    Something always seemed a bit "off" about many videos I've seen promoting socialism, and you've just clarified it for me. Many of these videos start off by pointing out the problems of capitalism (and I know there are many), but then go on to compare the real problems of capitalism against an idealized version of socialism. They never seem to compare the real problems of capitalism against the real problems of socialism. I can't believe I didn't see how disingenuous this trick is.

      In my country, every topic, every single one (except for religion, we're a very religious country, Nigeria) in education starting from primary 1 (to Americans that should be 1st grade of elementary school) every single topic must have 10 - 20 advantages and disadvantages listed underneath, no single topic, including freaking maths and English is exempted except religious studies and over here, private schools are much more regarded and sort after than public school by a large margin, the difference between both of them is the difference between public toilets and your own personal toilet... so the government can't really do anything to change this standard... And the points under both advantages and disadvantages must be different from another point so you won't divide one point into three to fill up space, if you can't get up to 10, you have to defend it to the CEO of the school, the principal of the school, the head of department academics and head of department operation and the vice principal...
      This kinda made it very hard for socialism and communism to get anywhere because we immediately realized how fucked up it was without any utopian sugarcoating once we got to the demerits, well, I figured that out immediately I heard the definition (I was a comic artist since primary three (3rd grade for Americans), not really a good one but enough to sweeten the heads of my mates and seniors at that time and I got paid for it, so when I saw the definition of socialism and communism, I was immediately like fuck off, we were taught capitalism first so I knew what I was doing was capitalism and once I compared it with socialism, yeah, it stopped making sense immediately, plus we over here in Africa know how bad government handles everything, I told you about public schools earlier)... So teachers couldn't sneak in their own curriculum because they have rules they have the follow as well as a format (and cameras in classes) and they have to submit their notes to the school to approve including how they're going to explain it, do anything different and yeah, you would be lucky to get a job as a personal tutor..
      teachers aren't the ones responsible for researching so they don't have academic freedom because that belongs to researchers... Teachers are offering a service and just like a food company can't justify poisoning their products by calling it a trademark and masseuse can't justify chopping out people's limbs and calling it freedom of expression, teachers can't do the opposite of the service that they're paid to do and justify it with freedom of speech... Just because they speak doesn't mean they have freedom to say anything... It's like saying just because an interpreter speaks, he can interprete whatever the fuck he wants... They have a specific job to do, this also applies to lecturers and professors... They only academic freedom in research not when they're teaching students otherwise a professor can start peer reviewing an already defended theory whilst teaching the students because he was butt hurt that he was debunked by the research during the real peer review and the students won't know that his counters have already been debunked or/and would be too afraid to counter his counter because of his title and power...
      Please, people need to stop using freedom of speech and academic freedom anyhow... It's dumb and very illogical and doesn't work in any other industry... A linguist as freedom when he's researching a language but not when he's interpreting one... An academician as freedom when he's doing academic researches not when he's freaking teaching because he has to teach what as already been agreed to be taught and then as just one person can't go against that to a bunch of kids who don't know anything about the matter...

      Anyways, I had a point I was going for before that massive tangent... People should start requiring pros and cons for everything they want to believe in (that's why reviewers are very important)... If someone is tearing apart capitalism just to say socialism is better, the person as to first prove that socialism can solve the failings of capitalism mentioned whilst doing the same thing capitalism does at the very least half as good (it doesn't have to do it just as good or better), in other words, they need to be able to run both of them in a competition... But most importantly, nothing is perfect, so the person has to be able to talk about the demerits of socialism and it has to be an exhausted list otherwise you have to go look for it yourself... And never believe anything as true no matter how sad it is without evidence or at least a very logical and we'll thought out iron proof hypothesis which is very hard to get so evidences are better... Every point as to be peppered with well explained examples, hypothesis and evidences and not just a picture flashing on your screen...

      @@marcusmoonstein242 and the saddest part about south Africa is that if the leftist communist race baiting academicians of the west had just left south Africa the fuck alone when south Africa gained it's independence, south Africa would have broken Africa out of the 3rd world status... But no, these leftists professors introduced racial hatred and communism to south African schools and politicians then the leftist media and social media prevented the west from knowing anything that is going on in South Africa because they have nothing that would help the left going on there... Now, south Africa isn't even mentioned anymore in the west, just like Libya, they tossed it away and even the afrocentric racist black Americans stopped used south Africa as the mother land of Africa and have transfered that privilege to central Africa because they can also claim that capitalism is destroying those countries too, a two for one special...
      They're doing the same in Ghana, Ghana that became one of the richest country in Africa almost overnight stupidly allowed themselves to be infiltrated by the left and now they're having problems...
      It's even sipping into my country's mainstream politics... Our president removed the subsidy of fuel as soon as he entered, immediately skyrocketing the price of fuel under one evening and never brought in any replacement so we're suffering here from fuel price that literally tripled in price over night and us still climbing with nothing to safe us in sight...
      Only for a brainless useless female newly appointed minister to say the dumbest thing ever... Women should be provided palliatives by the government because of the subsidy removal and never gave any reason why apart from fallopian tubes and women somehow most affected... She didn't realize she's literally saying all men should pay all women for both sexes suffering together through the tripled prices of fuel and she said it so matter of factly... She also was too dumb to realize that palliatives to all women who are half if the population is more expensive than just returning the subsidy, it would be much more cheaper, sensible and impartial to just put the subsidy back... She was so stupid that for a good while, I actually thought she was trolling and she just wanted to show Nigerians how funny one our minister is, but she just kept on going and realized this brainless woman is serious...
      Seriously, the left destroys everything it touches and that's why I hate when antiwoke pundits say some if not most of the leftist have good intentions and are just trying to do good things but their generosity and morality is being taken advantage of by the left... No, they're not, because if they had any good intentions to speak of, why don't they check up on the things they were once supporting rather than deleting it from their brain once the media stops talking about it because everything has gone to shit so the media wants to hide the repercussions and these leftists don't even bother check up on it again until someone on the right reminds them about or the media finds something to exploit from the once current thing and then they inform their leftist sheep's to get ready to support the next current thing, that's when the leftist sheep's remember what they once left behind... If they had any good intentions, they would have been following up on it ...

      @@ehannasir8464nice try bucko. The part of Palestine they’re specifically talking about is the Gaza Strip. The Gaza Strip is ruled with an iron first by Hamas. Hamas is a Muslim extremist group that outlaws homosexuality (without trial mind you, all they have to do is suspect that you’re gay). According to lgbt Gazans that have left Gaza, Hamas punishes homosexuality, typically by death. Even in the West Bank, by all accounts the more moderately governed section of Palestine, there have been many accounts of gays being beheaded, imprisoned, or thrown from buildings without the government explaining why or looking into what happened. Even though they claim that homosexuality isn’t illegal or legal in the West Bank. When people talk about countries and their views, they tend to talk about the people in charge of the country. The people in charge of Palestine kill gays. Every other Muslim extremist group in the 21st century has been known to outlaw homosexuality and kill known gays. And in fact, it’s been speculated in many articles you can find online by looking up this subject, that many of the killings of gays aren’t even done by those that govern palestine, but by Palestinian civilians who know they won’t get charged for murder if it’s against a gay person. Who cares if not every single person in Gaza isn’t a Muslim, it’s a Muslim territory and it’s led by Muslim extremists. And if you can’t get any support from the government, you may as well be all alone.

    For me this also has a lot to view with how left leaning people view culture. They see it as different flavors of ice cream. Distinct but ultimately interchangeable.
    Anyone who has actually interacted significantly with more than 1 culture knows this is bullocks. A far better analogy would be that cultures are completely different types of food. You would not serve, prepare, or store a pizza, salad, and ice cream in the same way and if you did you be seen as crazy

    • @BobbyJim19
      @BobbyJim19 ปีที่แล้ว +56

      Exactly. Culture is more than food and family get-togethers. Culture includes norms about what is considered polite or rude, moral or immoral, late or punctual, fair or unfair, normal or deviant, everything. Trying to get a lot of people with radically different cultures to function together is a really difficult goal to implement. Shared norms make everything easier even if we assume that any given set of norms is axiomatically no better or worse than any other; doubly so if each group believes its own norms are superior.

    • @Poliostasis
      @Poliostasis ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Many "left-leaning" people don't view culture that way, it seems like a mass generalisation. You didn't mention anyone extreme, but those who are just "leaning" left. I myself lean rather left in a lot of ways, but I don't believe cultures are interchangeable, and I imagine many think the same way.

      @@PoliostasisI do feel forced by the lack of statistical evidence presented to admit that OP commenter probably came to that conclusion anecdotally; however, general claims can be made about groups while acknowledging exceptions. For example, the statement "Asian men are shorter on average" is made no less true by the fact that you might happen to know a tall Asian guy. If there is statistical evidence supporting the claim that OP commenter made about the left generally tending to view culture(s) a certain way, then it can still be generally true in regards to the group despite the existence of certain exceptions.

I.E. if you admit there are bad cultures they’ll accuse you of racism. Like no Emily, cultures are a thing that exist separately. Wahabiist islam is an awful violent and hateful culture. That doesn’t mean Arabs are those things, most Arabs aren’t wahabiist. And not all wahabiist Muslims are Arab. Imagine taking two sets of 20 dice, rolling them, and having A and B take turns picking one die, with the goal of having the highest final total. A simply picks the highest roll, while B alternates between one set and the other. If one group has less high rolls, both A and B picking from it will deplete the good to acceptable rolls, and every turn where B has to pick from it anyway gives A another chance to poach one of the remaining high rolls from the other group.

Let not the scribe refuse to write as Allah has taught him, so let him write. Let him (the debtor) who incurs the liability dictate, and he must fear Allah, his Lord, and diminish not anything of what he owes. But if the debtor is of poor understanding, or weak, or is unable himself to dictate, then let his guardian dictate in justice. And get two witnesses out of your own men. And if there are not two men (available), then a man and two women, such as you agree for witnesses, so that if one of them (two women) errs, the other can remind her' and yes it was a quran verse, sorry on that. The euphemism interpretation sounds to me like a stretch made by, as you say 'some' scholars. And the fact aisha exists as a counterexample should not somehow mean that the verse isnt referring to women as inferior- we still have people nowadays thinking women are much dumber than men even though that is demonstrably not true. Aisha is also an inidividual so she can oppose the norm-and the prophet's wife at that. In any case the quran and hadith is ridden with contradictions, there is a doctrine of abbrogation just because so many verses said a then later verses said b in a vague manner.

      oh and also if you questioned, "what if the man doesnt know how to lead" then islam clearly stated that you just cant marry, as clearly youre not ready for that, and that goes for the woman too.

      The misconception is that diversity of backgrounds, like race or gender, is the same thing as diversity of thought. This isn’t necessarily true, you could easily find people of diverse backgrounds who think pretty much the same. Each person, regardless of background (which diversity today generally means race, gender, and sometimes sexuality), has a unique perspective. Often the left creates echo-chambers disguised as “diversity”. This is when a group that appears diverse all thinks the same leftist ideology. This pushes out those with diverse thoughts and creates a way to keep people in line while appearing to be well meaning and benevolent- but it isn’t at all, sadly.

      The biggest problem is that there is no actual way to achieve the "stateless" part. Progressive wealth redistribution requires a large form of authority and force to implement since people are not naturally willing to give up their private property. So once seizing the means of production starts, rather than going away the state does exactly the opposite and starts ballooning until it becomes a dictatorship.

    As a Democrat and an atheist, I can avoid this. Hating something someone else appreciates does not mean I hate that person. I would love it if we could be friends and only their own limits are defined by their beliefs, not mine. If it’s just an opinion, that’s fine it’s intuitive. If it’s a religion, even though it’s intuitive to think religiously, the specifics were given by other humans to these people, who, regardless of whether they are right or wrong, are only holding this opinion because it needs to be right, not because it is right. I don’t like Judaism, I would likely never follow it. Does that make me a neo-nazi? If you’re responding logically, the answer should be no. Therefore, in this case I could say Islam is wrong about woman and that I don’t like or even hate Islam, and it would still be illogical to say that I hate Muslims and especially to say that I want them dead. There, no more doublethink, and I didn’t have to deny my morals of “be kind to anyone, if possible.”

      I’ve also been watching a lot of philosophical content and have thought about how silly demanding respect through power or fear is. That’s why at most I get a little frustrated in my comments, maybe sometimes a little condescending, but that’s only when I feel really disrespected or the other person isn’t quite getting what I’m saying. Otherwise, I’m very charitable and always try to defuse heated situations. This makes it a lot easier for them to ignore specific parts that they don’t like, because they can simply avoid that part of the Bible.
