  • Here's a demonstration of the Power Functions starter set! I hope I was able to give you a general idea on how they work and how fast/powerful they are, as well as how the lighting system works, and how to interact with the components!
    Let me know what you guys thought in the comments below!
    Check out the video where I unbox the same set!

    Video is very comprehensive and easy to understand. My complaint is to lego that sells this setup at a ridiculous price. Again, nice video! Some might be fooled at first by the rotation speed of the motor, since it overlapses with the refresh rate of the camera, but it spins really fast. The problem with this small motors is that is has low torque, but that's why they're the smallest. By the way, I remember a situation from Seinfeld, where Elaine goes to cinema and wants to buy a small bag of popcorn and the seller says they don't have "small", they have medium, which is small and big, which is medium. And Elaine asks: "what's big then?" and the seller replies "jumbo!" Similar thing here at lego with M, L and XL motors.

    I don’t know what is the problem about all those who are complaining but if you have never used a power functions component before like me, this video is brilliant. I really learnt much of what I was wondering all before. Thanks man for your effort. You did good about explaining the basics. Keep up the good work. And those who are complaining about everything, go get a life

      Sadly I never was able to experience older models. How do you feel about the next gen power functions that they're making? • @dxutube
      @dxutube 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@natecmocs4436 I initially thought the design was kiddish with some awkward shaping that would make incorporation more bulky compared to the simple cubic design of 8720 but with a few iterations have made it work. Go to a website called Bricklink. There, go to 'parts' and you'll see a large list of categories. There are several different Lego Technic categories to the far right side. There, find a part you need, click on it and you'll see a list of different sellers from around the world selling them. There's a filter so if you're from UK you can select only sellers from UK. Once you find the seller you want, go to his store and browse through his technic parts category and add anything you want to your shopping cart. You can do the same with different stores if one in particular didn't have everything you were looking for.
      Bricklink is a little difficult to learn how to use, but once you do, it's the best and cheapest way to buy specific Lego parts!

      Hello!
      It depends on what he wants to do with it. He can use it and create a bunch of stuff without a remote, however if he wants a remote can also be used. In order to use it you'd need to get the remote, and the infrared receiver. The receiver is selling at $14.99 and the remote itself at $9.49. The remote would let him do the exact same things in the video just from a distance.

      Hello! Are you familiar with Bricklink? If not, Bricklink is like a Lego eBay. You can order any parts from there and they have a pretty big catalog of parts. I'm gonna give you links to the main parts you need. You could see the part names and try finding them somewhere else, or you can try buying it from a bricklink seller and check all his part listings to see if he has any of the other parts you need!
      For the turn table:
      www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=61485&idColor=86#T=C&C=86
      www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=60474&idColor=55#T=S&C=86&O={%22color%22:86,%22iconly%22:0}
      www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=6585&idColor=11#T=C&C=11
      For the worm box:
      www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=4716#T=C
      That's the spiral ^. As for the gears, this link has a bunch of gear sizes, and it really depends on which speed you want. The larger the gear the slower it'll go
      www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?pg=1&catString=136&itemBrand=1000&catType=P
      As for the rest of the parts you need, just use any bricks with technic holes in them, and regular axels!
      I hope I helped some! Just in case here's a link to an eBay listing with many random gears and technic parts you could find useful. Searching 'Lego techic lot' on eBay can help you find what you need also.

    i want you to explain about servo motor bc i didnt know anything about it :c

    • @natecmocs4436
      @natecmocs4436  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey basically the servo motor turned in intervals like a clock which allowed you to do more precise movements such as steering the wheels of a car. The problem is Lego stopped making Power Functions and the only way to find them is on the second hand market. The good news is that with their new motors (Powered Up) you can control them from a smart device and they can actually be used as normal motors AND servo motors which makes them way more versatile. In my recent Technic Buggy review I show a set using the new motor system if you'd like to check it out! Also I plan on making a video soon on the new motor system and how to use them to replace Power Functions as well as how to use them as servo motors :)

    hey folks. is there anyway i can do the worm gear motor and light setup without it being lego? im trying to make 1 small motorised project but dont particularly need it to be lego. just need a spinning thing with light hooked up to switch

      These are basic mechanical principals, so yes it should work with whichever medium you use as long as you have a viable replacement (example a part the same size by another brand)

    HI NATE
    YOUR VIDEOS ARE AWESOME
    BUT I HAVE A QUICK QUESTION WHERE CAN YOU USE A SINGLE MOTOR

    • @natecmocs4436
      @natecmocs4436  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! You mean single motor as in, a Moc that only uses one motor?

    • @nikhilrajmohan9930
      @nikhilrajmohan9930 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@natecmocs4436 yes u are right
      Ya a single motor but where do you use them
      can you put up a short video by building a car and using a single motor to spin the back wheels
      and can you recommend some Lego sets that have at lest 800 pieces under 150 AED

      It uses 6 AA Batteries! They last a long time, from my experience (with moderate use)

    Can you get something that like, control the rpm a bit more, like a controller or something

    • @natecmocs4436
      @natecmocs4436  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes there are two remote controls available. Direction control and speed control. The speed controller looks like a video game controller with dual dials while the direction control is narrower with two switches. In order to use it you need the Power Functions infrared receive as well. Unfortunately they aren't on the Lego website right now so you'd have to buy it somewhere else like eBay or or Bricklink

    Will the motor work with just the battery box or does it Need the switch?

    • @natecmocs4436
      @natecmocs4436  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The battery box has a built-in switch already meaning you can plug the motor directly to the battery box. The switch let's you turn on the battery box that powers (for example, a set of lights) but doesn't instantly turn on whatever is hooked up to the switch until you turn it on

    Where can I get loads of cheap Lego stuff like this and couldn't you add silicone oil to the gears to reduce friction. I do electronics but this would be good to prototype mixing inexpensive engineering with electronics instead of buying expensive metal parts

    • @natecmocs4436
      @natecmocs4436  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I feel like Lego is so diverse and has so many different parts and ways of connecting them (LEGO made a physically life size working car) that they can be used to simulate real world engineering techniques. You can get cheap Lego on eBay (sometimes) but mostly on Bricklink. Bricklink can be a little hard to navigate but once you get used to it it's great for finding lots of cheap lego parts
