The real unique thing about this episode is that it measures the credibility of the reviewers instead of the other way around.

Not only one of the best episodes of Buffy, but of television in general. But difficult to watch. It brings the waterworks every time.

From what I understand when you attempt CPR it's totally possible and common to break something and that's what they were going for not that Buffy's strength did that. At least that's what a I vaguely remember when hearing stuff about this episode.

You can never show accurate cpr on a real human in show.
      Too dangerous.

One of the better epsiodes of the season. Also, I love that peak in high school line.

Still a tough watch even after all these years. At the time of broadcast my family were still processing the loss of a family friend so it hit hard.
Aside from the Vamp at the end an almost flawless episode.

The vamp ties the episode to the show itself. Thus, the slaying doesn't stop for Buffy to grieve.

this is the worst analysis of any episode ever done lol

honestly something i felt like while it made sense in the context of the show it might not have been needed and actually added something to make this episode more unquie and that is taking away the vampire at the end. like think about it if we did not see the vampire at the end of the episode if no one had watched the show before. and only had this episode as a reference they would not asscoiate this show about being about a vampire slayer but its a group of close friends dealing with the loss of someone close to them.

agree 100%. I do really like the shot of the two of them on the floor looking up and Dawn reaching out though, and I guess that's just easier to contrive if there's a vampire around

The word "vampire" is literally in the show's title. I think without the vamp fight, some people would instead criticize the episode for being out of place compared to the rest of the series.

This is the most negative, off-base critique of The Body I've ever read. It's one of the greatest pieces of television ever created and you talk about it like a run of the mill Vampire Diaries story. And saying this is the first good episode of Season 5? What a bad hot take. Probably the best season of the entire show.

Dude, chill! It is a good episode of Buffy. And the guys admitt it with their grades. To call it "one of the greatest pieces of television ever created" is maybe your personal perspective, but an extreme absolute statement and therefore debatable.

They’re negative on the series in general. That’s why I stopped watching them about halfway through season 3. ‘Buffy’ isn’t perfect, and there’s a lot to criticize about the series through the seasons. But these dudes often don’t comprehend the show’s themes or the character motivations. They’ve shown very little love to even the most acclaimed episodes. And they seem to have a difficult time even understanding Buffy herself. Idk what they were expecting the series to be, but they don’t get the show at all.

@@roblancoberto6782 That goes both ways, as he's debating the reviewers' opinions. For he's far from being alone.
South Bend Tribune: "It's one of the best episodes of TV of all time...If you watch this incredible episode and don't recognize it as great TV, you're hopeless."
Salon: "there hasn't been a finer hour of drama on TV this year"
PopMatters: "possibly the finest hour of television I've seen, bar none"
The Patriot-News: "one of the finest episodes of any series ever"
SpoilerTV: "one of the best hours of television"
      etc...

@@liteflightify hearing "buffy never takes her responsibilities seriously" is rich and reminded me of why i don't really get these reviews. every single video displays lack of understanding and surface level analysis. also the fact that the kiss was totally absent here shows much they pay attention details

I’ve watched a fair few of these two’s reviews. Robert in particular lacks the emotional understanding to fully grasp an episode like this. For example, Buffy wasn’t “panicking”, she was in shock. She still fought when she had to, but when you unexpectedly loose a loved one, it turns your entire world upside down. Yes, there may have been moments where the dialogue wasn’t spot-on, but the acting from the entire cast was excellent, and SMG was spectacular in conveying Buffy’s emotions. There’s plenty to criticize in BtVS, but this ain’t it. I suspect this episode will make more sense to Robert in the future.

You didnt talk about the kiss which is the only reason why anybody even remembers this episode. It is amazing how poor a job you did with both this show and the TNG reviews.

    • @vacion610
      @vacion610 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

The only reason??? It's the episode where the main character's mother is confirmed dead. It's most often ranked among the top three best of the entire show along with "Hush" and "Once More with Feeling". Apparently in your world, this storyline is just forgettable filler, which is a way worse perception than their review.

    why didn't
    BUFFY ask SPIKE
to turn JOYCE into a VAMPIRE ?
    because that would've
    brought her back

Because you can’t turn a dead person. They have to drink the vampire’s blood.
