Country Music Association awards are still given out at the annual CMA Awards, in several categories (Male Vocalist of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, Duo/Group, Entertainer of the Year, etc.), usually telecast in October or November of each year. They switched in 1983 from the wooden bullet-shaped ones, like what you have, to awards made of crystal, in a similar bullet shape. Usually they have the winner's name, category and date inscribed on them, and so if the one you have is blank, it was probably a surplus award, perhaps one that was left over when they phased out of the wooden ones in '82. The award Loretta is holding in the photo would have been for when she won Entertainer of the Year in 1972 (she was the first woman to win in this category).

There used to be a second Ernest Tubb Record store, but I don't know if it's still there. I took my dad there decades ago, and he spent over $300. He never dreamed he could find music by people he listened to in the 40s and 50s along with karaoke records.
I just love it every time Scott opens a box and there are packing peanuts in it. Love his disgusted reactions. ;p
Being from st louis I remember the Varsity Theatre. It was in the Delmar loop they called it across from Blueberry Hill where the song I found my thrill on Blueberry Hill.....was created. They played Rocky Horror every weekend and the audience participated by throwing fruit. Dinging whatever.

Scott, you are absolutely right about terrible wigs! I see tons of them on TV too, and all of the time too. I don’t understand it. It’s 2022, you’d think they could do much better now. Drives me nuts. Once I spit one it is hard to take my eyes off of it. Way too distracting. Oy. 😬

me too. I met Steve at my sister in laws wedding as she and her hubby worked there. Steve was full on, I thought he put on an act for the camera but not true. My brother in law still works there. Bindi was just a baby back then. A strange way to die but I thought a Croc would get him one day. It was a sad day.
@@DonzLockz So cool you got to meet him. He always came across on TV as so real and not an act...and bless Terry, still in such grief for Steve. Bindi looks like her mom and Robert is the spit of Steve. Steve would have been a fantastic grandpa! Funny though, what you said, I am the opposite, I never feared the crocs... I always knew it would be something unexpected....and it was.... a gentle stingray.

So, I admit that I should have known this, however, I clearly did not. Today I learned that Hank Williams was only 29 years old when he passed away. Because of the fact that he had accomplished so much and he created such an immense catalog of music, I thought he was much older than 29. Despite that I absolutely love his music, I just hadn't done a lot of research on him in that capacity. It's truly tragic and it was a huge loss for country music... Hell, it was a loss for all genres of music, because he was absolutely that influential. I've heard musicians from rappers to rock stars talk about how they listened to his records and as their careers started to take off, they would try to always include little bits of what they learned from Hank into their music. His life story is fairly sad, especially considering the fact he became such an alcoholic that he essentially drank himself to death (I realize that he had heart failure, but I don't think it's far-fetched to admit that he drank so much alcohol that it impacted his organs pretty badly). Thankfully his legacy lives on, especially through his son Hank Williams jr, who has had a very successful career in music himself. Anyway, thanks for sharing all of these awesome gifts that people have sent to you, Scott. I'm not sure if it's in the cards for you to reopen your museum/store, but if you do I would absolutely love to make it down and be one of the first to go through and see all of this memorabilia firsthand. 🙏 Thank you again!
