The Playtape Cartridge was a 2 track player which didn't quite make it in the tech world but I remember a sleep over I had with a couple of friends camping back then when we were 11 or 12 and they had a player and some tapes.
Thanks for the info! I was thinking it was a kind of tape used in old TV stations before everything went digital. You know footage of TV stations or radio where they shove the cartridge into the player like an 8 track tape.
Scott my dad worked on murder on flight 502 , how funny I was 11 got to go to work with pop all the time ,I got everybody’s autograph that was ever on The love boat 🚣♂️, he was a dolly grip. . So funny. Hey I really enjoy your channel, you and Jordan-the coolest!!!

Love all the unboxing too! Such great things!! Glad you have the address up, I am always looking for something great to send you! ;) Love all the videos you do, I too!
The Marilyn in the Hollywood Wax Museum pamphlet, I thought it was Phyllis Diller at first! But, I can see Bea Benaderet as well. I went there once over 20 years ago. It was so campy! Lol...
Oh man! Playtape! I forgot all about those! We had a few floating around my basement with a player when I was a kid in the 70’s. It was old then so I’m guessing it’s technology from the 60’s. I remember it was like a shorter version of a 8 track cassette, maybe 20-30 minutes of audio time, and I remember you couldn’t fast forward or rewind it and the tape itself would unwind itself very easily out of the cartridge so you’d have to sit there and hand feed it back in. I think it died out quickly because of the fact that it did have such a short amount of audio time, or because it just flat out sucked. Thanks for the memories!😂
Trivia: Hamburger Hamlet was Sharon Tate’s favorite restaurants… Sharon liked the Delores Diner, Hamburger Hamlet and El Coyote. El Coyote became famous for a dish they served for one month out of the year. "Blue Corn Tortillas" and yes, the corn is actually blue. Sharon loved that dish!
Fantastic video! 💗 I could not sit through "Murder on flight 502" It is that bad... Haunted last supper? 😆😂 A YES for laugh-In video! 💗 And reading through the vintage TV guides and other magazines! Funny, my late fiance Dannie Jo was crazy over Green Goddess dressing! She just passed 3-26-23. She had me looking for it everywhere!! So cool you brought it up as I never heard of it before my beautiful lady told me of it.
I saw Johnny Cash in Scranton, PA the Saturday after he appeared on Saturday Night Live. I was just a few rows back and got his piano player’s attention by sticking my finger in my cheek like Johnny had done on the show. (Tim Kazurinski played young Johnny, who would stick his finger in his cheek and twist it around. His off-screen “mom” yelled at him, saying he’ll make a hole in his face. Cut to adult Johnny, still sticking his finger in there, leaving that big dimple he had.) Anyway, the piano player whispered to Johnny, then Johnny did it, too! 😎
Glad I could catch this show. Neat little history about the Spoon, my former mother ship. Still miss it. I may send you my match collection. I was wondering who was operating the camera. Hope you guys are well, healthy and safe. Thanks for posting.
This was so interesting and fun. To have a piece of the Lombard plane, wow, you've got some good friends out there! Your "is that racist?" makes me cackle every time!
My uncle was a big audiophile, collecting all the newest gadgets and being the family show-off. He had this PlayTape system in the 1960s. It was a 2 track player that never quite caught on. Kind of like Betamax. We kids used to play Valley of the Dolls soundtrack and think we were being quite scandalous.
carole Lombards childhood house is located in Fort Wayne Indiana my hometown. It is a historical site and kept in perfect condition. A bridge is also named in her memory
The shoe at the museum in Seattle was never owned by Robert Wadlow. I sent a photo to your friend Steve Cox and he confirmed it's simply a large shoe sent out as a prop to shoe stores.
I’d never seen that play tape player either. I was so intrigued by it that I went out and Bid on a play tape player on eBay while I was enjoying your video.
Good luck! Let me know how it works out! We have BAD luck with cool electronics. I'm sitting on 3 reel to reels and two 2 8-tracks that only make good doorstops.
Holy crap. That voice from the record gave me flashbacks. My Jesus freak mother had the religious programs on every TV in the house on Sunday morning as we got ready for church. Falwell, Humbard, Swaggart, Bakker. Now I’m going to have nightmares. 😂😂😂😂😂
"Playtapes" were a short-lived item from the late 60s. l had a few Beatles tapes, 4 songs on each. You needed the player too; l forgot what it was called.
Do you have a Pink Pussycat (Hollywood) matchbook in your collection, if not would you like one? I love the history of how the Rat Pack started going there.
Loved the video. The record of Where are the dead is something so weird but interesting. I discovered your channel by watching Jordan’s videos and I just love it. Please film more “unboxing or unenveloping” as they are like a box of chocolates.... Kind regards from Belgium.
Didn't Jordan the lion do a tour of the saloon and the crash site of Carole Lombard, they think her spirit haunts the saloon.. maybe it was a different blogger..
My uncle had one in the late 60s. Into the 70s my cousins and I used it because it was obsolete and he had moved on to the massive console stereo with 8 trac player by then. Idk where he got it, but it was marketed to consumers and was a fail.
I was not insulted, thanks for the mention! Gary

So cool to see the new stuff. I enjoy these Vlogs so much.
I love all this stuff. I used to collect match books and wish I never traded them as a teen.
Wonderful artifacts...The Carole Lombard images of the crash are fascinating!

Looks like Carole Lombard is wearing the red stone brooch in her photo. How sad.
Great collection of goodies! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks Scott
Very cool very interesting thanks for sharing👍
How about something on Linda Darnell's untimely death in a fire in 1964. Love this channel !!!!!!!!
Always a joy watching your videos! Thank you. O
When they stopped making t.v guides my mother ABSOLUTELY lost her sh@t. Amazing how its like a time capsule now.
I miss TV Guide. Of course, there's no good TV on now anyway.

I've learned to appreciate Johnny Cash over the years. I've always liked old school outlaw type CW
The wreck ?! 😲 oh wow ! You have to do a video about this!
That Johnny Cash thing is AWESOME
Cool stuff

Yes!!
Tommy Cash was the younger brother of Johnny. He is a Country singer as well.

That Snack Bar Confidential magazine was expensive in 1967. $2.95 or was that a yearly subscription?
Love my Jordan the Lion
I bet "Techmoan" has the machine to play that Playtape!
Scott, I'm a big fan. Would you consider doing a podcast of the original Planet of the Apes? Thank you!
Oooo I would love that! Great idea!
The Hollywood magazine resembles a Wheaties box.
I had a portable Playtape cassette player..!

If you mean the Pussycat Theater, I'm good. I did shoot some video there recently with the matchbook I own. Or do you mean in Vegas?
You have a great voice. You should look into voice over work.
I see you got the hand modeling job
Also I dated a magenta in Boston Rocky horror picture show but I went to quite often in my youth out of Harvard square

Did you end up talking to that guy who knew jay Sebring?
Hey Scott, how about Tom Pettys grave? Jordan had promised it, but didn’t do it.
I used to be subscribed to Jordan, until he didn't acknowledge Shelley Winters on her 100th birthday. Shame on him. He was supposed to be her friend.
