And so fun to work on. I have a stock K100 & K1100 that are staying stock, but someone just gave me a beat, ready to alter k75 and now I'm gorging on customization info, thanks for being on my inspiration train :) @@furthernorthfab
Glad I came across this! The bike looks awesome! I have a k100 donor that has been sitting in my mother's shed for years now! It was my uncle's. When he passed away, my aunt gave it to my father. My father passed away 12 years ago on Monday. My aunt just passed away this past October. It is one of the few things that are left that reminds me of all of them, outside of memories. My wife said that she didn't want me to ride as long as our son was in school, which will come to an end this June. I think this is a great project for us to tackle together, IF I can convince my mother to pass it on. She knows I want to update it and make it a bit more sporty, which is why she's reluctant, but I think it can be done. She's tired of it being in her shed. I will be in touch soon!
I'm watching this with inspiration of building my K1100RS. Thank you so much for the content, and the advice on keeping all original parts. My particular bike is complete and all original, so a great base to start with, thankfully. I'm looking forward to seeing more Bimmer content!
Thanks for waiting! Yeah worst case you send sell the extra parts after the bike is built but I still find stuff from the k100 that ends up going onto other project bikes.
I LOVE this build so much! Great video editing, the pace is just nice. I got abit teary eye when you mentioned the highlight of the build is actually spending more time with your son. He must be so proud to have a great dad like you. Felt happy for yall!
Great work! For everyone else out there, if you HAVEN'T ever set a bike on fire, grow up and start wrenching lol. Set my 83 R65 on fire when I was 15, bought a new main harness, and haven't looked back since!
This is amazing. One of my goals in the future is to build a cafe racer and would love to be able to do it with my sons as well. I just started motorcycling a couple years ago so I have a long way to go. But I do all the maintenance myself so I can learn bit by bit. You’ve definitely inspired me to keep going to one day realize my goal!
This gotta be 1 of the best step by steps... I love it... although I like your idea of flattening that v out... I did also like the before look... they're both good looks but you got this lookin badass
Absolutely fantastic video. loving the voiceover, much clearer to follow than most other videos where you can't hear the person talking. At roughly the 13:30 mark you talk about finding a really helpful video about doing the fork seals/disassembly. Could you link to that? Best, Noah
great video guys. Appreciate the hard work you put in to bring good content to the world. Amazing transformation. Good on you also for spending some good time with your boy.
@@furthernorthfab the builder just abandoned the project due to lack of available time. i purchased all the parts, now i just need the elbow grease. tempted to complete it myself. very daunting task.
Damn that k100 is BEAUTIFUL... I mean that... i love it... I would love to see 1 with a beach bar... like the 1s on the indian scouts... or dual sports...
Hate to nitpick, but shorai makes lithium IRON batteries. They are less prone to catching fire than ion batteries, so it does make a difference. Great build! I have a Shorai battery and it's been fantastic, even in the cold.
Subscribed! Love your content! Came for your Honda Cafe Racer build and got sucked into your BMW build… Looks so awesome… what’s the color you used for the wheel paint? It’s a lovely burnt orange/orangy bronze metallic … Thanks so much
Toll 👍🏻 ich hab ein K100 und hab ich es wie du alles selber umgebaut bis auf die Gabel! Welche Gabel und Bremsanlage vorne soll ich montieren ? Liebe Grüße 😊👋🏻aus 🇩🇪
I was building a gs550 cafe racer before my last 2 deployments It got stolen while I was gone. I would love to find a k100 or something similar. Would be great to build along side my 328 diesel wagon
I’m 6’5, looking into a cafe racer. Would this bike be good for me, these were one of the motorcycle they said is good for tall people. Love the bike by the way and awesome content
Clip on handle bars that sit up higher and a rearset will definitely make a bike like this easier for you to ride. I have a CB500 cafe racer as well, which would definitely be too small for you. The K100 is a lot bigger of a bike with a lot more says to stretch out for a tall person.
Slice a few cm off the tail, wack on a thin seat, add an exhaust and maybe some upside down forks from a Japanese bike. Splash on some paint. The universal K100 'cafe racer'.
Did you have an issue with leaking fuel when you cut the tabs off of the fuel tank? I want to cut the tabs on my bike but I am concerned about leaks. Awesome bike, great job!!
Good to see you reflect on your own design with parts being boring and failing at technical functionality. All those wires are screaming for cable sleeves. A better solution for those wire connections is simply soldering it all with good sleeves. It will look cleaner too instead of having all those plastic blocks everywhere creating resistance over time by oxidation and corrosion having electrical issues over time. An good electrician would also never use those cheap home improvement connector blocks with pressing screws on the copper which will get lose over time and maybe becoming a fire hazard. These are cables under vibrations and temperature differences so these connector blocks are sort of bust for me based on work related experiences. Get a good gas burning soldering tool. Some gas soldering kits likely cost the same as all those hipster connector blocks combined as well. The electrical system with work more optimal too when it's all soldered
I am 5 minuttes into your video.... your voice over is great, your video is great. But boy that music is just killing me..... please remove this and let us just see the pictures and hear your voice. Awesome project.... I just made 1983 Yamaha XJ900 scrambler in the same way. Great!!!
I have owned my 1985 K100RS since 1991. It is stock except for a Corbin seat. K bikes are currently cheap, and a lot of them are getting chopped in this fashion. As stock K bikes are chopped and dissappear they will become more valuable, like finding a bone stock 1955 Chevy. in the long run I think the chop/mods will decrease the value. Only a bike that is too far gone to return to stock should be chopped, in my opinion.
"I didnt realize how much I'd fall in love with this bike". Yep, welcome to Ks, the worlds most underrated, oddly seductive machines.
Such an amazing bike! The sound alone is unbelievable

I'm dead set on buying a K100 and turning it into a cafe racer. I loved the way you changed the angle on frame💪🏿👌🏿
Thanks. It improves the look so much.

This is the most beautiful bike I've ever seen in my life
Thank you 🙏
That was a realy fine job. Bike looks hot
Such an incredible build man!
Thanks, Ethan. We still need to connect about the seat for the next build 😉
Wow what an amazing build inspired by this build love the detail down to the M stitching on the seat
Thanks so much! I just uploaded an update video as well. Some of the tweaks I made at the beginning of this riding season.

Hey, fantastic bike. Could you please tell the mesurement of the bracet to level the tank?
Great job Kris!!!!
Thanks Josh!

Super cool build. I was wondering where you found that radiator cover and was hoping you could point me in the right direction, thanks much.

Great Build, Music is Exhausting
Nice work brother!
great video and build! I am in the market right now for a k75 or k100 to build as a cafe racer to match my bmw 340i.
DEFINETLY❤
Did the fork conversion sort out the front end twitch?
It corners like it’s on rails now, but she does get twitchy if you let go of the handlebars.
Really like ur commentary
Great job thanks for the vid!
Hey, what front disks are those? Thanks
They are part of the Jax Garage front end kit. There’s a 10% off code in the description if that helps
Great stuff, looks realy good. Whats the headlight in the 2.0 version?
It was just a light I found on Amazon. Works great for the price
This bike is in my future for a rebuild just have to find the right one haha
Amazing looking bike. What air box is that?
It’s from Cafe4racer

Good one
Do you just know how to put it back together, or have a manual to help? Great build 👍
I had a manual but I sorted it well enough that it was an easy puzzle to solve.
I was building a gs550 cafe racer before my last 2 deployments It got stolen while I was gone. I would love to find a k100 or something similar. Would be great to build along side my 328 diesel wagon
Do you have a link for the 3d printed intake covers? I have a 3d printer and just started my teardown and those seem like they'd be a lifesaver!
that music at 22:00 goes hard
What is the thing you use for cleaning at 10:52
That’s just a brass wire wheel
@@furthernorthfabsorry I meant the liquid you have the throttle body in

Don't you need to heat cure the carbon fibre?
Not with the epoxy I’m using.
@@furthernorthfab I see. What kind of epoxy is that? I haven't heard about that before.
Anyone ditch the FI on these bikes for carbs?
I just think with E10 gas the pump might go bad again.
Thank you for vlog.
Btw. Subbed.

The only thing I don’t like is the music is too loud I’d rather hear you talk 🤙
