Hold your horses, i think ikea changed the system, they now include the ceiling mounts but only the bottom part, which by the looks of it, screws on directly into the ceiling as people were complaining about the mounts sliding out while pulling curtains.
I’m not crazy. I installed a 15’ by 9’ IKEA laundry cabinet system but cannot see how to mount this to the ceiling. No brackets. Drove 1 hour to the store… no brackets. So how does this work? I get the slide mechanism… but this doesn’t go to the ceiling.
I didn’t know Mark Ruffalo make how-to videos. I really appreciated it. Like everyone else said, the package instructions are possibly the worst ikea has ever produced
I'm in the UK and I don't have the ceiling brackets in the pack. Looking at the menial, you only need the little lever bracket. It mounts to the ceiling with a washer so it can layer rotate.
The little mounting arm you use to twist here to secure the railing to the mount is all I got. Mine, however, all have holes in them, and it seems like they're meant to be screwed straight into the ceiling, doing away with this little mounting bracket. The little bracket permanently mounted seems superfluous, and will drop the rail down for no reason. I can't even find this little bracket on IKEA's site. So it seems like IKEA has changed how they expect you to mount these to the ceiling - just screw the little arm straight in, snap the rail onto it, and twist it to hold the rail. 4 mm screws seem to have the right size screw head to still fit into the rail.
At what point did you flip out and and have a mental break down when you realized that 5 day journey through the IKEA Forest was for nothing and you had to buy the locking anchors separately?
@@kianaporter-isom6254 you’ll have to screw them directly into the ceiling they aren’t being manufactured anymore. Just screw the lever in the ceiling and it’ll work just fine. Use a 1.5inch wood screw
My father literally had a stroke walking through the store. I wish I was lying… but I’m not. Finding the pieces for this was a pain in 2023!!! (Btw, he’s fine now…but really??!!)
I just purchased mine a week ago (January 2022) It came with all the items needed. I did not have to purchase anything else. Based on the front cover of your manual, which also is slightly different, more parts are included as well. So it may be based on when you last purchased your item.
This is definitely the case now. Checking Ikea US today shows the rail set includes "2 ceiling fixtures", which based on the pics are the ceiling mounts.

Where did you buy the wall mount clips? I have been trying to install these rods since December and Ikea has not been able to help. Their installation video on their website does not even include the mount but it is definitely needed.
At the time I installed this system, more than a year ago, all pieces were sold separately. Six months later, they were sold in kits for either ceiling or wall mounted, different brackets. The wall brackets appear to be available in the kits. I have not seen or heard of the ceiling brackets for some time.
Those ceiling brackets aren’t included and IKEA doesn’t sell them. It also doesn’t come with screws to attach the plastic piece to the ceiling. I had to get a couple screws. Took me a while to figure this all out.

I have vent covered sections in my ceiling to access shut-off valves so I was able to see where some are. Typically they are run 16 or 24 inches apart. I think 16 is more common, so you could guesstimate the measure from one end of the wall. Lightly tap in a picture hanging nail, they are black with a brass top, very thin and make a barely noticeable hole, to see if you hit a joist.

How in gods name did you get the clips to slide into the ceiling mount? Seems simple enough but both of my pieces will NOT slide in so I can’t go any further with installation until I force them in with a hammer!
The part you slid into the top of the rail is a connector piece for connecting two rails together. The line in the middle is the midway point as a reference to make sure you’re distributing it equally between both rails. The ceiling mount clip clips directly into the rail when locked and doesn’t require that piece. You really shouldn’t be keeping this video up as it will confuse people
I had some extra decking screws but your average 2" screw is enough as long as you attach to your rafter ties/joists. For concrete, 2" concrete bolts or concrete fasteners should do, depending on weight. I should note I diy and not a contractor so you may want profeasional advice depending on your application.
@@tehblue ok cool thanks, I was actually thinking 1" should do. But will think about 2" per your advise (will double check in home depot). Too bad ikea don't sell those brakets separately coz they are such a cheap plastic, I don't have confidence in 2 of them holding a track and 2 layers of heavy curtains. I wanted to put 3 brackets at least per track (but only 2 comes in a package)

Part of my ceiling was opened for access to plumping and I used local code to determine the width of joist. My first time I missed but got it on the second.
Unfortunately I no longer see the mount listed on the IKEA US site but may be available in other regions. As of yesterday my local Ikea did not have it in stock either.
Ikea has since changed the system and bundle. Some have reported luck finding the mount and clips sold together. I was never able to find the pieces I referenced in the online store. Your best option is asking a store associate

They haven't been available for some time, unfortunately. It really is a great system for ceiling hung curtains for windows or to separate a room.

you can just attach the rail straight to the ceiling but then its not as easy to take back down to add more pieces to the track etc.

I used 1 1/4" sheetrock screws that I already had and no washers. As long as the screw head does not obstruct the clip you should be fine.

Is there a weight limit on this rail? Thinking about using it for a heavy winter curtain.
I'm sure there is, but I find it to be very strong. No reason why it couldn't support some heavy curtains.

2023 in Denmark and the ceiling mount doesn't come with the pack. This sucks balls IKEA.

I screwed directly into the ceiling joist. Parts of the ceiling are vented for various access which allowed me to locate the joists.
