I am 71 years old. I did Saint Mary Falls AND Virginia Falls. 4 + miles. VERY worth it! I went with my son, his wife, and NINE children! They all did the hikes too (home schooled, too)!
I visited in the 1980s and was told by the year 2000 all the glaciers would be gone. Glad I get to go back this and see glaciers that were supposed to be gone 22 years ago!
I've spent well over 100 nights in the park and I can't wait to go back. Just waiting on my youngest son to start walking. If I may, here are a few suggestions.... Check out the Two Medicine campground on the east side. Best campground in the park (imho). There is a very short hike to Running Eagle Falls where the water pours out of the mountain ('out' of it.. not 'over' it... very cool). While you're there, you may as well check out Scenic Point and do the hike around Two Medicine Lake and catch a view of the various other waterfalls. If you are heading there from the Midwest, take the shortcut through Kiowa and up the Looking Glass Road. It will save you a couple hours of drive time while providing fantastic scenery. Make sure to stop in and see the lobby of the East Glacier Lodge (and/or any of the other lodges). Book a rafting trip on the middle fork of the Flathead out of West Glacier and spend a few nights in the West Glacier campground. Park at the Many Glacier Lodge and take the red bus to Logan Pass. Then, hike the Highline to back to Many Glacier and reward yourselves with a night or two at the lodge. I could go on... and on.... and on.... I wish I were going in September. Regardless of how you spend your time, I can assure you the park will not disappoint!!! Have fun!!!!!!
I LOVE Glacier... We were supposed to go in August, but with Covid that's probably not going to happen (we're Canadian). My top 10 is a bit different from yours though... 10. Trail of the Cedars... A quirk of the climate has established a grove of towering cedars tucked between the mountains on Glacier's west side. 9. Baring, St. Mary, and Virginia Falls... Three rushing waterfalls at the head of St. Mary Lake. 8. Lake Mcdonald Lodge... A more quaint than grand national park lodge, it's still a lovely place to sit for a quiet evening, have dinner, and walk the shore of Lake Mcdonald. Boat tours of the lake also depart from here. 7. St. Mary Lake/Wild Goose Island Viewpoint... If you're coming into Glacier from the east, this will be your first major sight in Glacier, and it's postcard perfect. 6. Waterton Lakes National Park... Glacier is connected to a beautiful national park here in Canada that is worth visiting if you're coming to Glacier. Its main sights are Upper Waterton Lake, the Prince of Wales Hotel, Red Rock Canyon, the hike to Crypt Lake, and Cameron Lake (the far shore of Cameron Lake is in the US). 5. The Highline Trail... For all the reasons you guys said. It parallels the Going to the Sun Road, giving you more time to appreciate the same scenery. 4. The White Busses (that are actually red)... These vintage 1936 touring busses patrol the park's roads and are one of the park's icons. You can take a tour aboard them or just take pictures. Either way, I love seeing them. 3. Many Glacier Hotel... A grand, picturesque national park lodge with a view to the amazing scenery of Swiftcurrent Lake and the Many Glaciers region. 2. Hidden Lake... The boardwalk begins behind the Logan Pass visitor centre, takes you up through alpine meadows to the most stunning lake in the world. It's easily accessible for most ages and fitness levels too. 1. Going to the Sun Road... The quintessential, must-do Glacier experience. If you have no time to do anything else, at least drive this. I don't have Grinnell Glacier, Iceberg Lake, or Ptarmigan Tunnel here because I haven't actually had a chance to do them, but I hope to some day.

I just stumbled upon your video. Just beautiful, the shots and your locations. We are going in September for the first time. I have some of the same locations planned out too. Went to school in Missoula. Graduated in 1998 and have been to Glacier many times. To this day, it still calls to my wife and I. We try to get out there every 2-3 years. Now when we go, we have our kids with us and it's my favorite thing to see the wonder in their eyes being in such beauty (we live on the East Coast and nothing comes close to these mountains).
must be nice to be wealthy. videos like these are always proof on the uncaring and greed of many people . many people will never see this place due to the wealthy greedy people not caring about the other side of life. it hard to understand how certain people can enjoy their easy life while certain others suffer in poverty.

Outstanding video! I live in Montana and I love taking my family to visit the park. They all plan on moving here because it is such a great state...until I tell them about the winter! If you can get past winter this is truly the last great place to live. Montana has low taxes, spectacular scenery, affordable housing and great people. As more people telecommute to work I think the population will increase. Then again, there's still that Montana winter to deal with!

I've not seen a Rocky Mtn. bighorn, nor Alaska's Dall sheep. But, back in '84 on the Icefields Pkwy. between Jasper and Banff in Canada, I saw Stone sheep, and in June, I saw Desert Bighorn in Colorado Nat'l. Mon.
Indeed, National Parks host the best. But compared to the rest, they protect such a small part of the US. And they are starving for $$$ for maintenance and facilities. Write your Congressional Reps, tell them to fund the Parks for all their needs. Also, to listen to the tribes whose land was stolen for the parks.

I took a train across the United States and I booked the timing so I could go through glacier national Park and see whatever I can see from the train. There was a 6-hour delay I went through there in a pitch black of night I was so unhappy I missed it all

I'd do both... Glacier is about 300 miles from Yellowstone. If you're only going to be in the area once, try both. But if you have to choose, Glacier is better for amazing mountain scenery, and gives you the chance to cross over to Waterton Lakes National Park in Canada. Yellowstone is better for wildlife and unique geological features. Both have amazing lodges. Yellowstone has the historical cachet of being the first National Park.
It's a tough call, but like Cory says below, if you can do both then try to do that. Each park is special in its own way and both are worth visiting if you can.
Hi guys Fantastastic video. Im planning a visit September 2020. I tried June 2018 going the sun road was still closed from winter. Last year in September 2019 a big blizzard blew in and closed the park. So, wish me luck. Also, when I'm not backpacking, I sleep in my suv. Where would you recommend staying like that in the park. Also planning about 7 days in the park, hope to do at least 5 hikes. Im up for the tough ones. What five is your best. Thanks
Hi John 👋 That's such a bummer that Going-to-the-Sun was closed in 2018 and that you didn't get to go in 2019. Please be careful while you're out there. It's bear country! Bring a bear canister to store your food and bear spray. A 650 lbs grizzly bear recently charged unsuspected hikers so stay vigilant. On the east side of Glacier National Park, the Many Glacier Campground is surrounded by day hikes, wildlife, and mountain attractions. It's next to the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn-a combination gift shop, restaurant, and lodging option-nearly half of the 109 sites at the campground are available for advance reservation throughout the summer. The other half of the campsites are available on a walk-up basis, and hopeful campers should arrive early to nab a spot during the peak season. Many Glacier Campground sites cater to tent camping and camper vehicles, and a few accommodate RVs over 21 feet. Numerous best hiking trails in Glacier stem from the Many Glacier Campground, including routes to iconic spots like Grinnell Glacier and Iceberg Lake. Let us know if you any other questions! Have you ever summited a mountain in Glacier? I mean you summited a mountain in Denali NP so I wouldn't be surprised if have or plan on summiting a mountain there. Glacier NP is probably the national park that I want to visit the most but unfortunately I'm on the other side of the U.S. It looks so fun and has everything I ever wanted in a national park.
LadyT-777, this whole video is about 1 park--Glacier, which is on the Canadian border in Montana, and one of 3 that's shared with Canada. Here, it's Waterton Lakes in British Columbia; #2 is Alaska's Wrangell-St. Elias and Canada's Kluane (clue-AH-knee) in Yukon, and #3, though not a national park, is the International Peace Garden--half in N. Dakota and half in Manitoba.
Great video. But please understand its the natural possession of the glaciers to melt and eventually disappear . Glacier park was formed by huge glaciers. We are looking at the very tailed of the last ice age. Its not global warming. Its the natural possess of time. . That was a very cool blond bear. Never saw that one in glacier. Yall need to drive the road while you still can. They have every intention of closing it to traffic. Only shuttles and bikes will travel that road. 5 years is my prediction. They did it in Yosemite and the Grand Canyon. Now the shuttles are free. Do you want to sit next to some old guy like me and have to listen to whatever.... not me. I want my own time to experience the road in my own way. I go out there to escape the daily grind of life. Part of that is dealing with people. On the road it s just me my ride and God. The road really is stunning. Do it. On a motorcycle is the best.

Very disappointed that this video includes several sections of footage of places that are NOT Glacier. I recognized Banff for sure, but also shots of Glaciers that are way bigger than what are in the Park. Glacier has enough to recommend it for what it is. Why would you put filler in of other places in this video? Shame on you.
I've been to Glacier five times, and Banff twice. Every scene these guys filmed and included in this list looked like Glacier to me. At 00:18, and again at 09:33, I don't know where that is, expect Canada again, but that glacier is larger than any that remain in GNP, at least the one in the US. It might be the GNP in BC. Also misleading, at 00:51, when discussing Lake McDonald, they show footage of Sherburne Lake in the Many Glacier area. Confirm this yourself when they show it again when covering Many a bit later. That Park was my back yard. If you'd like I can get other Glacierites to weigh in.

Lastly, I would have edited out any reference of Jack Hanna. There's a video of him in the Fifty Mountain area of the Park (North of Granite Park Chalet along the Highline Trail) digging up glacier lily bulbs to show his viewers what's edible in the Park. I took a train across the United States and I booked the timing so I could go through glacier national Park and see whatever I can see from the train. There was a 6-hour delay I went through there in a pitch black of night I was so unhappy I missed it all
If I had a chance to visit this park or yellowstone national park, which one would you recommend it ? Please i need help .. I'll visit next summer or in the spring 🙂🙋♂️
I'd do both... Glacier is about 300 miles from Yellowstone. If you're only going to be in the area once, try both.
But if you have to choose, Glacier is better for amazing mountain scenery, and gives you the chance to cross over to Waterton Lakes National Park in Canada. Yellowstone is better for wildlife and unique geological features. Both have amazing lodges. Yellowstone has the historical cachet of being the first National Park.
It's a tough call, but like Cory says below, if you can do both then try to do that. Each park is special in its own way and both are worth visiting if you can.

Fantastastic video. Im planning a visit September 2020. I tried June 2018 going the sun road was still closed from winter. Last year in September 2019 a big blizzard blew in and closed the park. So, wish me luck.
Also, when I'm not backpacking, I sleep in my suv. Where would you recommend staying like that in the park. Also planning about 7 days in the park, hope to do at least 5 hikes. Im up for the tough ones. What five is your best.

That's such a bummer that Going-to-the-Sun was closed in 2018 and that you didn't get to go in 2019. Please be careful while you're out there. It's bear country! Bring a bear canister to store your food and bear spray. A 650 lbs grizzly bear recently charged unsuspected hikers so stay vigilant.
On the east side of Glacier National Park, the Many Glacier Campground is surrounded by day hikes, wildlife, and mountain attractions. It's next to the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn-a combination gift shop, restaurant, and lodging option-nearly half of the 109 sites at the campground are available for advance reservation throughout the summer. The other half of the campsites are available on a walk-up basis, and hopeful campers should arrive early to nab a spot during the peak season.
Many Glacier Campground sites cater to tent camping and camper vehicles, and a few accommodate RVs over 21 feet. Numerous best hiking trails in Glacier stem from the Many Glacier Campground, including routes to iconic spots like Grinnell Glacier and Iceberg Lake.

Great list and photography! Did you see the moose in Fishercap Lake? I think I have seen moose there more than 20 times in my many visits to Glacier.

Have you ever summited a mountain in Glacier? I mean you summited a mountain in Denali NP so I wouldn't be surprised if have or plan on summiting a mountain there. Glacier NP is probably the national park that I want to visit the most but unfortunately I'm on the other side of the U.S. It looks so fun and has everything I ever wanted in a national park.
Never summited a mountain in Glacier like we have in the Tetons or other parks. Hope you're able to visit this incredibly special place at some point.

LadyT-777, this whole video is about 1 park--Glacier, which is on the Canadian border in Montana, and one of 3 that's shared with Canada. Here, it's Waterton Lakes in British Columbia; #2 is Alaska's Wrangell-St. Elias and Canada's Kluane (clue-AH-knee) in Yukon, and #3, though not a national park, is the International Peace Garden--half in N. Dakota and half in Manitoba.

There are shuttles but they can be packed. It's still technically driving but you can cover your eyes:-)
Great video. But please understand its the natural possession of the glaciers to melt and eventually disappear . Glacier park was formed by huge glaciers. We are looking at the very tailed of the last ice age. Its not global warming. Its the natural possess of time. . That was a very cool blond bear. Never saw that one in glacier.
Yall need to drive the road while you still can. They have every intention of closing it to traffic. Only shuttles and bikes will travel that road. 5 years is my prediction. They did it in Yosemite and the Grand Canyon. Now the shuttles are free.
Do you want to sit next to some old guy like me and have to listen to whatever.... not me. I want my own time to experience the road in my own way. I go out there to escape the daily grind of life. Part of that is dealing with people. On the road it s just me my ride and God.
The road really is stunning. Do it. On a motorcycle is the best.

Very disappointed that this video includes several sections of footage of places that are NOT Glacier. I recognized Banff for sure, but also shots of Glaciers that are way bigger than what are in the Park. Glacier has enough to recommend it for what it is. Why would you put filler in of other places in this video? Shame on you.
I've been to Glacier five times, and Banff twice. Every scene these guys filmed and included in this list looked like Glacier to me. Please include the exact time of footage within the video that you believe to be Banff, or glaciers not in GNP? 🤔 Otherwise, shame on you... ✌

At 00:18, and again at 09:33, I don't know where that is, expect Canada again, but that glacier is larger than any that remain in GNP, at least the one in the US. It might be the GNP in BC.
Also misleading, at 00:51, when discussing Lake McDonald, they show footage of Sherburne Lake in the Many Glacier area. Confirm this yourself when they show it again when covering Many a bit later.
That Park was my back yard. If you'd like I can get other Glacierites to weigh in.

You might be correct, and if so my apologies. Possible someone else edited their footage for this video, and mistakenly included those couple of clips? I'll let the guys respond to that; just a guess on my part. Regardless, I still find this video to be otherwise nicely done, and I appreciate the love these guys have for Glacier. Let's all agree that the park is fantastic 👍✌ Take care!
Lastly, I would have edited out any reference of Jack Hanna. There's a video of him in the Fifty Mountain area of the Park (North of Granite Park Chalet along the Highline Trail) digging up glacier lily bulbs to show his viewers what's edible in the Park. That, of course, is strictly verboten, but that overblown jackass doesn't think the rules apply to him.

Overblown jackass. No need for that. And your right about some of the footage not being Glacier. I think the point the boys are trying to make was the beauty of Glacier. Banff shares a lot of the same geography so a little wandering off the path isn t so bad. You gotta loosen up that collar a tad.
