes it would be hard to tell (looking from far away) whether you were looking at a TOYOTA or NISSAN truck when far behind one!
