"60 for 40 years" is wildly hilarious.
Right up there with Malcolm McDowell
I came to the comments to say the same thing. It’s so damn true it’s crazy 😂😂😂
Yeah, I totally had a spit take with that line 😂
Steve Buscemi also looks like he was just born 45
This definitely is expected from Millennial and Gen Z who never seen the actors young in the 70s, 80s, and 90s.
The real winners are everybody who didn't watched the super bowl. 🎉🎉
Nah it was a good superbowl.
My team didn't make the cut, anyway.
we don't get superbowl over here in England so I get extra win. GO FETCH ME TREATS 😸😸
@@m-paws3788Europe ftw!
*watch*
It was so strange how many of the ads were nostalgia bait. Every. Single. One.
Member Scrubs? I member Scrubs. Member Twins? I member!
The Scrubs one was embarrassing for everyone involved. I hope they got payed a looooooot for that.
You know that feeling when Usher shows up dressed like a 60 year old grandmother.
Exactly. That broach thing was G...A...Y.
@5:40 Usher's dressed like a black grandma attending sunday service in her best 80s suit set. All he needs is his brimmed hat with see through ribbon and obnoxiously large fake flowers.
He needs to fire his stylist. All his styles lately have been giving Southern, church, black grandma. Humiliation ritual?
Imagine the Arnold commercial but instead they were correcting Jackie Chan.
Wouldn't fly today lol
Imagine that Jackie Chan ad but Dany Devito comes rushing at him holding his eyes back and going "LEALN TO SPEAK ENGLISH ALLEADY!"
Isn't "kill the tornado" literally the solution to every "Sharknado" movie? Does that mean the inspiration is taking from the cheesy parody now?
Lmao! “Most of them are Biden voters” 🤣🤣🤣🤣 That got me. Amazing!
Usher dressed like somebody's grandma at church with that suit, gloves and pin
You can always tell which actor's career is about to, or has already, hit the skids.
I guess Aquaman 2 bombing has consequences...
The commercial itself wasn't the worst I've seen. But at the same time...What the hell was the point?
I think the little dance move Usher does at the end of the Walken ad is supposed to be a reference to Fatboy Slim's "Weapon of Choice'" music video, which Christopher Walken stars in. It's a great video
Love weapon of choice
Weapon of Choice is an absolute classic. Some of the best Walken content around. 😆
An absolute classic video. Never gets old.
Ariana Grande went from white to black to white again
She's italian, she went from mob boss little princess to Jersey Shore, soon she'll evolve into Teresa Caputo.
I love doing Christopher Walken impressions but I think he's the one person I wouldn't do it in front of
“Tornados only last 25 minutes”. Hey, lasting 25 minutes is commendable.
I guarantee that the last planets of the apes movie from the new series will end with the space ship crashing down
I think the girl in the trailer is an astronaut or was on the ship considering what she's wearing.
@@Bonesawisready926 maybe but in the first trailer she's acting feral so I think it's just that she gets those clothes cuz I think it's still to early for them to show the astronaut part of the story tho they did tease it in the fist one
I’m just hoping the series ends, the movies are overrated cash cows.
@@Channeleven2345789 Bad news, they're making a new one, trailer's been out for a couple weeks now.
No matter what you've shown me, it still doesn't make me cringe and shudder as much as that feet washing ad. "Jesus died for your toes."
That was the cringiest thing I think I’ve ever seen. Beyond batwoman levels of cringe.
Rule 34 is getting weirder.
For the love of God, what haven't I seen yet ):
aTOEn, for your sins 👣
@@Noonesbusiness The worst part is that it wasn't even accurate. The foot washing was a gesture of humility and humbleness within a person, yes. But it didn't mean you turned a blind eye to wrong doing or somebody's problems.
This isn't even a case of believing or not. It was purely an egregious ad.
Christopher Walken is about to enter his John Kramer arc, I swear.. 😂
JLongbone reviewing superbowl ads?! HELL YES!
I mean heres the thing about the monkeys in Rise of the planet of the apes, they dont have a need for clothes, their fur provides the same benefits and we do see them wearing armor and accessories.
In the OG they wore clothes due to the limitation of movie making technologies at the time, so presumably Apes will further evolve and start to thin out furwise and make clothes.
Usher out here dressed like Hillary Clinton what the hell
As someone who lives near Tuscaloosa and had to deal with the tragedy of that F5 years ago, I can assure you a tornado can swallow a whole house in 5 seconds, let alone 5 minutes. For a whole 5 minutes, it'll sound like a fast-moving train is swallowing the world 😭
I live in Andover KS and I hear ya! That tornado a couple years ago hit right across the street from my house. Scary AF.
The only person who's been able to Walken Walken to his face was the dude who played his son in Batman Returns.
I remember that video it was great and hilarious.
How are you gonna get rid of a tornado? Unloads barrels of grenades and machine guns. Later “ it’s learning to use our weapons against us.”
A tornado with grenades? Id surrender
They played a lot of Superman 64
Feel free to make more videos like this where you're just casually chit chatting/reviewing pop culture type content. It's fun, it's like having a good time with a friend.
Because Deadpool 2 was not part of the MCU canon at the time, they ended it with a montage of him gaining access to time travel (tech, not a superpower) and using it to undo several events in the movie and even hop into other universes. One such universe being our own, in which DP kills Ryan Reynolds before he could act in Green Lantern. It's also implied he kills Baby Hitler.
So, you know, take your pick of what the TVA is pissed off did not happen.
My takeaway from the Arnold ad is that it is perfectly ok to make fun of people's accents.
Well, so long as it's a white person's accent. They wouldn't dare try this shit with anybody else.
Usher looks like a southern grandma dressed for church
He looks like all the grandmas through out the country.
I think the State Farm/Arnie commercial is supposed to ALSO be a play on the "hard-R" versus the "-uh" at the end of the forbidden racial slur.
But maybe not.
That’s too smart for modern ad executives.
Yessss another video!!!
These superbowl ads were so bad. They reminded me of the superbowl game that happened after the shut down, all of the ads were about health 🙄
The proper commercial for the state farm one is after being corrected a second time arnie loses it and screams "I will crush you little tiny annoying man!" and then you just see him in the background throwing the guy across the set and beating him senseless into his car or house or something while someone else says "hope he has state farm"
Or " I definitely want to keep Arnie as a good neighbor"
Matt Damon trying and failing not to cringe through the Dunkin commercial saved it. The immediate apology after quoting Good Will Hunting was the biggest laugh I had from the commercials this year
Why make a Twister sequel when there have been tornado movies after it and Bill Paxton is no longer with us? Oh, right 💰
What? An old franchise being left to age gracefully and appreciated for what it is? Not on modern Hollywood's watch.
In hindsight, Glenn Powell seems like the type of guy that would probably pull off something like this. But who knows?
Maybe good things are best left as a single movie instead of trying to make more.
Usher is wearing great grandma’s clothes in that BMW ad.😬 These super bowl ad suck. Cringe Dunkin’ Donuts ad because it’s Matt, Ben and Jen together. I really hate celebrity ads. Wicked should’ve just got the original actresses from the musical Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth. The first Twister great for the time the 90’s.. the sequel doesn’t need to be.
And Jason Mamoa actually signed up to do that commercial??. JEEEZZZ, Aquaman 2 must have been that bad. also, no wonder his wife filed for divorce
Aquaman 1 and 2 in my opinion are bad. His wife always been loopy I was shocked he married her.
@@ZavaXavier the first Aquaman was watchable, but I hear 2 is just forgettable
Budweiser trying to win back it's customer base is the funniest s**t.
I've never seen a company go completely schizoid with it's marketing quite as bad as they have. Like, they seriously had no backup plan when the Mulvaney shit fell through.
I don't think you could get away with joking about "correcting" someone's accent with anyone other than someone as good-natured (and white) as Arnold Schwarzenegger. Like would this not totally crash and burn if you were making fun of a Mexican accent, or a Jamaican accent, or?
*Just when I was thinking maybe this is too cynical, the next ad is.. poking fun at Christopher Walken's way of speaking.
Why the hell does the pre-wicked witch sound surprised that she’s green? Like I’m assuming she’s supposed to be sarcastic, but she’s sounding looks she legitimately didn’t realize that she was green
Usher looked like his grandma dressed up to go to church
The Nickelodeon Super Bowl broadcast was super fun! Better than the ads
J wearing a Be Kind shirt as she’s roasting everyone 🔥
5:25 Usher looks like he just came from a Queen of England lookalike contest.
When I seen that they race swapped the witch I just LOST it
But she’s green. I’m not usually a fan of raceswaps. But I don’t think this counts.
Was Gamora raceswapped?
@@ECKohnsThey Nose swapped her, from a Jalapeño pepper nose to a Bell pepper nose.
We wuz witches n sheeeit?
Arianna Grande did decent acting on the show "Victorious," but she might be rusty from not doing it for a while. And her character, Cat, was a bit ditzy to brain dead on the show, so her range might not be great. 😬 I guarantee you they'll make the two of them lesbians. They had tension in the musical, but it never went further than a friendship. I haven't read the book, but I don't think they're a couple in that either.
Her character was a slightly bit bi-polar in Season 1. But used her normal voice. But she quickly became a victim of flanderization by acting like an infant in a 20 year old’s body.
What an annoying character.
Me blood pressure rises whenever JLB mentions Falcon and the Winter Soldier. I hope that review is still somewhere on the schedule.
3:50- 2006's Pink Panther remake also did this bit. French people might feel too sorry for Steve Martin's Clouseau to be outraged, as his accent was so unrealistically heavy that it sounded nore like he had a legitimate speech impediment.
I hated that movie shouldn't been made Steve Martin one of my favorite male comedians/comedic actors can't be Inspector Clouseau like the late great Peter Sellers.
@@ZavaXavier Agreed. As much as I like Steve Martin and the older Pink Panther movies, he was definitely NOT the guy to try to channel Jacques Clouseau. There's just no replacing Peter Sellers. He made that character his own in multiple aspects and nobody could recapture the magic his performance brought to it.
Even if someone could, the more fundamental issue is that some pop-cultural icons just don't translate as well outside the era they originated from. It goes beyond the long outdated dialogue like Clouseau calling Cato Fong his "little yellow friend". Granted, the therapist ripping into Martin's version for saying that was funny.
But the 2009 sequel taking the time to spend a whole scene educating his Clouseau on why that's not okay in current year ironically only highlights how out of place the character is in the 2000s to begin with. Dr. Who did the same bit with the crossover story arc featuring the more modern incarnation educating one of his older predecessors about how several things he says & thinks are problematic now.
In that context, the bit technically works (despite the fact that the older version of the Doctor historically didn't often if ever say things like that to my knowledge back when he was the star of the series). In The Pink Panther 2's case, however, it's harder to suspend disbelief at logistically when you consider that Steve Martin's Clouseau presumably didn't grow up in the same generation as Peter Sellers'.
He looks, sounds, and acts too young. Hence, it's a little strange that he'd think it's okay to refer to people of Asian descent in that way or that this would be the first time he's been called out for this. It's not impossible that he wasn't already aware of the racism in that statement, but the late 2000s setting makes the reference more of a nod to older fans that simply doesn't land with the majority in the general audience the film was aimed at.
Obviously, it is 100% possible to translate certain old characters into the modern day with success, depending on who we're talking about and what the project entails. More often than not, it comes down to the execution. But some are too strongly tied to the generation/generations in which they originally thrived.
2012's The Three Stooges faced roughly the same issues. Will Sasso, Chris Diamantopoulos, and Sean Hayes didn't do a bad job as Curly, Moe, and Larry in my opinion. Slapstick as a genre can still be funny in modern day too. Seeing Moe eye-gouge Jersey Shore's Snooki and slap Ron got a chuckle out of me.
But, again, the inescapable problem was that those jokes worked mainly BECAUSE you had these more pop-culturally relevant characters who were already infamous on the receiving end of these antics. People laughed more because it was happening to the Jersey Shore cast than because Moe was the perpetrator.
The Stooges as a concept just didn't carry the film as strongly as they would have in their heyday because times changed. Most of their fandom who grew up with the characters at their peak were grandparents by the time of the 2012 reboot. Sometimes, you have to know when to leave popular things from the old days alone, because the sad truth is that all icons are products of their time but not all icons are timeless.
You know it’s really weird, I thought there *already* was a ‘Wicked’ movie.
Am I thinking of something else?
There was 'Oz: the Great and Powerful' that you might be thinking of. It had Mila Kunis becoming the Wicked Witch of the West and, because it's Mila Kunis, she still looked hot so we got a sexy WWoW.
Oh and James Franco was in it too so there's that.
Lauren with her sassiness yes please
Is it just me or does Turk and JD look like they've had work done? Cosmetic or maybe bad CG.
Probably some de-aging tech.
Definitely de-aging. It makes them look too smooth.
They look AI generated at points. no exaggeration.
I remember when superbowl commercials were MEMORABLE. I still remember the car commercial with the kid dressed up as Darth Vader, trying to use the Force on stuff, and his father turns on the car with the remote ignition feature when the kid is doing it. It was cute.
We don't get commercials like that anymore. It's always camp, crap, or riddled with "The Message™".
"What's up, my Neighba?"
Also another entry into the Ozverse?
The Wizard of Oz book has been in the public domain longer than it’s been under copyright.
So Wizard of Oz reimagining happen all the time.
Ah, good to know@@ECKohns
It's sad that most of the humor in these commercials is derived from shit that's 20-40 years old.
It's like they know that they haven't made anything funny in the last couple decades.
I'd argue this is the end result of sanitized media and normalizing hypersensitivity. When you create a culture where you constantly have to walk on eggshells in your writing lest you offend some whiney clique in society. You're going to be hard pressed for creativity. This is best they can do. Lackluster, safe, dated humor.
I took a knee during the entire Superbowl...
But that's because I was fixing my brakes.
6:00 I think they were trying to loosely reference the music video Chris did of Fatboy Slim's "Weapon of Choice" but even still yeah, Usher killed the mood.
Some years ago I decided I would start going to the theatre more often, and Wicked was the first show I went to see during that time. Even though we got crappy seats I absolutely loved it and I'm hoping to see it again later this year. When I saw it, I remember thinking, 'I hope they don't make this a movie.'
I guess owls can't make good commercials, no matter how superb they are.
I'm a Broncos fan so I didn't even bother watching because I knew it'd just break my heart. Glad to enjoy the cringe with you for the first time J
Broncos were doomed by Wilson unfortunately
@@darkpuppetlordful In the latter half of the season totally.
@@Bonesawisready926 he was a bum pick the whole time, the fact it only presented in the latter half is just proof of the shit
@@darkpuppetlordful ~40 million in dead cap means we either trade up to get Penix or May (f!@# Caleb Williams) or we just get comfortable with another 3 years of not sniffing the playoffs.
If the people making the Doritos ad can't figure out that saying 'Our Latin inspired Doritos flavor gets brown people coming in in droves!' is to put it mildly, unfortunate, then there's no helping them XD
Honestly, I think Matt Damon was just being completely honest when he said it's sometimes hard to be Ben Affleck's friend.
Also, complete aside, but I don't think I could ever hate Christopher Walken no matter what he's in. He makes awkward cool.
I’m sure Ben has his many struggles but they’ve collaborated together in The Last Duel and Air. They’re still tight.
@@LyleVSXyle Well that's a good thing. I don't know about anyone else, but I really liked The Last Duel.
Thank you! Ads are so lame these days, no clever laugh out loud moments. Now it's just singing or playing some 70s/80s song in the background.
And/or using celebrity cameos of people that either nobody remembers or cares about anymore.
Funny how most of these adverts have N O T H I N G to do with their product or service.
State Farm had nothing about insurance.
Doritos nothing about food.
BMW nothing about cars.
Kawasaki nothing about ATVs.
At least Budwiser had something about delivering beer, so credit to them on that. Too bad for them that nobody is making room on the shelf for the deliveries lol.
Twister 2: Let's Twist Again
Twister 3: Twist and Shout
Twister 4: M. Knight Shyamalan Edition
Funny thing, I believe it was last year that Brie Larson made a commercial with Nissan. After that, I vowed never to buy a product from them.
With the wicked trailer, i kinda get what they are going for. In the musical, Elphaba (the green woman, aka witch of the west) is treated differently because she is green. Obvious reference to people being treated different cause of their skin color/race. That is not the real problem with this movie imo. The real problem is this movie will handle this topic.
After that take of Extra Credits on Orcs it comes spontaneous in my mind. How can you pick the antagonist of the original story and be like "yeah, she's perfect for my musical about racism"?
It the same shot behind Glinda we have a black woman.
Yeah, the race angle is going to make zero sense.
What, is a green chick too far in a universe with magic and talking animals?
Apes has a mary sue female protagonist I predict.
Unfortunately, companies have to be incredibly safe these days because there is so many different ways to offend so many different types of people. That isnt to say 'you have to be offensive to be funny' but more about the fact that we see way too much innocent jokes as offensive. Like we actually got people saying things like 'Thats a waste of food!' or 'This commercial poor shames.'
there was also a godzilla x kong trailer that was released a few days after the superbowl for some reason
Glen Powell and maybe some really cheesy writing like "Twins!!!" are going to be the highlight of Twisters.
It’s like watching a bunch of rejected Family Guy cutaways
That Dunkin Donuts commercial made the dunkachino look good by comparison.
Killing it J. And thanks for reassuring me that I missed absolutely nothing.
PS: J I hope that you along with Carl and whoever else you bring in should do the American Society of Magical Negros film for that will be comedy gold.
advertising needs to be ruthlessly mocked now.
Be honest, you only watched the Super Bowl for that Deadpool 3 trailer
"We gotta kill this Tornado" like...if your going to make a goofy line like that and drop it with decent delivery, AT LEAST put it in a "end of the world" or hurricane destruction film (set in the future, take it more seriously and grounded than geostorm). "imma murder this tornado" "five minutes later" "it died and I didn't even do anything!
I agree with you wholly, But the dancing away on the top of the stairs was also a Walken impression, There's a music video made years ago now, Where Walken dances around a Hotel lobby, Idk why but I am so happy it exists
Also Usher was dressed as the Queen, I saw him and immediately recognized it, Color swap his outfit to Blue, and it's the exact outfit she wore all the time, Even with the gloves
Legit question, have you seen the show scrubs? Thats where the 1st two guys from the tmobile ad are from
Scrubs, pretty decent from what I can remember. Even if it was a comedy, it had some pretty grim moments.
Not even Clydesdales can move me.
Mm-hmm, haven't spent on their products since the brouhaha began.
I put on Closed Captions cuz I'm in a meeting at work and the AI on TH-cam REALLY needs work in regards to Arnold's last name.
Timestamp is 3:46.
He also looks like Ted Danson from, "Cheers" if he was cast as a zombie.
🤟 Thank you! Your videos and your theme as my ringtone are helping some of us through these dark days. Also vitamin D. You are much appreciated.
Usher was the Halftime show, ergo…he had somewhere to be. And danced away. 😝
Isn’t Afflec on the flight logs?
They were less bad than 6 years ago that was awful
As someone who isn't into sports at all, especially not American sports this was hilarious to watch
Why did those chicken wings look like spring rolls?
They looked like fried chicken bites from some shitty Chinese buffet.
1. I love how Matt Damon and Ben Affleck have more chemistry than Ben Affleck and his actual girlfriend.
2. The "your phone telling you how many faces are in frame" is a BRILLIANT horror concept.
Love you so much J!
I love your videos. Make them about whatever you want! ❤ You are hilarious!
This should be an annual thing, roasting superbowl ads.this was funny.
Never really cared about deadpool but it's one of those 2024 films that could be worth to watch so longs its not in your face woke shit etc.. You should do a live stream movie watch, J!
Nothing will ever ever beat the "Magic Fridge"
My mom still quotes it to this day whenever I surprise her by sticking one of her favorite drinks or snacks in her fridge! 😂
Best Super Bowl commercial no question
Hell yes Magic Fridge
With any advertising it's always a tossup with whatever they're selling with 99% of the time it has nothing to with the products.
I grew up watch Twister. Absolutely LOVED it. But this trailer looks like absolute trash!
J you should watch dragged across concrete and brawl in cell block 99 both have Vince Vaughn actually acting
Haha great video Jlong! Lotta this was some criiinge. Some looked ok. Budlite stilll trying to crawl back their top spot 😌gtfo
Funny how companies love to waste so much money on cheap garbage looking advertisements!
I love how the BetMGM wasnt even a critic it was just simping over vince vaughn
Didnt see the JLongbone Vince Vaughn crush coming. I don't see it... but then again I'm a man, and a Sox fan
Super Bowl ads just suck now. Not sure if it’s the ads themselves or the fact that I don’t buy into any of the corporate shit that goes on. Probably the latter.
