    Anyone who is convicted of Drunk driving should have to work in the county morgue.
    They should also have to clean up DUI accident scenes.
    This would be instead of working in the prison. The money earned should be given to the victims families.

    • @Redraven2967
      @Redraven2967 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Actually it’s a sentence of 10 years with a minimum of 5, that makes her eligible for parole at 2 1/2 years. I agree it should have been more. Maybe consecutive terms of 10 years that way if she was paroled on the first after 5 years on the first sentence she would have to start serving the second and serve another 5 before being eligible for parole on the second charge. I am not a fan of concurrent sentencing.

      That’s how I feel. I think my guilt would make me accept any sentence I was given. I know she really is too young to grasp the real devastation she caused. Her wanting early parole is an indication she’s not remorseful. She thinks she is though…
      I was a problem drinker until one morning when I woke up from a blackout and learned I’d driven someone home… with zero memory of it. Something in my soul told me I would never get another “free pass”. That if I didn’t stop right then, someone would be harmed if not killed. I’d wake up in a jail cell and face the fact I’d always known better.
      That was 11 years ago and when I struggle with life or a craving I think about that night,

    • @steelhurricane4041

    The law is lenient towards DUI cases because of the taxes on alcohol drinks.Why is this any different from a drunk person killing two people with a gun? A car is a deadly weapon.

    What a joke, she should be behind bars for decades. If you drink and drive you know darn well with the outcome could be. It’s like picking up a loaded gun. When will Utah start holding these people responsible for consuming alcohol, and making the choice to get behind the wheel? And she should serve a full sentence of at least 25 years.

    You are a prisoner… guilty of killing two people, your choices. Your irresponsible selfish choices. Your rights and privileges are no longer yours, you relinquish that when you break the LAW. She does not deserve the privilege of being outside, getting a job, freely moving amongst the public. She does not take accountability whatsoever. She’s rambling about NOTHING. “Like I’ve changed so much…I found my values.”
    What in the heck does that even mean??!!

    • @lanielouwraps
      @lanielouwraps 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A person never loses their rights… and thank goodness for that. I see she pled guilty, she took a step in the right direction by pleading guilty. She came up for parole because that is how the system works. These are administrative procedures. She will likely not be paroled, she has too many disciplinary issues. She will come up for parole again and go through the same process because that is the law. I personally do not think there is ever a reason to drive drunk. Today we have taxi’s, buses, Uber, Lyft, and a cell phone that we carry everywhere. Until the penalties are more harsh, we will continue to see drunk drivers, first offense, up to 8 offenses, because the law has not changed nor has stiffer penalties been applied. As it is now, a drunk will always think they are okay to drive, because the penalty is minuscule.

      If i killed someone, i would not be able to come out of my cell for a parole hearing (maybe not for any reason except to apologize. and certainly at the victim's family's request) out of such shame. I really wouldnt. I would stay quietly in prison for as long as the family demanded just to avoid hurting anyone even one moment more, even if it meant decades. I would just be so ashamed i dont know if i could ever show my ever face again.
      And i would absolutely NOT permit my family to say a single solitary damm word against the dead or their family/friends, and if they did, THAT would be THE time i sucked up my absolute crushing shame - and embarrassment and guilt and horror - to publicy condemn anyone who so much as accidentally may have sorta said, implied, or sounded even remotely, as tho they were trying to defend me by disparaging the victims. I absolutely would NOT permit it. No way, no how, for no reason, under no circumstances, in no situation, NEVER would that happen.
      And if anyone on my behalf, were to be so cruel or stupid or heartless or snide or angry or sad or confused or inelegant, or whatever, as to try to "defend me" in any such way, i would never sit by and allow it to occur.

    OMG. The Justice system needs to change regarding drunk driving deaths
    Just this weekend a 56yr old man hit 2 brothers ages 29 & and 31 on bikes on the eve of their sisters wedding
    They left behind wives & children - one wife is pregnant
    Such a Tragedy and so much Loss
    What is so Incredibly Heartbreaking is these 2 men are Gone - Just like this man' s wife & son . Their lives are Destroyed. And these drivers get such little time. It's Despicable
    Mistake. A mistake is buying diet soda and not regular soda
    Making a left turn instead of a right turn
    Getting behind a wheel drunk is a choice NOT a mistake
    Pleeeeeease they All cry
    There's a case in Michigan - 66gr old woman drove into a building killing a young brother & sister- sending their brother ; mother into the icu
    They were indoors attending a bday party. How could you Not be Safe indoors
    The drunk is Out on bond
    Didn t even shed a tear at her hearing
    The family of course is Devastated brwn the loss, and then their I injuries
    The mom had 6 cracked ribs one penetrating her lung .. concussion and other injuries
    So, this person caused deaths, injuries., beside funeral costs - hospital costs and extended health care
    Yet she got out on bail. ASTOUNDING
