This canny helmsman has the advantage of daring command at sail. What momentum carried thru. I can't wait for the starting gun. Clearly, the crews are approaching a fine peak of training.
Indeed. About 3 months ago I flew the Barrier, and hiding behind Rangitoto was one of these boats being chased by 6 or 7 3 engined boats. It did a rapid 180 and the motor boats were still trying to catch up when we flew too far to see what was happening. Very fast and very maneuverable.
Awesome to see teams pushing there boats to the limits, that's where the cup will be won with tight maneuvers & cornering combined with tight crew communication and of course a fast boat. Good Luck to all competitors!
these boats are amazing! I can't tell which is the fastest yet but can see some ac75s produce more rooster tail where the canton meets the foil than others. That could be a slower foil or the trade off for more lift at lower speed.
@@nandosillamartinez26773 we laymen have a different interpretation of 360, than turn in a full circle. But thanks for clearing that up. Sometimes a recalibration is required.
It's not just the weight. There would also be all sort of other forces, possibly a lot greater, and many of which would be constantly changing. I wish I understood how many axis they have to consider for each point of sail or manoeuvre.
@Bruce_Harris= Between 02:25 and 03:05, Luna Rossa starts at close reach on port tack, then goes upwind and tacks leftwards to starboard tack, then continues leftwards to downwind for a gybe (02:55-02:59) which makes her return to port tack ; she then reaches upwind and ends her 360° maneuver at close reach on port tack - on the same bearing as she started. - •
Not seen anyone else do a 360 like that. This really is a very pretty boat, the least fussy of the four. If form follows function it should do well. Where are the Americans?

The manoeuvrability of these boats is quite staggering! Thanks again Justin 👍

Right there at 2:20 you can see the amazing control the crew has with their boat. They're going to be hard to beat.

My thought as well. So far EnZed has the least apparent drag from the foil strut.
Now that is real training rather than blasting along in a straight line. Tactics like that can be race winners.
Thats a move I would have thought impossible. Amazing.
Grande stabilità dopo 360 gradi, bene.
WOW ! That was very impressive.
Te Aihe did a 360 way back in footage by another TH-camr. I'll try and locate the link
I must have blinked or something. I didn't see a 360... I for sure saw some damn fast turns but.
at 2:20 they go round more than 360
you must have blinked more than 40 seconds then, from 2:20 to 3:00 they make more than one 360 degrees circle full turn

Thank you so much for filming and posting these awesome videos, we all appreciate it!
Thanks, looks like the show is on ! .
Incredible all the weight on that one foil...

Bit of weight on the rudder foil too.
The strains on the foils must be terrific. Have there been any foil failures yet during this practice period?
Wow, not easy to tell where the wind is coming from
Do these boats ever go down wind?
Which were tacks and which were gybes?

Italian Ballet...or opera?
Ballet
Space-age flying-boats. YEAH.
Amazing video !
Look out..... it's that bloody Spithill guy again !
Fantastic!
It more amazing if you use the 2x playback speed in TH-cam. It's better than watching the 1980's 12m monohulls at 12x playback speed.
Pre start maneuvers? I'd assumed that penalty's would be x boats lengths of VMG like last time.
Yo, matey. You lost? North be thataway. xD
Go Luna!!!!!

What’s that. 360 tho ?
i love how the chase boats appear to be scattering not knowing what on earth is going on
Where was that Filmes?
That was 2 180° turns not a 360°
Obviously practising penalties :-)
wow!!just WOWEE!!
incredibile
To be fair you could sail around the world and call it a 360 also.
Penalty practice I guess.
Do your f***ing turns!
360 at 2:19
Thanks. They make it look easy, even with full sails up. It’s quite difficult to see the double skin mainsail variations of shape.
Great job Luna. That is some awesome mobility.
