I get a lot of customers who bring in reusable bags that are flimsy and don’t stand on themselves. Your tip on building a wall around the outside is awesome, thanks for sharing!
I work in a supermarket on checkouts . And you wouldn’t believe how hard it is for people to pack a bag. Some people make it sooooo difficult! Heavy shit goes at the bottom . Light shit on top. As a former employee of Publix Supermarket working as front service personnel(not sure if that's still the title although it's much better than bagboy/girl) I have to say you were well trained. I appreciate you bringing back so many good memories of my first job(I just turned 16 when I started).
Mostly pro class. (Except for the ramen with the big can of sauce, at 2:24.) And I do believe both bags are weighted for a customer who looks like you! ;) My missus often has to haul our groceries upstairs by herself and we're no spring chickens. Speed is important but it should not be the top priority at all times. Definitely a better bagging job than most. For us, here's the ideal bagging regimen: 01-Eggs by themselves, destined for the passenger seat or floor board. 02-All cold/frozen together, never mixed with non-cold items. 03-All hot deli items by themselves, bread/tortillas by themselves. 04-Raw meat/poultry bagged individually, then together into a carryout bag. 05-UNcrushable on the bottom, crushable on top. 06-Too many light weight bags > just a few heavy bags, esp for elder ladies. 07-Cans with cans only, double bagged handles tied in a square knot (to prevent run aways). 08-Jars with sturdy other merch, never with other jars, double bagged handles in a square knot. 09-Cleaners/chemicals alone, and medicine/hygiene alone, neither with food. 10-Trunk FILO. First In Last Out. Load FIRST with NON-perishables, then perishables.
Crazy to think a year ago i watched this video and now I’ve been working for a year and watched this video being nervous af when I applied, man time flies lol, bagging is really easy and it’s so fun once u get to really fast speeds with another fast cashier
Thank you for this, Logan! I’m not a grocery store employee, but I want to start bringing my own large reusable bags when I grocery shop and wanted to know how best to arrange the items so the weight is evenly distributed and nothing’s damaged or crushed
Alright, this was amazing. During the pandemic, you either have to use the plastic bags the cashier uses or you can bag your own. I want to bag my own. The amount of plastic waste I have accumulated makes me want to cry! This was so helpful and exactly what I needed.
It's also good to re-use plastic bags for other stuff. I keep them to re-use as trash bags, or to carry wet clothes, or to pack shoes in for trips, or as dog poop bags. Always shocks me when I see someone just toss them out.
Broken eggs and broken bread, that's a good one, but I know what you meant. You sound like someone who is related to me, you are cool dude, thank you for showing the best way how to bag food and such. God bless you buddy and again thank you.

So...how did it go? 😀
It’s been a year
Do eggs go on the bottom or top. I kinda confused on that
they almost always go on top because of how fragile the eggs are. Very few things go on top of eggs, like bread for example.
I use to work at Ralph's supermarket here in L.A. , by Beverly connection, well...I had interview with the store manager, then I started to work at Ralph's, I didn't know to pack, what I only know is pack food in a plastic or paper bag, laundry separate bag. Thank You so much I definitely need reusable shopping bags.
The only suggestion I would make is to give the view from inside bag while bagging so as to get a better idea of what it's supossed to look like!
